Are filmmakers having trouble titling their spy thrillers? Think about the names of classic examples of the genre: The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. The Ipcress File. Three Days Of The Condor. The Day Of The Jackal. Cool. Evocative. Enticing.

The title is Unlocked and it stars Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as a CIA interrogator who unwittingly provides information to terrorists and then must race against the clock to stop a biological warfare attack on London. Directed by Michael Apted (Gorillas in the Mist, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) the film co-stars Michael Douglas, Orlando Bloom, John Malkovich and Toni Collette with a screenplay by "Halo: Reach" scribe Peter O'Brien.

After retiring from the CIA in the Coen Brothers' comedy Burn After Reading, the Oscar-nominated John Malkovich is heading back to the agency for a new thriller from director Michael Apted (The World is Not Enough, Chasing Mavericks). From the American film Market, Bloom (the company behind the gestating Elvis & Nixon starring Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey respectively) has just announced that Malkovich, along with Little Miss Sunshine star Toni Collete, has joined the cast of Unlocked, the CIA thriller that already has Noomi Rapace, Michael Douglas & Orlando Bloom attached to star. Read on! The film is already shooting, so it sounds like this film will actually make it to theaters, unlike many on sale at the Afm each year. Peter O'Brien ("Halo: Reach") wrote the script which focuses on a CIA interrogator (Rapace) who unwittingly provides information to terrorists and then must race against the clock to stop a biological warfare attack on London.

Mike McCoy, one of the two Bandito Brothers, is in talks to direct the action thriller "Line of Sight" says Heat Vision.
The story follows an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat. The film will be shot almost entirely in the first person, giving the viewer a point of view akin to the many Fps games on various consoles like the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
F. Scott Frazier wrote the initial spec script which then was polished by "Halo: Reach" writer Peter O'Brien. Ben Affleck was at one point attached to direct.
McCoy and his partner Scott Waugh helmed the real Seal-team thriller "Act of Valor", one of the big reasons they were hired as they could deliver both polish and realism on a modest budget. Joel Silver and Andrew Rona will produce.

Although Ben Affleck was last year rumored to be eyeing the project, The Hollywood Reporter now brings word that Act of Valor director Mike McCoy is attached to direct Line of Sight for Warner Bros. Silver Pictures' Alex Heineman, who is executive producing, came up with the idea for the film, which centers on an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat. The movie tells the story from a point-of-view akin to a first-person shooter game. The script was recently worked on by Peter O'Brien, who wrote "Halo: Reach" for Xbox 360. Joel Silver and Andrew Rona are producing.

Actor eyes up directing and starring role in proposed action flick modelled on 'shoot-em-up' video game, reports say
Ben Affleck is in talks to direct and star in action flick Line of Sight, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The project is intriguing because it is reportedly set to be filmed from a point of view similar to a first-person "shoot-em-up" video game.
With a screenplay by Peter O'Brien, who worked on the game Halo: Reach, Line of Sight centres on an elite commando squad which must transport a precious cargo while dealing with a global threat.
While sections of the film adaptation of the game Doom were shot from the first-person perspective, Line of Sight's borrowing from that ouvre would be unusual, particularly if the perspective is maintained throughout the film. The 1947 film noir Lady in the Lake, an adaptation of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe detective novel, attempted to...

With "Argo" currently on his plate, Ben Affleck is gearing up for what might be his next directorial effort, "Line of Sight."
The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Affleck is circling the project that is being produced by Joel Silver and Andrew Rona. The plan is that he would also star in "Line of Sight," like he did in 2010's "The Town" and the upcoming "Argo." Keeping with the trend of his previous films, "Line of Sight" would be an action thriller, but with a unique conceit.
The script for "Line of Sight" was conceived by Alex Heineman and recently worked on by "Halo: Reach" writer Peter O'Brien, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise that the movie will be influenced by first-person shooter video games.
"Line of Sight" follows an elite commando squad tasked with transporting important cargo while also dealing with what THR describes as "a global threat.

Ben Affleck is about to shoot Argo, his third directorial effort, which tells the tale of a CIA crew attempting to extricate hostages from Tehran by posing as a film crew. But he's already setting up possible projects to follow Argo, and a new one is Line of Sight. This is a Joel Silver film about "an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat." And, in a wrinkle that is unusual for Affleck, who has so far demonstrated himself to be a fairly traditional and controlled director, there is an almost experimental video game influence on this project. THR [1] says that one of the ideas in the film, which was conceived by Alex Heineman of Silver Pictures, is that "it tells the tale from a point-of-view akin to a first-person shooter game." Peter O'Brien (Halo: Reach) scripted the current draft; F. Scott Frazier wrote an earlier spec draft for Silver Pictures.

Ben Affleck is eyeing his fourth directorial effort, but even though he'd once again play the lead, we'd likely see a lot less of him than in 'The Town.'
According to THR, the thriller 'Line of Sight' would be shot from "a point-of-view akin to a first-person shooter game." And the script did just get a polish by one Peter O'Brien, who wrote the game 'Halo: Reach' for Xbox 360.
Is first-person Pov the next new trend? Chunks of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' trailer play out that way and director James Gray recently announced that's how he plans to direct his rogue spy thriller 'The Gray Man,' which would star Brad Pitt.
Like any good (or bad) movie gimmick, it's been done before, of course. Take the curiosity from the 1940s, 'Lady in the Lake,' which Robert Montgomery directed.

The star has signed on to helm and headline the commando action film, which will be shot the same way a first person shooter videogame is played, through the eyes of one character. Ben Affleck will direct Line of Sight after he's completed work on his political thriller Argo. Affleck will direct and star in that film as well, which is based on the true story of the Tehran hostage crisis. Affleck has a great track record with his directorial efforts thus far, producing Academy Award nominated films Gone Baby Gone and The Town.
