Exclusive: Tunisian-Egyptian actress Hend Sabry, star of Oscar-nominated hybrid doc Four Daughters and Netflix hit show Finding Ola, has signed with Cairo-based talent management and promotional agency Mad Celebrity.

The company will manage and promote the star across the Middle East and North Africa, while CAA, which signed Sabry in 2023, continues to represent her internationally as her talent agent.

Sabry first became a household name across the Arab world with the 2010 Egyptian TV classic Ayza Atgawez, in the role of a young pharmacist desperate to get married before she turns 30. She has since rebooted the character for Netflix in the hit show Finding Ola.

The star joins a growing list of internationally recognized talents from the Arab world on the Mad Celebrity books, including megastar Yousra, the Emmy-nominated Menna Shalaby (Nawara), British Lebanese actress Razane Jammal (The Sandman) and the trail-blazing Saudi artist Fatima Al Banawi (Basma).

“The Sandman” Season 2 has been a long time coming. The first season debuted in August 2022, and it wasn’t renewed at Netflix until November of that year. At that time, Netflix was also hesitant to label it as a second season at all, choosing instead to say it was “a continuation of ‘The Sandman’ world,” and wouldn’t commit to an episode count. While we’re not exactly sure what Sturridge’s Morpheus is doing in the scene, we know a) it likely involves ancient magic, and b) whichever character the camera is standing in for might want to duck.

Exclusive: Marvel’s Moon Knight Director Mohamed Diab has revealed fresh details about his new feature Lion, starring Egyptian megastar Mohamed Ramadan in a role inspired by Ancient Rome rebel slave Spartacus.

“It’s a period piece, a kind of Spartacus meets Braveheart set in 1850s Egypt,” said Diab, talking to Deadline on the fringes of Egypt’s El Gouna Film Festival.

Currently mid-way through shooting in Cairo, Lion marks Diab’s first picture back in his native Egypt since 2016 breakthrough Clash. In between times, he made the Palestine-set drama Amira, followed by directing Moon Knight for Marvel.

Diab has revealed very little about the new movie, which was originally announced under the title of Black Lion and is being billed as his most ambitious Arab-language production to date.

“It’s about slavery in the 1850s. It’s an epic film. It’s not based on a real person but inspired by true events.

Season 2 of the The Sandman went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end, and a couple months ago we heard that new cast additions include Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Hustle) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Pleasureland) as The Prodigal. When Netflix ordered season 2, they said, “The Sandman will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless.“

Incoming The Sandman star Douglas Booth gives fans a promising update about the series' upcoming second season.

Speaking to Collider, Booth discussed some minor details regarding his character, the Cluracan, which may have major implications for where the second season of Netflix's The Sandman is headed. "So, I play the Cluracan, and he's a really fun character to play," Booth said. "I had so much fun with him. Ann Skelly was brilliant as Nuala. There's not much I can say because I've never been on a project where they're so secretive, and they make you sign so many things. But what I can tell you is the world-building is brilliant. Acclaimed author Neil Gaiman is facing multiple allegations of sexual assault, making him the subject of a police complaint in New Zealand. Gaiman has offered a response as well, refuting the accusations.

Per Tortoise Media, two women have accused Gaiman of sexual assault while in consensual relationships with the author. The allegations go back two decades, but they were first reported on in Tortoise's podcast Master: the allegations against Neil Gaiman, which was released on Wednesday. The women describe allegations of "rough and degrading sex," alleging that these instances were not always consensual.

Game of Thrones‘ Jack Gleeson will join Netflix’s fantasy series for its sophomore run, TVLine has learned. He’ll play Puck, who is described as “a malevolent hobgoblin who serves as the royal jester to King Auberon of Faerie. Puck is fascinated by mortals and enjoys nothing more than making sport of them for his own amusement. He’s also the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

“The Sandman” is adding several new cast members to its already growing lineup for Season 2, and these actors will be playing characters introduced in fan-favorite storylines from Neil Gaiman’s beloved DC graphic novel series, including Ruairi O’Connor, who has been cast as the son of Tom Sturridge’s Dream.

Netflix shared an image of Tom Sturridge and Mason Alexander Park on set, back in the roles of Dream and Desire, and that can be seen at the bottom of this article. Neil Gaiman also shared a statement, celebrating both the show being able to resume production and the 35th anniversary of the release of the first issue of Sandman.

Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is back in production on Season 2 following the Hollywood strikes, on the 35th anniversary of the original comic series.

Gaiman released a letter Wednesday announcing the production re-start for the Netflix series, along with a behind-the-scenes photo from the set featuring Tom Sturridge (Dream) and Mason Alexander Park (Desire). The Warner Bros. Television production is currently filming in London. You can see the photo below along with Gaiman’s letter.

In his letter, Gaiman recalled when he began writing The Sandman over 36 years ago when a storm trapped him and his family in their village and he penned the outline for the first eight issues of Sandman. Thirteen months later, the first issue of Sandman was released.

The Sandman co-creator Neil Gaiman provides an update on the announced part 2 episodes, confirming that progress is being made behind the scenes. Based on Gaiman's comic book series of the same name, The Sandman was released on Netflix last August, earning mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. The show was also successful in terms of viewership, prompting Netflix to announce in November that a new batch of episodes was on the way.

Now, after several months of radio silence, Gaiman has responded to a fan on Tumblr, providing an update on The Sandman's new episodes. While careful not to reveal too much about what the new episodes have in store for viewers, Gaiman's response suggests that the they are getting closer to going to camera. Three months later, Netflix ordered more of The Sandman… and while this new batch of episodes isn’t officially being referred to as season 2, we’ll call it that because there’s nothing else to call it at this time. And if you’re a fan of The Sandman who’s worried that it’s going to take a while for the new episodes to arrive, we have some promising news to share today, as it doesn’t look like it’s going to be a long wait. Cast member Mason Alexander Park, who plays Desire on the show, has revealed that filming on the next batch of episodes will begin this summer!

This post contains spoilers for the first five volumes of the "Sandman" comics, and will most likely spoil events for the upcoming second season of the show.

It's going to be a while before season 2 of "The Sandman" drops on Netflix, which means we've got plenty of time to speculate on what's going to happen. For fans of the comics, we've already got a pretty good idea: we're definitely going to see the events of "Season of Mists" adapted on-screen, which is bound to be a fun time. Netflix officially states on their website, “No, you’re not dreaming — The Lord of Dreams will return. The Sandman is officially coming back, with new episodes and stories to be adapted. The news was confirmed by Sandman writer Neil Gaiman in a tweet, complete with a brief and evocative teaser featuring Morpheus’ Helm of Dreams and, obviously, plenty of sand.”

Gaiman adds, “The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching Sandman, and the thing we were all hoping would happen… has indeed happened…”

Netflix has renewed The Sandman starring Tom Sturridge as Dream and Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer for a second season. Netflix didn’t confirm the plot or number of season two episodes but did offer this tease of the new season:

“When last we left Dream (Sturridge) and his friends and foes, the forces of hell were on the move, led by Lucifer themself (Christie). The new episodes of the series will dive into that conflict and continue to explore the many challenges facing the universe in the wake of Morpheus’ century-long absence.”

The series is based on the popular DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman and was developed by Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg. All three are involved as writers and executive producers, with Heinberg also guiding the series as showrunner.

The journey of Morpheus, Lord of Dreams, will continue.

According to an announcement from Netflix Tudum, “The Sandman” has been officially renewed, “with new episodes and stories to be adapted.”

The news was confirmed by “Sandman” creator Neil Gaiman via Twitter, who wrote, “The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching ‘Sandman’, and the thing we were all hoping would happen… has indeed happened…”

The streamer has renewed the series based on Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic for a second season. News of the renewal leaked earlier Wednesday via a since-deleted tweet from Sandman publisher DC Comics; the formal announcement came in the evening.

Few non-superhero comics are as beloved as Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman,” so expectations were high when Netflix brought its upcoming TV show based on the series to San Diego Comic-Con. But based on early footage, the adaptation is off to a good start.

The panel featured sneak previews of several important scenes. First, they showed David Thewlis as a foreboding figure that strikes up a conversation with his server at a remote diner. Then viewers got a peek at Tom Sturridge as Morpheus and Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine in a scene where the latter performs a wedding that quickly turns into an exorcism. Finally, fans got a look at an iconic scene from the comics, where Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) sits next to Morpheus and calls him “literally the stupidest, most self-centered, appallingest excuse for an anthropomorphic personification on this or any other planet.”
