Andy Blunda is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who grew up in Thousand Oaks, CA. His passion for music started at age 10 when he learned to play Ragtime piano, by listening to old records from the Library. He soon learned to read music and at 18 attended Biola University to study classical piano performance. While at University he picked up the
guitar and formed an alternative rock band with a few classmates. After an on campus performance the band was signed to the Seattle based indie label Tooth and Nail Records. The band recorded one album with producer Armand Petri, (Goo Goo Dolls, Sixpence None the Richer).
Andy then joined up with the Texas trio, Fastball. Coming off the success of their hit single 'The Way', Fastball would go on to tour the world for two and a half years with Blunda covering guitar and keyboard duties. In 2000', Andy was hired to record keyboards and guitar with the band 'Paloalto', who had recently signed to Rick Rubin's American Recordings label. He was eventually asked to join the group and went on to tour and record 2 albums under the production guise of Rubin. Andy would continue to tour and do session work for artists like Jason Falkner, Zoe Bonham, REO Speedwagon and Stabbing Westward throughout the 2000's, all the while writing and producing music out of his home studio.
In 2010, Andy was hired by composer Andy Kubiszweski to co-write cues for the Original Productions television series 'Coal'. He was soon hired as a composer at Original Productions, where he has been for the last 13 years, writing and producing music for a variety of shows, including Jay Leno's Garage, Botched, Married To Medicine, Deadliest Catch, Jersey Shore, Storage Wars and 5 Guys A Week.
Blunda's awards have included 1st place in The Biola Piano Competition, The Outstanding Musician Award at Biola University, and The ASCAP 2013 Film and Television Music Award for his music in The Discovery Channel series 'After the Catch'.
