In “Sinners,” Jordan plays twin vampire brothers who return to their hometown in an attempt to start over. Once there, they discover something even more evil has taken root – the Ku Klux Klan (Jack O’Connell plays the evil racist baddie). The movie is set in 1930s Jim Crow South, with production taking place in New Orleans earlier this year — but this being a Coogler film, it’s filled with the kind of rich detail that brings history to life. True to their word, Warner Bros. has now dropped the trailer online, and you can check it out in the embed above!

Plot details for Sinners have largely been kept under wraps, but the project has been described as a period thriller involving vampires. Here’s the official synopsis: Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.” Insiders reported that the film would be set in the “Jim Crow-era South and possibly involve both vampires and Southern supernatural traditions.

Showtime announced that Blair Underwood and Lola Kirk have been cast in the upcoming drama series “Three Women” based on Lisa Taddeo’s book of the same name.

As a series regular, Underwood will play Richard, a popular chef who is blindsided when his wife Sloane (DeWanda Wise) enters a sexual relationship with another man. Lola Kirke plays the recurring guest role of Jenny, a free spirit who may be the only woman Sloane has ever been close to.

I know Ben Platt predominantly from his major role in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen and his comedy role in Pitch Perfect, but he’s a good actor with a bright future at his feet, and small independent drama Broken Diamonds appealed to me. With Platt playing Scott, a twenty-something writer who plans to move to Paris to focus on his writing, he encounters a hurdle in the form of his father passing away and his sister, Cindy, who struggles from mental illness, being temporarily injected into his life on a wider level.

It’s a really well acted film and director Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) does a wonderful job at keeping the camera on the emotions of his actors, a fly on the wall to the proceedings. It’s a nicely written movie,...

Living in the modern world is hell.

That’s the point made, over and over, in the new anthology series “The Premise,” an FX on Hulu original. This show’s five half-hour vignettes, each written or co-written by show creator (and former “The Office” actor/writer) B.J. Novak, examine concerns of this historical moment: Topics include bullying and income inequality, the general public’s relationship with fame, the self-serving nature of allies to social-justice movements, and addiction to social media.

It’s this last one that gives the game away. Most of the episodes feature lengthy, clumsy bits of dialogue or monologue that feel ripped from the daily concerns — and the ranty, discursive way of talking at, not to, one’s followers — of social media. The untitled HBO series about the Los Angeles Lakers has added five to its cast, with Bo Burnham also exiting the series.

It was reported in March that Burnham had been cast in the role of Celtics legend Larry Bird. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Burnham is no longer involved with the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Sean Patrick Small will instead play Bird. Bird is described as a basketball star who hates the spotlight; preferring instead: Budweiser, ratty jeans, and brutally, ruthlessly destroying his opponents on the court. He and Magic Johnson, who have been pitted against one another since their legendary NCAA championship duel, continue their rivalry for the next decade.

Bo Burnham has exited HBO’s Los Angeles Lakers drama series and the role of Larry Bird has been recast with newcomer Sean Patrick Small. Deadline revealed Burnham was set to play the legendary basketballer in March.

Rachel Hilson and Olli Haaskivi have also joined the cast.

Hilson stars as Cindy Day, Magic’s girlfriend.

Haaskivi will bring to life Nike’s enigmatic and forward-thinking founder, Phil Knight.

The FX network seems to be in the anthology market to stay. After the recent release of Ryan Murphy’s latest “American Horror Stories” series, actor B.J. Novak is entering the genre with his new series, “The Premise.”

Here’s the synopsis according to FX: “‘The Premise’ is a bold and provocative half-hour anthology of standalone stories about the times we live in. The curated collection of character-driven episodes challenges our shared morality tales, choosing art over argument, as it engages with the most relevant and meaningful issues of the modern era.”

The first trailer for the series dropped on Friday and includes several of the A-list actors that will be telling Novak’s various stories. “Dear Evan Hansen” actor Ben Platt will be doing an episode playing a “white, woke, twenty-something ally to social justice causes” who discovers his poorly filmed sex tape provides evidence against a police officer in a disputed incident.

With his new FX anthology series The Premise, creator B.J. Novak looked “to say something simple and sincere” about some of the most compelling issues of our time, “exploring an idea thoroughly and moving the hell on.”

“I wrote these scripts and said, ‘These are stories about our time, the way I see them,'” Novak shared during the show’s TCA panel on Friday. “It was really about, how do we tell the stories of our time by looking them in the eye and having fun with them?”

The Premise is a generally comedic collection of “one-of-a-kind stories,” which Novak pitched to FX as “The Twilight Zone without the sci-fi,” or “Black Mirror without the dystopian technology.”

In its first season, the show will tackle such topics as gun violence, allyship, social justice, social media, bullying, revenge, racial and immigration issues, celebrity, sex, incentives, and religion, putting its own unique twist on each.

B.J. Novak’s FX on Hulu anthology series “The Premise” aims to bring humor to some of the most serious topics of our time — like gun violence — though some of its pauses are for deep thoughts and not belly laughs.

Friday, at FX’s second (of three) Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour days, reporters got the first look at the show’s trailer. The sneak peak starts off on one squirrelly fella’s “worst sex tape ever,” one that could actually bright to justice police misbehavior taking place in the background. A little later, Lucas Hedges, as an international pop star, offers to have sex with whomever ends up valedictorian of a local high school. Suddenly, studying is all the rage.

FX released a new trailer for “American Horror Story: Double Feature,” the 10th season of “American Horror Story,” which premieres on FX on Aug. 25 at 10 p.m.

Each season of the horror anthology series follows new characters in a new setting, and this “Red Tide” trailer sees a struggling writer (Finn Wittrock), his pregnant wife (Lily Rabe) and their young daughter move to an isolated beach town with mysterious residents for the winter.
