The intriguing drama, Country of Blind, featuring Hina Khan, Shoib Nikash Shah, Pradhuman Singh, Mir Sarwar, and Inaamulhaq, written and directed by Rahhat Shah Kazmi, is set to release on October 6th in the US.
Adapted from H.G. Wells’ 1904 story of the same name, the film transplants the tale from a fictitious mountain in Ecuador to the Himalayas of India. Set in the 18th century, Country of Blind follows the journey of Abhimanyu when he slips off a cliff and falls a thousand feet into a forgotten valley. He finds a country cut off from the rest of the world, where all the inhabitants are blind. What happens when a sighted man falls into a society that has existed for fifteen generations with no understanding of what it means to see? This movie explores the answer to that question.
The villagers do not have any concept about the world outside their valley.

There is a visible dearth of chick flicks, and more so, films that celebrate woman and womanhood happen few and far between. ‘Thank You For Coming’ is one such film with a gang of girls who smash the patriarchy and share such a bond that they talk about everything – life, life-partners, individual problems and so much more. For the uninitiated, the pun in the title might be a hint for the audience, especially the extrovert females, about a sense of what they can expect – female friendships, relationships, marriage, dating, sex, orgasms, et al.
Tyfc (Thank You For Coming) opens up about men getting wrong or rather misunderstood thinking women don’t have needs at all. It seldom occurs to them that women too, crave for sexual pleasures.

When it seems that every Indian or Pakistani romance coming down the pike centers on the traditional patriarchal values of arranged marriages and dowry (even when their message is about escaping those constraints), finding a story that refuses to use such notions as anything more than a distraction proves refreshing in the best way. Because that’s what it is for Kanika Kapoor (Bhumi Pednekar) in Karan Boolani’s Thank You for Coming. She’s rejected that path her entire life. The only reason she’s even considering it now is because she’s already tried everything else. Well… almost everything else.
Despite the synopsis for Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh’s script distilling it down to Kanika’s alcohol haze making her forget who helped her reach her first orgasm at age 32 on her engagement night and the subsequent adventure to discover the culprit’s identity, that event doesn...

OpinionWhile ‘Rasbhari’ talks about teen sexuality in a refreshing way, it has some questionable sequences too.Geetika MantriWarning: Major spoilers ahead Actor Swara Bhasker’s web series Rasbhari, directed by Nikhil Bhat and written by Shantanu Srivastava, released on June 24 on Amazon Prime Video, and has been the subject of debate on social media ever since. Although the series received several rave reviews which called it feminist and progressive, it has also been downvoted on IMDb to a sad 2.4. Some of the negative responses to the series can no doubt be attributed to trolls who routinely target Swara for her political views, but there have also been others who have taken exception to the content of the show for its depiction of a woman's sexuality. Having watched Rasbhari though, I found that the series is indeed problematic but not in the way that those threatened by women's sexuality think it is.

BollywoodThe poster shows Dulquer and Sonam holding and peeking out from behind the novel by Anuja Chauhan, on which the film is based.Tnm StaffSouth Indian actor Dulquer Salmaan’s Bollywood film with Sonam Kapoor has been creating quite a buzz lately. And on Tuesday, the actor released the poster of the film, The Zoya Factor, on his Instagram account. The poster shows Dulquer and Sonam holding and peeking out from behind the eponymous novel by Anuja Chauhan, on which the film is based. The film is directed by Abhishek Sharma and bankrolled by Fox Star Studios. The screenplay has been penned by Neha Rakesh Sharma, and the dialogues are written by Pradhuman Singh. The much-awaited film is slated for release on April 5, 2019, said Sonam Kapoor while sharing the poster on Twitter. Super happy to be a part of this unique story #ZoyaFactor an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's bestseller. Releasing on April 5, 2019! Directed by #AbhishekSharma, co-starring @dulQuer @foxstarhindi #AdlabsFilms pic.twitter.com/Xz7G909VDF — Sonam Kapoor (@sonamakapoor) March 13, 2018 Released in 2008, the wildly popular novel is the story of Zoya Singh Solanki, an advertising executive, who ends up being the ‘lucky charm’ for the Indian cricket team. While Zoya’s role will be essayed by Sonam, Dulquer will be seen in the character of Nikhil Khoda, the skipper of the Indian cricket team, who is sceptical about the hype surrounding Zoya and according to the novel, does not believe in luck. Abhishek Sharma had talked about the film in an earlier interview, and said, “Cricket woven into a rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, it’s an amazing book for a screen adaptation.” He added that the additional dialogues are being written by Anuja herself. It was apparently Dulquer’s role in the Mani Ratnam film Ok Kanmani which convinced Abhishek to cast him in The Zoya Factor. The Tere Bin Laden fame director admits that he wasn’t aware of Dulquer’s work until he was made to see the trailer of the Mani Ratnam blockbuster, which clinched the deal. This is Dulquer’s second Bollywood project. He made his debut with Ronnie Screwala’s Karwan, which is yet to release. It also stars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar.

