If we’re being honest, there’s probably been enough TV shows, films and documentaries about Charles Manson to last my lifetime and many others. Even Quentin Tarantino got in on the act a few years ago with Once Upon Time In Hollywood but that doesn’t seem to be stopping directors continuing to make them. They are obviously still popular and people think they can add something new and interesting to everything else that has been told. The Resurrection of Charles Manson is the latest movie to try and do that.
This one is a little different because it doesn’t really feature Charles Manson himself, so that title is a little misleading. In it, a couple are putting in an audition tape for a film about Charles Manson.

Actor Frank Grillo recounts the disastrous first screening of his son's debut movie, Man's Son. Grillo has been acting since the early 1990s, with his first substantial role being on the soap opera Guiding Light. As his career continued, he bounced from minor roles in films like Minority Report to more significant roles in shows like The Shield and Prison Break. In addition, he appeared with Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness, acted alongside Liam Neeson in Joe Carnahan's The Grey, and helped coach Joel Edgerton to glory in Gavin O'Connor's Warrior.
One of Grillo's most well-known roles is Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character debuted as a villain in 2016's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Rumlow returned in Captain America: Civil War, made a brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame and Grillo even voiced the character for Marvel's What If... Disney+ series. And while...

From the director of the Nicolas Cage action horror film Willy's Wonderland comes The Accursed. The horror thriller centers on Elly, a young woman whose mother has recently died, but not before setting up a job with a family friend to care for their elderly client for a weekend in an isolated cabin. Once there, Elly begins to question the validity of her employer and the dark connection she has with her family.
Sarah Grey leads the cast of The Accursed alongside Sarah Dumont, Mena Suvari, Meg Foster, Alexis Knapp, Sherman Augustus, Kailani Knapp, and Troy James. Unlike Willy's Wonderland, director Kevin Lewis brings a more slow-burn and character-driven approach to his latest horror genre project, setting audiences up for an emotional story with a shocking final act.

The demons of one's past aren't the only challenges facing Elly in The Accursed. The film centers on the young protagonist as she is coming to terms with her mother's death and takes a job as a caretaker for the client of a family friend for one weekend, only to learn the isolated cabin in the woods holds dark secrets about her past, as well as a threat to her future.

"The Devil himself never takes possession, he sends one of his agents." Screen Media Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled The Accursed, made by filmmaker Kevin Lewis (of Nicolas Cage's Willy's Wonderland most recently). Not to be confused with the other horror film also known as The Accursed released last year - this one is about a demon taking over an old woman in a cabin. Elly is asked by a family friend to look after an elderly woman who is living in a remote cabin for a few days. She agrees, but soon discovers there is a demon hiding in the woman just waiting to break free. Uh oh. The horror film stars Mena Suvari, Sarah Grey, Sarah Dumont, Meg Foster, and Alexis Knapp. This looks like it does get super horrifying at the end when the demon wants out and is tired of waiting.

Kevin Lewis will follow up “Willy’s Wonderland” by directing “The Accursed,” a new horror movie about demonic possession that its creators predict will be like if “Sam Raimi and Dario Argento had a love child and James Wan was its uncle.”
Mena Suvari (“American Beauty”), Sarah Grey (Netflix’s “The Order” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow”), and Alexis Knapp (“Pitch Perfect” franchise) head up the cast, which also includes Meg Foster (“The Lords of Salem”) and Sarah Dumont (“Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse”). “Willy’s Wonderland,” an action-comedy horror film, became a pandemic era favorite when it was released on VOD and in limited theatrical release last February.
Rob Kennedy (“Midnight Man”) penned the screenplay for “The Accursed.” According to the official description, it centers on a young woman who faces a horrifying past. When her estranged mother dies by suicide, Elly (Grey) is forced to return home from volunteering as a nurse abroad.

