Rhenzy Feliz walked into West Hollywood’s Soho House Holloway on Wednesday for The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen bash in partnership with Instagram and Waymo, posed for a couple of photos and then managed to perfectly capture the spirit of the celebration in a few short sentences.

If Kamala Harris wins the presidency, one aspect of her campaign that will be highlighted will be her support from Never Trumpers, the group of Republicans who want to ensure that the former president never makes it back to the White House.
In the election of 2024, these figures have been some of the most vocal in making the case that this isn’t a normal election cycle, that democracy is at stake. Proof enough is that many of them will be casting their ballots for a Democrat for the first time.
Adam Kinzinger is one of the them, having spoken at the Democratic National Convention and appeared on the campaign trail for Harris. Steve Pink’s The Last Republican is backstory of how Kinzinger, a staunch conservative, got to that place. There seems to be a new subgenre of horror/thriller movies emerging of late: ‘Game night gone wrong’. We’ve had the bloody-murder of Bodies Bodies Bodies and the demonic possession of Talk To Me — and now we have the literal mind-bending chaos of It’s What’s Inside, a fun and stylish rethink of body-swap movies. What if, this film posits, instead of two people swapping bodies, as has been traditional — it was eight people?
It has been described as “Clue for Zoomers”, which is not far off the mark. Like Bodies Bodies Bodies and Talk To Me, this is a film made explicitly for and about Generation Z, and deeply considers their obsessions, anxieties and pathologies. It begins in a frantic manner, reflecting the social-media generation’s attention-demanded brains, as Shelby (Brittany O'Grady), our lead, frantically scrolls through her Instagram, bombarded with data and input. She’s dating Cyrus (James Morosini...

It’s What’s Inside might seem like a simple body-swapping game movie, but deep down, it’s about jealousy, insecurity, anger, and all kinds of petty feelings, so the title fits perfectly with the story. Through this cast and character guide, we see how Forbes’ (or actually Beatrice’s) body-swapping machine at Reuben’s pre-wedding party changed everyone’s lives in just one night.
Spoilers Ahead
Shelby and Cyrus
Brittany O’Grady as Shelby and James Morosini as Cyrus perfectly capture the dynamics of a modern, flawed relationship. From the start, we see how their chemistry as a couple is tense, strained, and lacking genuine affection. It’s all because Shelby is deeply insecure and always seeks validation from her boyfriend Cyrus, while Cyrus is emotionally detached as he never truly appreciates Shelby for who she is, and seems to view her as a second choice as he did not...

It’s a special occurrence when a film can pull off something entirely original. We’ve seen so many iterations of so many different stories, that sometimes watching movies can feel a bit like playing the same mad libs-style game over and over. Thankfully people like Greg Jardin exist who can bring something new to the table. Using science as the crux for the swapping of bodies, the story for It’s What’s Inside is able to focus on identity and the complex nature of relationships. And it does so brilliantly. This is easily one of my favorite horror films of the year (Bumbray saw it earlier this year and loved it too) and you’re going to want to check it out when it comes to Netflix.

Greg Jardin’s high-concept techno-thriller It’s What’s Inside weaves a tangeled web of deceit and deception among a group of old friends gathering together for one last fling before the group’s first wedding sends them all into the world of adult relationships and responsibilities. Reuben, the man of the hour, has invited all the usual suspects but threw the group a curveball when he also invited Forbes, an estranged friend who hasn’t spoken to anyone since a big dustup split the group 8 years ago.
As we all know, it’s rude to come to a party empty-handed but rather than bringing a bottle of wine, Forbes has brought an opportunity with him. Now, Forbes has made a bit of a name for himself in the tech world since the group last saw him, like a Great Value brand Mark Zuckerberg. He promises the group an experience like no other…...

It’s October, officially known as “spooky season,” a term I just realized I’ve seen a lot less this year than in years prior. Maybe it’s a less spooky season than usual? In any case, “spooky season” means the streamers are putting up a lot of original horror movies this week. Max has “‘Salem’s Lot,” the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s vampire classic; Prime Video has “House of Spoils,” a Blumhouse psychological horror thriller starring Ariana DuBose as a Carmy-esque chef who’s either losing her mind or actually haunted; and Hulu has a period horror movie called “Hold Your Breath” starring Sarah Paulson as a mother in Dust Bowl Oklahoma who thinks there are monsters in the dust storms.
But none of those are our top picks this week. That would be “It’s What’s Inside,” a stylish Netflix horror comedy with a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Writer-Director Greg Jardin takes the familiar thrills of body swap movies and runs riot in his maddeningly exhilarating debut, “It’s What’s Inside.” Released on Netflix, the film’s abundant number of successful attempts at threading the needle of executing genre tropes culminate in a stylishly smart outing. With slick camerawork, smoothly sharp cuts, and a young cast embracing the opportunity to go bonkers, Jardin has all his cylinders firing simultaneously and seamlessly. The result is a wild ride, a psychological thriller here to swoon the horror aficionados (and others) this Halloween season.
“It’s What’s Inside” opens with the emphatic statement that this is not a movie that is only going to rely on its genre’s tropes. It is going to play with them, and it is going to be clever about it. We are introduced to our protagonist couple. Cyrus (James Morosini) and Shelby (Brittany O’Grady), sweethearts from college,...

