In the small, yet notably charming town of Raahe on Finland's North West coast, Vesa Manninen began a journey fueled by a dream: to weave stories through the lens of a camera. His aspiration led him to the esteemed halls of Turku Academy of Arts, where he honed his craft in filmmaking. Drawing inspiration from cinematic legends like Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, Hayao Miyazaki, and the magical realism of 70's and 80's Hollywood, Vesa cultivated a unique narrative style.
Upon graduating, Vesa ventured into directing, leaving a distinctive mark across various visual storytelling mediums. His eclectic body of work ranges from captivating TV commercials to poignant short films and engaging music videos. A member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) since 2012, he has been a dynamic force in the industry since the turn of the millennium, adept at directing, scriptwriting, editing, cinematography and infusing projects with creative visual effects and conceptual design.
Vesa's ambition and creative spirit culminated in founding Jojimbo Film Production Company, reflecting his unwavering commitment to cinematic storytelling. His journey in the realm of film is marked by a blend of absurd whimsy and ironic dryness, paired with visually impactful craftsmanship, continuing to captivate and transcend the ordinary.
