Image
If you browse through Netflix's thriller section, you'll notice that Harlan Coben’s adaptations continue to dominate. The streaming platform currently hosts 10 series based on his novels, along with one original show not tied to his published works. In 2025, three out of those 10 series adaptations were released. First was Missing You, followed by Just One Look and then Caught (Atrapados).

But with all three offering their own unique twists, which one truly stands out? Which one will have you hooked from beginning to end and leave you wanting more? In this article, we rank all three from worst to best, so you can find the perfect binge for your next thriller fix.

Missing You episode 5 recap and review: 'Chain Reaction'
Image
Missing You all comes to an end in episode 5, "Chain Reaction." Luckily, Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) gets all the answers to the questions she's been asking for years in the season finale.

Episode 5 begins right where Missing You episode 4 ended, with Kat learning that Josh (Ashley Walters) has been alive this whole time. She finally finds him 11 years after he ran away from their life. He now has a young daughter, Sadie. He tells Kat that Sadie's mother died years earlier.

Then, the pair start rehashing their relationship and why he left. Kat shares her theory that Josh ran after he learned Clint (Lenny Henry) was a dirty cop, and he didn't want to have to lie to her. He agrees, but there's still something missing. He tells her that he's sorry, and they nearly kiss before she pulls away. Josh confesses that he still loves her after all this time.

Missing You episode 4 recap and review: ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’
Image
We're nearing the end of the new Harlan Coben Netflix show, Missing You, and things are getting really good! At the end of Missing You episode 3, Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) learns that her friend, Aqua (Mary Malone), was the person who attacked Brendan (Oscar Kennedy) in the park.

Missing You episode 4 begins shortly after, but first, we get to see a flashback of Josh (Ashley Walters) showing Aqua the ring. He was going to propose to Kat before he left. Then, we’re in the interrogation room with Aqua and Kat. Aqua saw Brendan leaving Kat’s place and she followed him because she wanted to try to protect Josh. Remember, Aqua believes Josh isn’t a bad guy. During the conversation, Aqua has a breakdown after being triggered by a memory of someone banging on a door. We don’t know what that means, but it likely has to do with Josh’s disappearance.

Missing You episode 2 recap and review: 'With or Without You'
Image
Harlan Coben’s new Netflix show, Missing You, gets off to a bit of a slow start in the series premiere, “Every Breath You Take.” Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) finds her ex who has been missing for 11 years on a dating app. When she reaches out, he cuts off contact. Then, she finds out that the man who killed her father, Detective Clint Donovan (Lenny Henry), didn’t actually kill her father. On top of that, her ex, Josh (Ashley Walters), spoke with the killer the day before he walked out of Kat’s life.

I guess it wasn’t a “slow start” at all, actually!

Missing You episode 2, “With or Without You,” opens with a mysterious dog breeder, Titus (Steve Pemberton), revealing that a wife was cheating on a husband during an adoption interview for one of his dogs. After the interview, the man pays a visit to Rishi,...

‘Outlander’ Star David Berry Reveals Lord John Grey’s Season 7 Agenda & Hopes for Spinoff
Image
British Army officer and diplomat Lord John Grey (David Berry) sports an eye patch in the seventh installment of Outlander. It’s not a fashion statement. It’s the result of almost losing his eye after a brutal beating. How he gets that injury, who inflicts it and why are threads that run into the final season. When Berry first heard about the shocking event that sparks the attack on Lord John, he was excited. “This is the kind of challenge that any actor would love,” he says. “It’s dangerous, and you want to do dangerous stuff that pushes audiences and yourself. I relished that opportunity to upset people.” It’s not the first time the Australian- Canadian actor’s character has drawn ire. Berry joined the time-travel romance in 2017 for the third season. Outlander Star Explains Why 1 Spinoff Series About Fan-Favorite Character Was Nixed By The Network
Image
An Outlander star has explained why one spinoff series about a fan-favorite character was nixed by Starz, despite a plan being made for its production. The historical fantasy series features an array of characters, chief among them Claire (Caitrona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan). Their love story directly correlates with the upcoming spinoff Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will tell the story of Jamie's parents in 18th century Scotland and Claire's parents in England during World War I. However, a spinoff for another character, David Berry's Lord John Grey, was also considered, but ultimately never happened.

