We can't seem to get enough of zombies these days and the upcoming Night of the Living Dead: Rebirth will be the directorial debut of independent horror actor Roger Conners. The film is a "revision" or remake of the original Romero classic but we're told with a modern, socio-political twist. Time will tell how moviegoers feel about a reboot of such a classic film, but I'm personally stoked about the possibilities! Read more about the film below.

Ohio native and former Chill comic relief Roger Conners has rolled camera and officially moved into principal photography on his directorial debut, Night of the Living Dead: Rebirth. Conners has appeared in over a dozen independent productions with half them being horror titles, and his love for the genre was first kickstarted after his initial viewing of the original George Romero zombie classic, Night of the Living Dead...

Horror director Roger Conners (Chill) is developing a new horror title, called Night of the Living Dead Rebirth. This film borrows from some of George Romero's earlier works, with the undead rising from the grave. Night of the Living Dead Rebirth will begin shooting shortly and fans of horror can preview story details and an early film poster for the feature here. Those eagerly anticipating the upcoming indie feature Chill from Mouse Nest Productions know that Dread Central is the place to go for the latest information. Today we've got not only a new still from the film but also a second clip to share with you. Dig in!

With the film being shot exclusively in Ohio, it's fitting that the filmmakers decided to do a public test screening in Akron. The crew listened to what the audience suggested and made some last minute tweaks, raising the brutality level of the film and even adding two new deaths. If they're still tacking on death scenes, then we've got to be talking about a serious body count here!

Being in upstate New York and having watched the snow pile up when I should have been out shaking my moneymaker at the Saturday night Halloween parties, "Chill" is the last word I want to hear. November 17, 1990, is a day of mourning for some...and for others a lucrative opportunity. On that date eight university students were found murdered in the old Stanwick Factory. An anonymous source told police the 20-somethings were in the midst of a local role-playing game called Chill.

The name of the game is to stay alive. But for the players that November evening, few would be getting up for another round.

And here's why: these two new horror films, co-directed by chicks, fall into two if my favorite sub genres: "survival accident horror" and "game-gone-awry horror."

Just like the "slasher" film, these two types of horror movies can have their own unique story lines and endings as long as they follow a set of rules laid out by tradition.

Dark Sky is releasing Canyon Road, co-directed by Jennifer Still and Calix Reneau, about a young couple that gets into a terrible car accident on the way home from a party. I assume they're in Malibu, California, because the world freaks out when it rains, and dangerous things happen when the roads are wet. But seriously, there have been some vicious mudslides of the killing kind in Malibu, much like the one that threatens the lives of this couple.

Writer/director Eddie Lengyel dropped us a line with an update on Voodoo Rising featuring Brenna Lee Roth and Mark Cray along with Roger Conners. We've got a few stills and a trailer to share for the film, which Lengyel co-wrote with Kris Smith.

Voodoo Rising's other cast members include April Needham, Sarah Domanick, and Don Kilrain; and the editor is Mike Kolovich. It's the story of a group of friends who decide to spend their last summer together by taking a trip to the rural camping destination "Black Hills". Once there, they find themselves in the middle of a deadly quarrel with a local family, The Balmers. Sheriff Norman Balmer (Don Kilrain), who runs the campground, has a retarded son who gets himself shot and killed by one of the campers. Angered, the Balmer clan seek their revenge on all eight of the kids in nothing less than pure Hillbilly Balmer fashion!

And our month-long indie film feature keeps chugging along with the first word about yet another new terror tale that's looking to Chill your bones before shattering them into itty-bitty pieces.

The Melon Heads was shot this past summer and is currently in post production. It was made on a budget of just $10,000! The film is a production of Fright Teck Pictures which is also responsible for Hellweek and Voodoo Rising. 

Official Plot Synopsis: As summer in Ohio draws to a close, four friends prepare to move forward with their lives and take their first steps into adulthood. Griff (Joe Zamora) is about to propose to his girlfriend Riley (Tina Grimm) as his best friend Dean (Robert Miller) debates on ending his relationship with Audrey (Eman Khwaja), who is about to move across the country to start her career.
