Robert Kirkman unexpectedly concluded The Walking Dead comics in 2019 after 193 issues. The sudden ending was a mighty shock; Kirkman even took measures to hide the fact that he was finishing the series by sending out mock covers for future issues. Since the comic's ending, The Walking Dead TV show show has also reached its conclusion, but continues to endure through a series of spinoff projects.
As for the future of The Walking Dead comics, things are a little more uncertain. It doesn't help that Kirkman plays tricks on his fans almost as a hobby. Since the ending of the main series, there have been two volumes of Tillie Walden's Clementine graphic novel, a sequel to Telltale's Walking Dead video game, which is canon to the comics. But other than that, Kirkman has not returned to his beloved zombie world.

A trickle is becoming a flood for Bluesky, the social media company that has seen spectacular growth since the presidential election. On Tuesday, the microblogging platform hit 20 million users, after averaging 1 million new users per day over the past five days.
According to a Nov. 13 post by Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, the site had 6 million users in late August, nearly 11 million in late October and hit 15 million users on Nov. 15. It added another 5 million users in just five days, with the explosive growth seen since Nov. 5, the day of the election, accelerating.
Bluesky has been one of the main beneficiaries of millions of users leaving Elon Musk’s X, as the site formerly known as Twitter descends into a mess of bots, extreme content, crypto scams, ads, pornography, racism, transphobia and misinformation.

From 2005 to 2022, Idw Publishing held the "Transformers" comic license. When it was announced they were losing the license, fans felt uncertain; "Transformers" had been in Idw's hands for so long, so why not stay the course?
Change can be a great thing, though, and new "Transformers" publisher Skybound Entertainment is already making the most of the Robots in Disguise. Skybound's foremost publishing initiative is the "Energon Universe" — a setting combining "Transformers," "G.I. Joe," and Kirkman's original science-fiction title "Void Rivals." Call it a blue wave. A host of actors, directors, musicians, journalists and other prominent people are dumping X (formerly Twitter) and flocking to social media platform Bluesky.
In the past week, an increasing number of bold-faced names have announced that they plan to post less on X, or leave the platform altogether, citing myriad issues with the social media company, including far right content, hate speech, transphobia, racism, harassment, pornography, crypto scams, bots and the political views of owner Elon Musk, the billionaire oligarch who is a vocal supporter and financial backer of Donald Trump.
Musk’s ownership of X and his updates to content moderation on the platform have been pushing brands and media groups closer and closer to the exit. AMC has been in the Walking Dead business for years, building a long-running show and multiple spin-offs out of the source material provided in the pages of Robert Kirkman’s comic book series. They’re in the Anne Rice business, building a franchise out of the books, characters, and ideas in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches trilogy. Now, Deadline reports that they’re getting into the Emily Carpenter business, as they’re developing a TV series based on Carpenter’s upcoming novel Gothictown, with Abby Ajayi on board serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
The Gothictown adaptation ended up at AMC through their first-look deal with Stephen Love’s company Made With Love Media, as Made With Love acquired the rights to the book in a competitive situation and will be producing the show.

In the season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, both Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) fled France and ended up in England, where they meet a new survivor played by British comedian Stephen Merchant. But that's not their final destination; the bulk of season 3 is set in sunny Spain. And with the new location comes a new team of crew members working behind the scenes, offering us a new, never before seen angle on the zombie apocalypse.
Daryl Dixon season 3 is currently in the middle of production. The new season will premiere sometime in 2025. We don't know what awaits Daryl and Carol in Spain. The crew have been tight-lipped, as expected. When we asked director Daniel Percival what awaits us in Spain, we were simply told to "wait and see," which is totally a fair and expected response.

About a year and half ago, it was announced that The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will be producing a remake of the 1956 horror film The Mole People (watch it Here) for Universal Pictures… and while we wait for further updates on that project, Deadline has revealed that there’s a different “mole people” project coming our way from Rob Savage, the director of the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman and the screen life horror films Host and Dashcam. This one is called Molepeople and has Anthony Ramos (Twisters) and Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom) attached to star in it.
Described as telling the story of one man’s nightmarish descent into the abandoned tunnels beneath the streets of New York City, where a twisted society lurks, Molepeople brings to mind not only The Mole People but also the 1984 film C.H.U.D., which involved people living in the tunnels beneath NYC, and the 1972 film Death Line (a.

It’s Halloween and the highest-selling comics author of the decade, including the biggest horror title in the business, is going to stay in his Brooklyn apartment and watch some movies.
Oh, sure, there may be some friends over, but James Tynion IV is trying to keep it low-key, with 1980s flicks The Monster Squad, Return of the Living Dead, and Re-Animator on the home marquee. The author is still recovering from New York Comic-Con, where he and his eight-person company, Tiny Onion, which is backed by Lyrical Media, had a major presence. He is the rare comic author that has books across all the major publishers save Marvel, almost all creator-owned. There’s also a Substack newsletter. And a fledgling media division that seeks to catapult those books into various mediums.
Tynion made his name writing Batman for DC, striking out on his own while the proverbial iron was hot.

In 2010, AMC Networks premiered The Walking Dead, an apocalyptic series that aired for 12 years across 11 seasons. Based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, the series became wildly popular, beyond what anyone could have imagined, and has inspired other series within the genre.
The Walking Dead has been praised for its earliest and final seasons, with mixed reviews for its seventh and eighth seasons. While it is set in an undead apocalypse, the stories revolve around the survivors and their experiences after the outbreak occurred. Many viewers note this is why the series became so popular.
Long-standing cast members for the series include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Several of these characters' stories have continued in the long line of spinoffs of the main series. Let's check out some...

