Jimmy Fallon and ‘Tonight Show’ Team Just Wants to Have Fun
Jimmy Fallon
In a self-moderated panel on Tuesday, Jimmy Fallon and a collection of his creative team sat down on the “Tonight Show” stage at 30 Rock to drive home their mission statement: to have fun and provide “an escape” for their audience during a particularly turbulent time.

“There’s a lot of sad news we could talk about,” Fallon acknowledged. But what he hopes “The Tonight Show” can do is “help people get away from it.”

The Fyc Writers Guild panel also included director Dave Diomedi, Digital Media Director Julie Harrison-Harney, writer Arthur Meyer, head writer Amy Ozols, and producers Mike Dicenzo, Gerard Bradford, and Katie Hockmeyer. All emphasized that they view “The Tonight Show” as a true variety show, complete with creative musical acts and the parlor games that first made Fallon’s version of “The Tonight Show” stand out. When Fallon, acting as moderator, asked what their “craziest show” was,...

Garry Marshall, Happy Days Creator, TV Writer, Producer and Director, Dies at 81
If you are a fan of entertainment, the odds are, you're a fan of Garry Marshall.

The prolific writer, director and producer of television and movies died today at the age of 81 due from complications of pneumonia after a stroke.

Marshall's long line of televisions credits includes The Dick Van Dyke Show, Happy Days, and The Odd Couple among others.

Marshall's first television credit was for three episodes of The Jack Parr Tonight Show in 1960. Over the next 50 plus years, his credits looks like a virtual history of the American comedy.

Marshall not only created Happy Days, but the three spinoffs that came afterward, including Laverne & Shirley (starring his younger sister, Penny Marshall), Mork & Mindy (starring the late Robin Williams and Joanie & Chachi.

At one time, Marshall was writing three of the top four programs of the 1978-79 television season.

Think about where we'd be without Marshall. Most likely, there...

Nominations For The 68th Annual Writers Guild Of America Awards
The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.

Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

Billy Bob Thornton, Colin Hanks, Jason Schwartzman, and Allison Tolman in Fargo (2014)
HBO’s The Leftovers is making a sudden arrival in awards season.

Nominations for the 2016 Critics’ Choice Television Awards were announced early Monday and Damon Lindelof’s dark dissertation on loss and grief led the drama field with an impressive six nominations, including best series, lead actor (for Justin Theroux), lead actress (for Carrie Coon), supporting actor (for Christopher Eccleston) and supporting actress (for Ann Dowd and Regina King).

The Leftovers‘ strong showing comes less than a week after HBO renewed the show for a third and final season (and just days after the series’ Golden Globe nomination shutout).

Furious 7 (2015)
Watch Jimmy Fallon parody Furious 7 on the streets of New York City
Furious 7 (2015)
Everyone's talking about the record-breaking Us opening of Furious 7 over the weekend.

Naturally, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon wanted to cash in on the success of the action epic on his own NBC series on Tuesday (April 7).

Fallon sent his writer Arthur down to the streets of New York City to gauge the public's interest in seeing the new Fast & Furious movie.

His own unique twist had passers-by answer questions about the movie while operating a car wheel and being blasted by a fan in the style of Furious 7's car chases.

By-in-large, the New Yorkers questioned were friendly and enthusiastic about the movie – but it's also likely that they ended up having 'bad hair' days.

The Tonight Show airs at 11.35pm Et weeknights on NBC.

2014 Emmy Nominations: True Detective and Fargo Get Love; Emmy Rossum Snubbed
The 2014 Emmy Nominations were announced this morning, and like always they will please and upset people depending on whom you talk to. The great news is that TV Drama is alive and well; it has to be celebrated and just a nomination for attention makes me happy. If you haven’t been watching or have watched shows like True Detective, Fargo, Louis, and Shameless, maybe it’s time. The quick snub I saw would go the mentioned Shameless and the performance by Emmy Rossum (pictured above). She was perfect this past season and watching her on screen was consistently memorizing; another season is on the way thankfully.

The best new TV shows of the year, Fargo and True Detective share a lot in common. Both shows are doing one and done seasons meaning each season is set to have a new cast and with True Detective a new location. They...

Mary-Kate Olsen, John Stamos, Andrea Barber, Candace Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, Bob Saget, Jodie Sweetin, Blake Tuomy-Wilhoit, Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit, and Scott Weinger in Full House (1987)
Need a little Uncle Jesse in your life? You got it, dude! It’s been almost 20 years since Jesse and The Rippers performed together, but the fictional "Full House" band reunited on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Friday and they absolutely delivered.

John Stamos, who played Jesse Katsopolis on "Full House," truly got in the spirit of the Jesse and The Rippers reunion, donning his signature mullet and black leather vest to sing a medley (above) of "Forever" by the Beach Boys, Elvis' "Little Sister," Chan Romero's "Hippy Hippy Shake" (which the band last performed at Walt Disney World on an episode of “Full House") and last, but certainly not least, the "Full House" theme song. Diehard "Full House" fans will notice the Smash Club sign hanging from the ceiling in Jesse and The Rippers' honor. Of course, Stamos threw in a "Have Mercy" mid-performance for good measure...

Watch: How Jimmy Fallon Trolled Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber
Have you ever noticed that literally anything Justin Bieber posts on Twitter gets retweeted at an astronomical rate? Case in point: The tweet "having fun" has over 75,000 retweets.

One of the writers at "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Arthur Meyer, decided to do a little experiment with this. He tried tweeting the same thing as Bieber, and each night this week on "Late Night," revealed how many RTs his identical tweets got compared with the teenage pop star.

Well, Bieber got wind of this, and decided to play along. When Meyer tweeted "we work hard," aping Bieber's tweet, Bieber himself RTd that. So Fallon talked to Bieber, and asked him do the reverse, and to Rt something nonsensical that Meyer tweeted.

Meyer tweeted "frog lawn mower," and Bieber kept his promise by doing the same:

When Bieber tweeted it, "frog lawn mower" became a worldwide trending topic.

To show his...

Watch: Greedy Bankers Are Really Big Babies
The world of finance can be terribly complex, which is hard to compromise with the fact that so many bankers act like overgrown children.

In this new video with Dan Klein ("Onion News Network") and Arthur Meyer ("Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"), two finance bros walk around Wall Street describing why they're so pleased with themselves -- and why they really just want bigger toys.

The sad thing is that it's hardly a parody. (Warning, some Nsfw language.)...

Watch: Go Behind The Scenes Of 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'
Jimmy Fallon in Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (2009)
If you're looking for a new Internet rabbit hole to fall into, the web team of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" has just the answer for you. They put together an seriously excellent interactive tour of the studio, located in NBC's headquarters at 30 Rock.

In the videos, Booner the Page -- who looks suspiciously like Fallon writer Arthur Meyer, one of the minds behind the Fuds menu phenomenon -- brings you through the studio and offices of the show. Check out Jimmy's office, the writers room, the kitchen and of course the "blogger cave," where you meet the excellent web team. And you, the viewer, get to elect where to go, because "Late Night" is nothing if not a democratic experience.

Oh, and there's a yeti on the loose, but the show's resident beekeeper is tracking him down throughout the series. You'll have to watch to see if he catches him.