Drive All Night, a new feature film starring Yutaka Takeuchi (Marvel’s The Defenders) will make its World Premiere in competition at the Cinequest Film Festival, running March 20-30th 2021.
Drive All Night follows Dave (Yutaka Takeuchi), a reclusive swing-shift taxi driver, whose night takes an unexpected turn after he picks up a mysterious passenger, Cara (Lexy Hammonds), a young woman hiding a dark secret. As she makes him drive through the city on a series of bizarre excursions, things get increasingly more surreal the further into the night they go. Sarah Dumont plays Morgan, a sympathetic waitress who works at a diner that Dave often frequents, while Johnny Gilligan plays Lenny, an obsessive hitman guided by strange visions, who pursues our protagonists through the night.

"I need you to do something for me..." An early festival promo trailer has debuted for a mysterious indie thriller titled Drive All Night, marking the feature directorial debut of the Bay Area's Peter Hsieh, most known for his stage plays. The film follows Dave, a reclusive swing-shift taxi driver, whose night takes an unexpected turn after he picks up a mysterious passenger, Cara, a young woman hiding a dark secret. As she makes him drive through the city on a series of bizarre excursions, things get increasingly more surreal the further into the night they go. Very cool. "I wanted to develop a complex and layered narrative that became increasingly more dream-like and surreal as the story developed. My goal is to take the audience down the rabbit hole on a fever dream trip through wonderland and hopefully have them come out the other side both baffled and entertained,...

A recreational trip to the mountains becomes a test of human endurance and a fight for survival in 6 Below, arriving in cinemas and on demand on October 13th courtesy of Signature Entertainment. Based on a true story, the film stars Josh Hartnett as Eric LeMarque, a snowboarder that went missing during a storm in the High Sierra Mountains.
Eric LeMarque (Josh Hartnett; TV’s Penny Dreadful, Lucky Number Slevin) is a thrill-seeking snowboarder with a weight of personal demons on his back. When he gets lost in a massive winter storm in the back country of the High Sierra Mountains, LeMarque is pushed to the limit and forced to battle those demons head-on as he fights against the worst the elements can throw at him.
Directed by Scott Waugh (Need For Speed, Act Of Valour), 6 Below also stars Sarah Dumont (Don Jon, TV’s The Royals) and Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino (Summer Of Sam,...

"What do you want from me?!" Momentum Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for a survival movie called 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, telling the faith-based story of a former hockey player and adrenaline junkie who gets stranded in the mountains. He must "battle his own personal demons" in order to survive. Josh Hartnett stars as as Eric LeMarque, who ends up lost while snowboarding in the High Sierras when a massive winter storm hits. Also starring Mira Sorvino, Sarah Dumont, Kale Culley, and Jason Cottle. Despite this being billed as "one of the most amazing tales of survival" it looks pretty much like every other tale of snowy survival. Right down to the wolves. And that song makes my eyes roll big time. Here's a trailer (+ poster) for Scott Waugh's 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain Trailer, on YouTube: When a snowstorm strands former professional hockey player Eric LeMarque...

I sure hope you received some shopping money this holiday season, as this first week of horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases is a big one and we’ve got a lot to look forward to. Scream Factory is also keeping busy with their double feature Blu-ray of The House Where Evil Dwells / Ghost Warrior and Over Your Dead Body, the latest from Takashi Miike. Other notable releases on January 5th include The Inhabitants, Wrecker, Condemned, and Kill Game.

One of the most sexist movies I’ve ever seen. Male juvenile fantasy at its most tired, its most obvious, its most banal, and its most infuriating. I’m “biast” (pro): who doesn’t like a good zombie movie?

It’s not scary and it’s not funny, but this alleged horror comedy does earn one distinction: it’s one of the most sexist movies I’ve ever seen. It’s no Shaun of the Dead – despite copying a few tricks from it – but this silly zombie action romp has some good laughs
As well as many other cheerfully offensive points, this zombie teen action-comedy has some speculation about what happens when animals, as well as humans, get bitten by the horrible bug. It doesn’t have the poignancy or satire shown in Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead – although the fight scene accompanied by Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 is Wrightesque – but there are laughs. Ben (played by Tye Sheridan – from Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life) is a member of a local scout troop, along with sex-obsessed Carter (Logan Miller) and nerdy Augie (Joey Morgan). Ben senses that the scout uniform is not exactly a babe magnet, but when the zombie apocalypse hits, it’s these boys’ can-do scouting spirit that is going to save their local community.

“Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” isn’t scoring well with audiences or critics, merely scaring up $140,000 at the Thursday night previews and receiving terrible reviews across the board. Calling it “dumb,” “badly written” and “an assemblage of poor taste,” the film accumulated a score of 29 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The zombie movie, directed by Christopher Landon and starring Tye Sheridan, David Koechner, Cloris Leachman, Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Joey Morgan, Sarah Dumont and Patrick Schwarzenegger, is full of gore and sex, and that’s about all it has going for it, critics say. 2015 has been an exceptional year for genre-infused comedies and the latest, Christopher Landon’s wickedly entertaining Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, is yet another great addition to this year’s class. A tremendously intelligent and heartfelt example of how to properly balance bawdy humor and horror, Scouts Guide is honestly the most fun I’ve had with a studio film in quite some time and proves there are still ways to make zombies interesting and enjoyable, even to hardcore fans (like myself) who may feel like we’ve seen everything we possibly can with these living dead creatures.
Scouts Guide follows Ben (Tye Sheridan), Carter (Logan Miller) and Augie (Joey Morgan)—a group of high schoolers who still participate in their local Scouts program on the eve of a big campout with their adult supervisor, Scout Leader Rogers (David Koechner). Horror movies are a genre I usually like to watch with as few people as possible simply because general horror audiences are awful. Constant chatting, giggling and laughing at inopportune moments, directing each character and what their decisions should be, or critiquing their actions. Oh, and the cell phones! Dear lord, the cell phones. I let in every distraction, I can’t help it, and it yanks me right of the movie. My screening was an “Ultimate Fan Experience” for Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse in which the general public could purchase a $15 ticket in order to see the movie a day early, get a t-shirt, and dress up like boy scouts — very few dressed like boy scouts, and it was more creepy than it was endearing. The other “bonus” was a seemingly endless pre-show video from DJ Dillon Francis who has literally a couple of seconds of screen time in the film as,...

What is there to say about Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse that its title doesn’t say? At first glance, it seems to be the perfect picture for seventeen-year-olds who have just earned a driver’s license and the freedom to see it without a parent or adult guardian. However, it’s likely most seventeen-year-olds looking for an R-rated comedy have grown out of the brand of humor this one attempts to deliver.
Directed by Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) from a script by Landon, Lona Williams, Emi Mochizuki and Carrie Lee Wilson, it provides exactly what you’d expect: blood, gore, boobs, and nature hikes. If you are uptight and faint of heart, Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse is not your movie. Still here? Ok, good. If you aren’t easily offended, and are looking for a laugh mixed with some jump scares, this movie is for you!
In Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse, three life-long scouts team up with cocktail waitress after a zombie outbreak spreads through their town. They don’t have long to use their survival skills and try to make it out before it’s too late.
Sound like a familiar plot? Sure… but I promise that you haven’t quite seen a zombie movie like this. This movie is completely predictable, but fun! Director Christopher Landon combines the modern-day tale with elements of 80’s horror and adventure films. In other words, there are plenty of cheesy, raunchy moments… and yes, even boobs. While it’s no surprise that a zombie comedy loaded with beat-pounding electronica isn’t exactly canon Romero, the reckless abandon that Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse shows towards genre mythos is asinine, yet admirable(ish). Writers Emi Mochizuki, Carrie Evans, Christopher Landon, and Lona Williams couldn’t care less about undead continuity, as they flesh out a strobe-lit, gooey debauchery in the vein of a much more immature Zombieland. Think American Pie meets Dance Of The Dead, where director Christopher Landon (pulling double duty) goes style over substance into levels of zombie-stripping, head-exploding madness. True horror junkies are going to be crying foul after every unexplained walker detail, but younger fans enamored by gratuitous death sequences will probably be laughing too hard to care as Dillon Francis’ head transforms into a bloody mist.
