At Star Wars Celebration in 2023, Lucasfilm revealed its plans for a new Star Wars movie revolving around Daisy Ridley's Rey Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still attached to direct the movie, which has been through multiple writers since it was first announced.

Now, with The Adjustment Bureau and The Bourne Ultimatum's George Nolfi hard at work on the latest draft, scooper Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com) has shared some new insights into Lucasfilm's post-The Rise of Skywalker plans.

Management and production company 42 has named Martin Rakusen as its new chief operating officer, effective immediately. At long last, Netflix is pulling back the curtain on Kathryn Bigelow's mysterious new movie at the streaming service. Since last year, the Oscar-winning director behind The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, and Point Break has been quietly assembling a star-studded cast for her first feature in eight years, including Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson. Only now, however, do we have an official title and release date for her long-awaited return, and it is not far off. The project will go under the name A House of Dynamite and is officially set to stream on the platform on October 24. In a rare move by Netflix, it will also be available in select theaters during the month.

Featuring a screenplay penned by Noah Oppenheim, who previously created Netflix's Robert De Niro-led political thriller series Zero Day, A House of Dynamite is also a thriller centered on the White House.

John Boyega has confirmed he's open to returning to Star Wars, and has even hinted he's already spoken to Daisy Ridley about the prospect. John Boyega's Finn is generally seen as one character failed by the sequel trilogy, after posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens appeared to be setting Finn up as a Jedi. The franchise is finally exploring the aftermath of the sequels, though, with Daisy Ridley herself returning. She's hinted she'd love to see Boyega step back into the galaxy too.

Speaking at Fan Expo Philadelphia, in a panel hosted by ScreenRant's Joe Deckelmeier, Boyega confirmed he's open to returning. In fact, he even hinted he's already spoken to Ridley; directly asked whether he'd done so, he simply answered, "Maybe." Love Death + Robots (also known as ) is one of Netflix’s biggest animated productions of all time and one of its biggest hits. Despite the fact that this anthology series embraced the short form, it became a smashing hit and the fans absolutely love it.

Before today, a total of 35 episodes spread through three seasons (volumes) had been released, with the latest season (volume) releasing in 2022. But today, on May 15, 2025, the situation has changed.

When Chioma Ude founded the Africa International Film Festival in 2010, her mission was clear: Create a hub for the African filmmaking community that would connect new and existing African talent with the global film business while also, crucially, providing a place that would empower and train the next generation of the continent’s storytellers.

Already a prolific entrepreneur with a background in marketing and logistics, Ude was making a name for herself in the African entertainment space at the time. After doing a road show for the Nigeria Film and Videos Censors Board in London, she was brought aboard as a project manager for the Ion International Film festival, a global touring festival which was headed to Nigeria.

Her work impressed local government officials and the experience, says Ude, gave her the idea to launch a Lagos-based international film festival with a wider focus on the African continent.

Finn Halligan, Screen International’s executive editor, reviews and new talent, is to leave the publication to become director of international programs for Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival.

Halligan will depart Screen at the end of June, after working through Cannes Film Festival, as well as preparing the 2025 edition of Screen’s UK & Ireland Stars of Tomorrow showcase.

Halligan has worked at Screen since 2004, across two spells. She was reviews editor from 2004 to 2010, before leaving to work as a consultant author, editor and critic.

However, before Boyega became Finn, a galactic hero, the actor played Moses in the 2011 sci-fi horror Attack the Block. While he wasn't a valiant force-sensitive resistance fighter, Boyega's Moses helps defend his neighborhood from an alien threat. "A group of valiant teenagers ventures out to battle a savage alien incursion. With the invasive species jeopardizing their vicinity in Southern London, they fight to succeed in their mission," reads the official synopsis.