Speaking with Deadline, Berry addressed how a Lord John Grey spinoff of Outlander was in the works, based on series author Diana Gabaldon's Lord John series. The actor explained how a series had been in development during season 4 of the main show, with a write attached. However, it wasn't picked up...

‘Breeders’ Treats Time in a Way That’s Profound for Parenting — and TV
Image
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Breeders” Season 4, Episode 10, “No Matter What: Part Two,” the series finale.]

Typically, when a parent is caught screaming at their child, it’s not the errant adult who needs comforting. But “Breeders” — the FX series about childcare’s unexpected, even unbearable burdens — knows that good moms and dads can have bad moments. Martin Freeman, Chris Addison, and Simon Blackwell’s dark comedy offers itself, time and again, as a shoulder to cry on for caregivers who’ve given so much, they’re no longer themselves. It does so again during Episode 10, “No Matter What,” wrapping its figurative arms around the infuriated father. Well, fathers.

In the series finale, Luke (Oscar Kennedy) is at his wit’s end. He’s been traveling back and forth between Manchester and London, the former for a coveted music production course at the Manchester Institute and the latter to see his girlfriend, Maya (Deepica Stephen), and their newborn son,...

Martin Freeman Is ‘Quite Happy’ With How ‘Breeders’ Ends
Image
In its fourth and final season, FX’s “Breeders” is ending exactly the way its three creators always wanted: with brutal honesty.

“We did always want it to be honest, that’s for sure,” Martin Freeman told TheWrap in an interview conducted ahead of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. “From me, Simon Blackwell and Chris Addison’s first conversations about this show — when we were making what it would be six or seven years ago — it was basically a collection of all the things that were difficult about being parents.”

Freeman likened those initial conversations to a “comedy therapy session,” adding that he always wanted the show to be “fairly unflinching” and “not too pretty.”

According to the co-creator, executive producer and star, “very, very early on” the plan was to follow the series’ central family from when the kids were very young through college age. “We weren’t exactly...

Ava reveals that she has feelings for her grandad's hairdresser, which leaves the family with many questions.

And it wouldn't be Breeders without some drama from Paul and Ally.

Wreck’s LGBTQ+ Romance Continues 1 Of Horror’s Best Modern Changes
Image
Hulu’s latest horror series, Wreck, has continued one of the genre’s best modern changes with how it portrays its main characters. Horror and LGBTQ+ representation have had something of dicey history over the years, with much of the genre leaning on conscious and subconscious bias against the community. But recent media has started to delve into the potential of horror and queerness without relying on old, prejudiced tropes, refreshing horror as a genre with projects such as They/Them and now, Wreck. The ability to use LGBTQ+ themes positively to enliven the genre is exciting and offers a lot of potential for the future.

Wreck tells the story of Jamie (Oscar Kennedy), a young gay man who sneaks onto the elite cruise ship the Sacramentum to find out what happened to his sister, who mysteriously disappeared while working there. Jamie connects with the cast of characters while they guide him on the ship,...

“Wreck” Series Creator Ryan J. Brown Talks Killer Duck Mascot and Plans for Season Two [Interview]
Image
Created and written by Ryan J. Brown, season one of the cruise ship-set horror-comedy “Wreck” is now streaming exclusively on Hulu.

The inaugural six-episode season, which first premiered last year in the UK on BBC Three, is described as a tense thriller, mixing comedy with a slice of slasher, set aboard The Ms Sacramentum cruise ship. The series follows a 20-year-old new recruit, Jamie (Oscar Kennedy), who infiltrates the 3000-strong crew in a desperate race to find his missing sister. Then the murders force Jamie to wear his detective cap and uncover the shocking truth.

