Starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal, the period drama will be released on Netflix on May 1, 2024. Although the story is based on the lives of tawaifs living at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore in 1940s, Slb is set to take the series to global stage with his unique storytelling.

In a recent interview, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was seen sharing interesting anecdotes about Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. He said, “Because I have always wanted to be lost. This is the biggest set I have made in my life. Because it’s really that walls have been pushed way beyond what I thought.

The makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ on Thursday dropped the character promo of Adhyayan Suman as Nawab Zoravar.

The show transports the viewers to the 1940s, into the lives of the courtesans filled with love, betrayal, power, and the fight for independence.

The character introduction promo shows Adhyayan in a drunk state wearing a golden kurta with courtesans dancing around him.

“Which courtesan will beguile me today? I am a Nawaab… Debauchery is my pastime and birthright. The only thing that matters is Zoravar must always be entertained,” the actor says in the promo.

Talking about his part in the series and his approach to the character, the actor said: “I decided to gain weight for the character of Shashi Bhushan because he is this really arrogant, defiant, spoilt druggie heir of a political family.”

The character demanded that Suman undergo a physical change, including gaining 9 kg weight, in order to depict the persona of a cocaine addict politician authentically.

He further mentioned: “And I wanted him to look really rugged, like someone who was always intoxicated. I decided to keep minimal makeup on my eye bags too. I felt it would add to the character.”
