Special Needs star: 'Alan McGee is a moron'
Special Needs guitarist Andrew Pearson has hit out at former Creation Records boss Alan McGee and other employees of the music business. The band were briefly signed to McGee's Poptones label in 2004, releasing the single 'Francesca' through the company in the same year. Asked if the recently-reformed group were tempted to sign up to another label to release their planned new material, Pearson told Digital Spy that he was "not really that fussed". "If someone said here's a million quid, go and record an album, and live in the South of France for the next five years d**king around, we'd probably do that," he explained. (more)...

Special Needs plan 'quarterly report'
Special Needs will release new songs every few months rather than record a full second album, guitarist Andrew Pearson has claimed. Last month, the band played their first public gig since they split in 2005 with a show at Camden's Proud venue. Pearson revealed that the group had also played a secret warm-up show as Glenn Ponder and Lazarus at The Enterprise in Chalk Farm weeks earlier. "It was really good," Pearson told Digital Spy. "The worry was that we'd rehearse and it'd be laboured or it wouldn't feel energetic - and we're older. As soon as we played a couple of old songs, straight away it was just really, really easy to play. "There's a real energy and excitement about what we're doing.
