Geoffrey Austin Newland's journey to becoming an actor is as compelling and raw as his performances. Growing up in a hotel in Hawick, Scotland, he was "alone... surrounded by strangers," a feeling that shaped both his life and his craft. His parents separated when he was just six, leaving Geoffrey to navigate a turbulent childhood with a father who battled bipolar disorder and alcoholism. As an only child, he found refuge in his imagination, often escaping an unstable and sometimes threatening environment.
After 12 years at boarding school, Geoffrey studied law, eventually qualifying as a Barrister. But after traveling the world for over two years, the traumatic yet liberating loss of his father became a pivotal moment in his life. It was then that Geoffrey, having "caught the bug" playing Caliban at age 12, finally committed to pursuing his dream of acting.
Geoffrey graduated from the renowned Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, and since then, his career has flourished. His powerful performances have earned him roles in high-profile films and series, including 28 Years Later (Danny Boyle), The Franchise (Sam Mendes), Kursk (Thomas Vinterberg), Outlander, A Kind of Spark, Spooks, Da Vinci's Demons, Coronation Street, and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Alongside his on-screen and stage achievements, Geoffrey is the creator and host of the globally popular podcast Night Falls, which has cultivated a devoted audience around the world.
What truly sets Geoffrey apart is his ability to bring raw, soul-exposing truth to his roles. His performances are deeply influenced by the resilience and emotional depth forged by his extraordinary life. Now residing in Camden with his wife and three children, Geoffrey continues to embrace each new challenge with the same commitment and passion that defined his journey to acting.
