Alaina L Lewis is the writer/director of "The Avenue," short film.
She got her start in the entertainment industry 5+ years ago, when she followed her passion for writing into a career as Senior Editor for Clutch Magazine and Senior Writer for YO! Raps Magazine out of the UK. After profiling/interviewing a myriad of individuals such as Russell Simmons, 50 Cent, to Jesse Jackson the Black Eyed Peas and the cast of the Twilight Saga, Lewis decided to finish her degree in screen-writing, where upon graduation from college, she immediately began her own company, Electric Heart Media, LLC.
Through Electric Heart Media, LLC, Lewis has been on an adventure through film, publicity, and musical entertainment that has lead her to France, London, and many pockets of the United States of America and beyond. She's worked with athletes, musical artists, entrepreneurs and non-profits organizations including Young Marqus (YM), Jacob Latimore, Mindless Behavior, Isioma, Marcus Edward Hill (NBA D-League) and more. She's also produced two web series: "Getting Fit After 60," and the "Fresha Minute" for restaurant Pizza Fresha.
For client Young Marqus, Lewis has been an integral part of his career working as his publicist, brand manager and personal videographer. With a video camera in hand she toured with him (YM), Mindless Behavior and Jacob Latimore over the summer filming 22+ cities on the #1 Girl Tour as well as a portion of the making of Mindless Behavior's new album "All Around the World." Her work with YM, assisted in getting his music video "Send Me a Picture" featured on BET's 106 & Park countdown and also garnered her a promotion with his label. Smartboy Entertainment, where she is now the Vice President of Visual Content and Media.
In 2012 Lewis also worked at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival in Social Media/ PR where she assisted in organizing press events and/or parties for Jackie Chan, "Beasts of the Southern Wild", Director Lee Daniels and more. She also worked as a volunteer for the American Black Film Festival where she assisted publicist Lisa Sorenson with writing daily media alerts and setting up red carpets for the opening film "Beasts of the Southern Wild," and closing film "Raising Izzie," and more.
Through film, she hopes to produce pieces that will create verve in her audience, as well as inspire others to live life out loud creatively and not fear following their dreams. The Avenue is the first film she has ever directed and she's hoping its sensitive message will make its journey across the world.