Netflix’s “It’s What’s Inside” is the body-swapping thriller that sparked a bidding war at Sundance, and it’s finally streaming for all to see. And you’re probably going to want to see it a couple of times, because the ensemble cast is constantly rotating through characters, leaving the audience to keep up with who’s who — and in who’s body — at what point in the film.
We’re going to keep the basic cast and character details here spoiler-free, though we will add some hints to help you keep track, in case you’re wondering where you’ve seen that actor before without getting the whole movie ruined for you. But not to worry, if you’re looking for a breakdown of who’s in who’s body, we’ll include that in a spoiler section below, too.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for “It’s What’s Inside,” now streaming on Netflix.
Writer and director Greg Jardin’s debut feature, “It’s What’s Inside,” is a body-swapping mystery. Yet Jardin had his own out-of-body experience the day the movie started an intense bidding war at Sundance in January.
“It’s still surreal now,” he says. “We made the movie in a bit of a bubble, $2.5 million independent, just with hopes that someone would buy it at a festival. Getting into Sundance alone was awesome. And then our first offer came in 24 hours after our premiere, and the offer started at $5 million, which was double our budget. I was like, ‘Man, this is incredible.'”
But the buzz around Park City kept growing.
“It was my first experience,” he says. “With any of that stuff, there’s essentially a bidding war that lasted about 36 hours. I was in meetings with our financiers and sales agent.

The first weekend of October has arrived, and for most of us, that means it's finally time to start our annual Halloween movie marathons. It's the season of Hocus Pocus and horror movies and all things witchy and spooky, which accounts for one of the three top Netflix new releases this weekend.
This week, Netflix dropped a ton of new movies and shows, including throwbacks and recent favorites alike. Among the new additions are Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Yellowjackets season 1, Psycho, Halloween, Robin Hood, It Chapter Two, and so many more.
There's something for everyone to watch this weekend, especially if you're still catching up on recently released Netflix originals like Nobody Wants This, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and Unsolved Mysteries volume 5.
But if you're looking to dive into some new releases, should you check out the new horror comedy movie It's What's Inside?...

If there’s one thing movies have taught us it’s you should never, ever be alone in a house. Heck, even with other people. You’re just going to get haunted, or you’re going to get slashed, or at the very least your place will be an absolute mess in the morning and you’ll have to tell your parents what really happened. So go outside, dang it! You’re more likely to star in a romantic comedy if you’re not trapped in an isolated mansion on a dark and gloomy night, making side-eyes at your old college friends who secretly hate you or want you dead.
Then again, if you do stay inside, you might as well watch Greg Jardin’s engrossingly mean-spirited “It’s What’s Inside,” which takes the familiar setup — we sure are alone in this house and nothing bad could possibly happen to us...

Dark secrets, resentment, and jealousy raucously bubble up to the surface in writer/director Greg Jardin’s feature debut, It’s What’s Inside. A pre-wedding reunion amongst former college friends begins with easy revelry as eight gather to reminisce and imbibe in mind-altering substances. Only none know just how mind-bending the night will become when a suitcase emerges to introduce a new party game, one that catapults the group into an identity-bending funhouse of sci-fi comedy and horror. Its irreverent tone and Jardin’s visual eye ensure a highly entertaining time, though it becomes prone to tangled knots.
The opening introduction to college sweethearts Shelby (Brittany O’Grady) and Cyrus (James Morosini) sets the manic, social media-obsessed culture and comedic tone as the pair bicker over a botched attempt to rekindle the passion in their relationship. Shelby’s sweet intentions are undermined by insecurities and suspicions that Cyrus isn’t entirely being truthful with her.

Exclusive: It’s What’s Inside, which lands on Netflix on Oct. 4, marks the first time husbands Colman and Raúl Domingo produced a feature film together.
In an exclusive featurette from Netflix, the couple discussed their work on the thriller — Colman executive producing and Raúl producing for their company Edith Productions, which they started at the beginning of the pandemic — as well as with writer and director Greg Jardin.
“A lot of things that we do are a Trojan horse, like you don’t see it coming,” Colman said of Edith’s projects.
“The principle, I think, also, is entertain you while gutting you,” Raúl added.
“It’s usually put into some package. It could be a beautiful cake, but then you realize that there’s a shiv inside,” Colman said. “Or some glitter. You never know.”

Premiering at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, It’s What’s Inside seemed to come a bit out of nowhere. Despite its prime positioning in the Midnight section during the first weekend of the fest, the high-concept thriller features no big stars and no huge special effects. It popped off the screen in a big way, delighting festivalgoers and landing a big sale to Netflix only days later. Written and directed by Greg Jardin, this is a deceptively small film that relies heavily on old-fashioned tropes: an engaging mystery, some nifty editing, and a good score.
Ahead of this Friday’s release on Netflix, I spoke with Jardin about his long road to directorial success, the fast-paced aesthetic built from years of making music videos, working with a completed score on set, and pushing for Giallo-inspired lighting alongside grounded character motivations.