Bollywood take note, director Abhishek Sharma’s satire, Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive, will take a swipe at your film industry and won’t shy away from tearing it down — one joke at a time.
“Everybody here is only trained to hear good things — something negative is not tolerated. But in the kind of films I make, I love laughing at myself, and that’s how it should be,” Sharma said in a recent interview.
Enter his latest comedy, a spin-off from the 2010 sleeper hit Tere Bin Laden. Set against the backdrop of terrorist Osama Bin Laden’s presumed death, Sharma wove a comedy about the Us government’s desperation to provide proof of Laden’s mysterious capture and killing.

Satirizing terrorism is as tricky as making molar surgery mirthful. Abhishek Sharma did it once in Tere Bin Laden, then fell flat on his farce with a raunchy sexed-up version of Basu Chatterjee’s Shaukeen. So Sharma is back doing what he thinks he is best at.
Generating titters out of terrorism.
And though it has its ha-hee-hee-ho-ho moments, it is not quite the….errr… blast that it promises to be, mainly because the characters behave as though they are in a stand-up comedy act where every actor must…well, act. So everyone is acting all the time…sometimes double-acting because some of the pointedly parodic people, like Sikandar Kher who plays – don’t laugh – a CIA agent masquerading as a Bollywood film producer – lead double lives, alas, failing to generate double laughter.
Farce is clearly not young Kher’s forte, though what is his forte nobody knows.

Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive actor, Pradhuman Singh, says that fellow co-actor Sikandar Kher is the dark horse of the upcoming film, courtesy of his intriguing double role in it.
“Sikandar is the dark horse of the film. His character is brilliant. He’s playing a white guy and a Punjabi guy; it’s a kind of a double role – the same person, but he changes his appearance,” Pradhuman says.
While he appears with blonde hair and a foreign accent as a white guy, Sikandar Kher, the son of seasoned Indian actress Kirron Kher, and the step-son of actor Anupam Kher, sports a hairy look and a paunch for his Indian Punjabi avatar in the film.
Pradhuman, who famously essayed ‘Noora’ in the 2010 Tere Bin Laden, says he had “unparalleled fun” while working with Sikandar and Manish Paul in the movie’s sequel. “None of them (the actors) had any insecurity in them.

For Manish Paul, featuring in the sequel of Tere Bin Laden was a huge responsibility. The TV host and actor said he simply gave his best shot to the film. “It was definitely a burden for me. The first part was a sleeper hit. I had to keep in mind several things. But I still did not pay much attention to the burden part because I have a feeling that this film is surely going to repeat history. The script of the film is strong and we had a great time shooting it,” said Manish.
The film stars actors Sikandar Kher and Pradhuman Singh alongside Manish Paul and he adds, “We were like brothers on the set. We never treated each other like co-stars. Working with Abhishek is irritating initially because he does a lot of workshops, which really bug everyone. But we later realised that it helped. He used...

When director Abhishek Sharma began penning a spin-off to his 2010 surprise hit, Tere Bin Laden, alongside his onscreen Osama bin Laden, played by actor Pradhuman Singh, the writer-director started scouting for the perfect actor to play the character of American President, Barack Obama. He instantly knew he had found his man when he came across a video titled ‘President Obama on Death of Osama bin Laden’, which features American rapper-comedian, Iman Crosson, known for satirising the President’s speeches through rap.
“My team got in touch with Iman who’s based in Los Angeles. He flew down to Mumbai and we shot with him on a large set of Abbottabad, recreating the speech and the rap,” said the director Abhishek.
Iman has been invited to the White House on two occasions and has duly impressed the President with his impersonations. In fact, Obama calls him his ‘best mimic’. To top that,...

Abhishek Sharma's last film Tere Bin Laden, a satirical take on the American obsession over Osama Bin Laden, the 'most wanted man' in the world, proved to be a sleeper hit in 2010. The film marked the entry of Pakistani actor Ali Zafar, in the world of Bollywood. Now, we have a sequel to the same titled Tere Bin Laden Dead or Alive starring anchor turned actor Manish Paul.
Tere Bin Laden Dead or Alive revolves around the happenings of May 2, 2011, the day when Osama Bin Laden was executed, as claimed by the American Media. According to director Abhishek Sharma, Osama's death remains a mystery which could very well make way for a gripping plot for the second installment. The actor, who played the role of Bin Laden in the prequel, Pradhuman Singh will continue his act as Osama. The sequel, just like its previous installments, will be a satire...

This one is going to be a week of comedies for Bollywood. Dilliwaalli Zaalim Girlfriend and Hunterr arrive together, and both are youth centric affairs. Let’s talk about Dilliwaalli Zaalim Girlfriend first. The film has seen some good visibility coming its way, courtesy the songs that have fetched attention during the last few weeks. Moreover, it has Divyendu Singh and Pradhuman Singh promising good humor, something that they have demonstrated well before in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Chashme Baddoor and Tere Bin Laden. Since the film promises to present the quirky side of Delhi, one expects some good fun here.
On the other hand Hunterr has adult content at its core. Gulshan Devaiah, who has shown good range in films like Shaitaan, Ram Leela and Hate Story, leads the show with Radhika Apte (Badlapur) bringing on the spunk. Since Anurag Kashyap’s name is attached to the film,...

Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend has been given a U/A certificate by the censor board after 63 mutes. The mutes include words like ‘saala’ and ‘saali’. This has not gone well with the director of the film, Japinder Kaur.
Says the miffed director, “If there is no thematic issue, I don’t understand the problem in just picking up singular words that are local lingo.”
She further adds, “To bring about any change in rules, we should systematically lay down guidelines with time limits. The censor should inform that films going into going into production now should follow new rules; because they have the space to, not the ones that are already completed and have been in working progress in the last 1-2 years.”
Produced by Manjeet Kaur & Tarnpreet Singh, Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend stars Divyendu Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Ira Dubey, Prachi Mishra, Pradhuman Singh & others and is set to release on 20th March,...

Ira Dubey, who is playing a typical lively Delhi girl in her upcoming movie Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend, was easily able to adapt the character and do the role as she has spent a good amount of time in the city for her academic curriculum.
Speaking about her character Ira says, “My character Nimmi is pliant yet gutsy. I tried to make her as relatable as I could. She knows how to stand up for herself when wronged. The best part about the experience was associating with talented actors like Divyendu (Sharma), Pradhuman Singh and the inimitable Jackie Da (Jackie Shroff). Our director Japinder Kaur made sure that each character is fresh and the narrative has a contemporary Delhi setting.”
Debutant director Japinder adds, “We needed somebody who looked intelligent and I felt she has the aura of a strong woman. Her beauty is just a bonus.”

The songs of Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend are already rocking the music scene, but when you ask the cast and the crew of the film, what’s the one thing you remember from the film they would say they remember being surprised at how their debutante director, Japinder Kaur went around breaking every rules of direction and came out a winner!
When asked, if he ever felt the pressure of her unconventional direction, lead actor Divyendu Sharma quipped, “Ya, sometimes I used to feel that she is too quality conscious, it was a tiresome affair keeping up with that. Whatever she wanted she used to ensure she gets it out of us. Sometimes she used to get nervous but yet, from all her nervousness she used to get positive which encapsulates her artistic way. At the music launch of Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend, Jazzy B minced no words in calling Bollywood ‘unprofessional’. When asked why he doesn’t do much work in Bollywood, he said, “Bollywood to me is very unprofessional. Everything is last minute here. ‘Abhi gana chahiye, kal banake doge?’ is what people want here. That is not how a song is made.”
He went on to add, “Sometimes we even take two or three months to make a song. I have got a name to protect. I made a couple of songs but I wasn’t satisfied with the music. So I didn’t go ahead with it. I have done this film because the production is very good. I do little work to protect my image.”
Jazzy also said that it took a lot of time to make ‘Zaalim Dilli’ song from the film. “It took them six months to make the beat of this song.

Divendu Sharma’s films thus far seem to see him having a tough luck with girls, while he stalked girls in his first film Pyar Ka Panchnama, Chashme Bhaddoor too saw him having a similar fate with girls, and guess what, his next is called Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend, which clearly speaks for itself.
Given his penchant for such roles, Divyendu needed to be asked if his choice of roles come from personal experience to which the actor refuted vehemently. Sharma who plays the lead in Japinder Kaur’s Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend, said he hasn’t stalked girls, neither any of his girlfriends been ‘zaalim’, “I am quite fortunate that I had no cruel girlfriends in my personal life. In case of girlfriends, I faced no such memorable incident and I don’t think I’m a kind of guy who hangs around girls all day long. My mind was always into theater.

From Dubai to Mumbai, it has been quite some journey for young Japinder Kaur who is making her foray into the world of Bollywood. An erstwhile assistant to Prakash Jha (with whom she worked on Aarakshan) and boasting of a blooming post production studio in Dubai (which she runs with her brother Tarnpreet Singh – who is also the producer of her debut feature film), Japinder is stepping into Bollywood with Dilliwaalli Zaalim Girlfriend. We get into a quick conversation with her.
A love story with a thrill element to it – Guess Dilliwaalli Zaalim Girlfriend is one cocktail of a film?
While it is my first film, I pretty much feel that I am an audience first. I don’t have any checklist or criteria that I am following at all. As an audience when I watch a film, I enjoy a cocktail. Same is the case with my friends and family.

After the massive success of ‘Lovely’ from Happy New Year, Dr. Zeus is back with another funky number ‘Tipsy Hogai’ from the upcoming film, Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend. The song features the vivacious Natalia and has all the elements of becoming the next sensation.
Says Japinder, the director of Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend, “Every guy has two things at the top of his wish list, that is, a hot girl and a fancy car. That is exactly what our character fantasizes about in ‘Tipsy Hogai’. The music video is shot in a very international style and has the sizzling beauty, Natalia Kapchuk featuring in it. Going by the feel of this theme, Dr. Zeus was the perfect option as he blends international beats with a Punjabi tadka very well. The lyrics were then developed from the female perspective and are absolutely naughty and aesthetically simple.”