Bloody Disgusting spoke with Brown about finding the line between horror and comedy, why slasher mascot Quacky the duck haunts him, and shifting subgenres beyond season one.

Brown explained where the cruise ship slasher series originated and why it’s so atypical, “So in the UK, the channel it was on, BBC Three, it’s the fun teen channel.

“Wreck” Review – Infectious Horror-Comedy Series from Hulu Isn’t Quite What You Think
Image
A slasher series set aboard a cruise ship, with a plucky duck mascot employed as the face of its killer, sure sounds like a delightful time, doesn’t it? That setup is only the tip of the iceberg in the inaugural six-episode season of “Wreck,” created by Ryan J. Brown and helmed by Chris Baugh (Boys from County Hell). Hidden behind the Quacky the Duck mask is a larger murder-mystery conspiracy, charming characters, and a reverence for the horror genre.

“Wreck” introduces its setting, the Ms Sacramentum, and its inciting mystery with an opening sequence that pays tribute to Halloween H20. Pippa (Jodie Tyack) breaks up with her boyfriend, Danny (Jack Rowan), then gets pursued across the deck by the ship’s mascot, Quacky, who is ominously wielding a knife. The screen fades to black before Pippa’s fate gets revealed. Cut to three months later, 19-year-old Jamie (Oscar Kennedy...

BBC Three’s ‘Wreck’: Second Season Of Horror Comedy In Development As Creator Talks Queer Identity & The Scarcity Of British Slasher Shows
Image
Exclusive: Season two of Euston Films’ BBC Three horror comedy Wreck is in development prior to the first airing, as creator Ryan J. Brown opens up about portraying queer identity and a scarcity of British slasher.

Newly-promoted Euston MD Noemi Spanos and Brown told Deadline they are busy developing the second season and Brown always planned the show to run for at least three. Meanwhile, the horror comedy is one of distributor Fremantle’s flagships being pushed to international buyers at Mipcom later this month. It launches on Sunday October 9.

The cast of Wreck

The genre-bending show, a youth-skewing horror set on a cruise ship that has comic elements, “lends itself well to international sales,” according to Spanos. “The boat itself has a very international cast of characters coming together that should give it a broad reach,” she added, stating that Wreck’s trailer has already attracted widespread attention on social media.

Ladhood’s Liam Williams: ‘Almost as soon as I got to university, I felt my accent changing’
Image
Lad. For many, the word conjures images of toxic masculinity – lad mags, lad culture, LadBible (before it went mainstream). But for a young Liam Williams, living in the small town of Garforth near Leeds, it was simply a term of endearment. “When I grew up, ‘lad’ was quite a Yorkshire…” he pauses, careful not to claim “lad” as entirely his. “It’s not exclusively Yorkshire, but it’s quite a Yorkshire idiom. As we were becoming teenagers and playing with more adult identities and imitating parents or people, older men, I guess, I remember ‘lad’ coming into our vocabulary. It created a nice sense of belonging in the group.” He adopts a Yorkshire accent, presumably reminiscent of one he once had: “’Ow’re you doing lad, ’ey up lad.”

I meet Williams in an old-school pub in London, perhaps an appropriate setting to talk about laddishness, with the final series...

Wrecked: BBC horror comedy series features a knife-wielding duck called Quacky
Image
Last year, we shared the news that Fremantle’s Euston Films is set to produce a six-part horror comedy series called Wrecked for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. Euston’s Noemi Spanos and BBC’s Tommy Bulfin executive produced the show, which has been written by Ryan J. Brown – who said he “wanted to create a piece of genre entertainment that had the savvy teen sharpness of Scream, the unsettling atmosphere of The Shining and the strange upstairs, downstairs mythology of The Cabin in the Woods.” Wrecked is now set to premiere at London’s Fright Fest on August 26th (the show will launch on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer later this autumn), and in anticipation of the premiere a batch of images from the show have arrived online… images that seem to reveal that the killer wears a duck costume and is called Quacky! The images can be seen...