In It’s What’s Inside, a group of old college friends reunite to party together one last time before one of them—a strapping rich kid named Reuben (Devon Terrell)—gets married. They had planned for a night of drunken revelry and nostalgic reminiscence, only for things to take a very different turn when Forbes (David W Thompson)—the oddball friend who none of them have heard from since their student days—turns up clutching a mysterious briefcase.
Writer-director Greg Jardin’s debut feature is whirring with creative energy right from the get-go. In honor of the film’s 60th anniversary, “Off/Season” is proud to present “Strait-Jacket” from B-Movie horror master William Castle. One of the Sundance breakouts this year was Greg Jardin’s directorial debut It’s What’s Inside. Starring Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Gavin Leatherwood, Nina Bloomgarden, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Reina Hardesty, Devon Terrell, and David Thompson, it follows a group of friends who gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges. Ahead of an October 4 drop on Netflix, the first trailer has arrived.
Dan Mecca said in his Sundance review, “There are few things better than when a good idea blossoms into a great movie. It’s What’s Inside, written and directed by Greg Jardin, achieves this rare feat. DIY in both aesthetic and narrative build, it suggests a labor of love. The premise is simple: a group of old college friends party at a big house the night before one of them gets married.

"It is us against them!" So what's in the box? You have to watch to find out! Netflix has revealed an official trailer for one of my favorite midnight movies of 2024 - called It's What's Inside. It originally premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews (here's mine) and became one of the big breakouts from the festival - playing at Beyond Fest next. A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges. Starring Brittany O'Grady, James Morosini, Gavin Leatherwood, Nina Bloomgarden, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Reina Hardesty, Devon Terrell, and David Thompson. This was shot in secret, made in secret, and it was a big surprise blowing the roof off of the venue at Sundance. I love it! Such a clever, smart, genre reinvention that is a complete mindfuck.

I love a twisted party-horror flick like Talk to Me, Bodies Bodies Bodies, or the incredibly underrated +1 (aka Plus One but not the Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine movie), which might explain my adoration of Greg Jardin’s It’s What’s Inside. You might recognize the title for its astounding $17 million sale to Netflix out of Utah’s Sundance Film Festival, which is money well spent for the streamer. Jardin writes, directs, and edits a shifty yet cleanly conveyed science fiction thriller that feels akin to the functional simplicity of Shane Carruth’s Primer meets a boozy [redacted as per filmmaker and studio wishes]. Filmmakers who’ve tackled similarly fantastical concepts have stumbled over needlessly complicated narratives, while Jardin focuses on digital-age comedics and dire consequences that entertain with ease.
We first meet struggling couple Shelby (Brittany O'Grady) and Cyrus “The Virus” (James Morosini): stagnant, physically starved "lovers" who get into heated arguments about when to have sex.

As social media has taken over all of our lives, there’s a lot of room for new and unique insecurities to develop. Why don’t I look perfect when I’m exercising? Why can’t I get my hair to do that? How can I compete when my boyfriend is lusting after Instagram girls? And the most mortifying of them all: How do I get more followers?
The beautiful but unconfident Shelby (Brittany O’Grady) has all of these concerns and couldn’t hide them if she tried. Her boyfriend Cyrus (James Morosini) seems bored with her. They aren’t having sex anymore and Shelby secretly wonders if it’s because he’s still into his college crush, the blonde Instagram influencer Nikki (Alycia Debnam-Carey).
In the early moments of the film, Shelby hides in the bathroom placing a straight-haired wig over her long black kinky curls. Though it’s never overtly addressed,...

The sun is setting on the 2024 installment of the Sundance Film Festival, closing out a milestone 40th edition and leaving many headlines in its wake. Those included a whopping $17 million Netflix acquisition for a buzzy directorial debut, a pro-Palestine protest that shut down Main Street, a Sundance debut for a former first daughter, and the rise of standing ovations across Park City. If you weren’t able to make it out to the mountain, The Hollywood Reporter has rounded up what you missed.
Drawn Out or Dud Dealmaking?
Making an appearance as the moderator for the opening day press conference, Jason Blum, a festival veteran, offered an earnest plea for buyers: “The release schedule for the first half of the year is decimated, and I hope, particularly for theatrical distributors, that the market should be very, very healthy.” Whether or not this will happen remains to be seen. As with the past few years,...

It’s easy to see what prompted Netflix to pony up a cool $17 million for Sundance Midnight entry It’s What’s Inside. A frantically paced, visually flashy psychological thriller with elements of sci-fi and horror, writer-director Greg Jardin’s first feature paves the way for a sequel, perhaps even a franchise. The central device — which press notes request be kept under wraps — would just need to find its way into the hands of a new group of attractive 20-somethings with uncomfortable secrets to be revealed. No star salaries are required and it pretty much all takes place in a single setting.
In addition to making commercials and music videos, Jardin has been a go-to guy for Netflix promos, so it’s fitting that his entry into the genre big leagues will be via the streaming platform. There’s a strong chance that will also prove a stepping-stone to the...
