Mr. Veenstra has a Holland ("Dutch") variation of a Frisian name which may also be spelled "Feenstra," original spelling "Feanstra" - person from the "fen" or grassy wetlands / forested swamp / peat bog. There was a spelling revision to the Holland language in the 1800's where "V" replaced "F" so that we have a "Vriesland" in Michigan instead of a "Friesland." Until recently, Frisian names in the Netherlands were given the Holland ("Dutch") spelling and not the Frisian spelling.