The Prime Video satirical superhero series "The Boys" is a lot of things — it's disturbing, hilarious, and tackles comic book culture with a deeply jaded viewpoint. One would think that with such a unique combination of factors, there just couldn't be anything else on TV like it. Thankfully, you'd be very, very wrong. There has been a boom in subversive superhero and comic book fare in the past decade or so, and there are some truly great shows that can tide fans of "The Boys" over until the fifth and final season premieres in the next year or two.
Each of these shows has something in common with "The Boys," from comic book origins to truly twisted humor to extreme violence, and they're all fantastic in their own right. Fans of "The Boys" should find lots to love in each of these 10 brilliant, occasionally demented shows. And it should go without saying,...

The animated superhero series “Invincible” will return for its third season on Amazon Prime Video in early 2025 without taking a mid-season break. The streaming service announced on [Date] that the upcoming season will premiere with three episodes on February 6th and continue with one new episode each week, wrapping up the eight-episode run without an interruption.
This update directly addresses criticism from some fans of the show’s second season. That season was split into two halves of four episodes each, separated by a four-month gap between them. The new continuous release format echoes the successful model of the first season. The announcement teaser poked fun at the scheduling issues by depicting a character telling the show’s protagonist Mark Grayson he took “a four-month vacation right in the middle of things” last season.
Series creator Robert Kirkman has acknowledged that animation production timelines were a significant challenge leading to the split second season.

However, with a blend of humor and honesty, the actor, 51, once revealed his playful envy of Jon Bernthal’s character, Shane Walsh. Lincoln joked about Shane’s boldness in “actually sleep[ing] with my wife”, referring to Lori Grimes, played by Sarah Wayne Callies.

No one knows how to make your mediocre job performance sting like a curmudgeonly co-worker at their wit’s end. They seem to know when you’re at your lowest point, then twist the knife to make you feel worse about not having the spoons to deal with tasks and unfinished projects. In Prime Video‘s Invincible Season 3 teaser trailer, Cecil (Walton Goggins) reads Mark (Steven Yeun) the riot act for botching a clean-up job for a group of criminal scum before reprimanding him for a laundry list of questions about why he’s slacking off. Like I said, no one gives you guff like a pissed-off co-worker.

Everything changes as Mark is forced to face his past, and his future, while discovering how much further he’ll need to go to protect the people he loves.

Update: Pretty soon after news of this leak broke, Amazon Prime video released the teaser for Invincible season 3 in question, and everything was on point: new episodes start airing on Thursday, February 6, and there will be no mid-season break.
Original Article: The first couple seasons of Invincible, Amazon Prime Video's adaptation of Robert Kirkman's superhero comic book series, have been great: earnest and subversive, hyper-violent and densely layered, they've quickly earned a passionate fan following.
The problem has been the wait times. Over two years passed between the end of season 1 and the airing of season 2, and then we only got four episodes of season 2 before the show went on hiatus for another three+ months before we got to see the other four. Kirkman has gone on record as saying that the long waits have "sucked"; since the second and third seasons were made back to back, the hope...

There was a significant gap (over two years) between the first and second seasons of Prime Video's Invincible animated series, but we had been assured that the wait for season 3 wouldn't be as long, and that's now been confirmed thanks to a leaked teaser.
Invincible will return to our screens on February 6, 2025 - and there will be no pesky mid-season break!
We have no idea how long this promo will stay up (and wouldn't be surprised if an official version was released fairly soon), but it finds a now 19-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) meeting with Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins) in a café in a similar set-up to the season 2 teaser with Allen the Alien.
Cecil is not happy (for a change) with Mark taking a lengthy break from crime-fighting, and tells the young hero that he needs more training if he hopes to face the oncoming Viltrumite threat. It's a fun teaser,...

Comic Book creator Rob Liefeld is returning to Youngblood with Image Comics. The plan is to create new Youngblood media and merchandise, kicking off with a brand-new title written and illustrated by Liefeld, set to launch from Image Comics next year.
Liefeld will reteam with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who first launched Image Comics in April 1992.
Rosenberg is CEO of Platinum Studios Inc., which manages Youngblood for the property’s owner, Rip Media Inc.
Youngblood followed Liefeld’s break-out success at Marvel, where he created and established Deadpool, Cable, and X-Force as top-selling characters. Youngblood became the first independent non-Marvel, non-dc Comic title to chart at #1 and sell over 1M copies. The original Youngblood miniseries sold over 25M copies worldwide, and its publication history spans over 100 issues with featured contributions throughout its run from comic talents such as Robert Kirkman Alan Moore, and Mark Millar.
Says Liefeld, “It’s so great that I can run into the comfort of characters that I created, that launched a movement. They carry such history. I love Youngblood so much. These characters are my absolute passion.”
Rosenberg adds, “Rob and I are a fantastic team, and I’m as excited now for Youngblood’s relaunch as I was in 1992 for its initial launch. The team’s awesome characters have not only been in their own Youngblood comics, but also appeared in more than 100 million comic publications worldwide, including crossovers with Marvel and other Image comics. I’m excited to bring them to audiences old and new with their original creator, Rob Liefeld.”
“As our company’s very first comic, Youngblood set the course not just for Image Comics, but for creator-owned comics, so we couldn’t be more thrilled that Rob is returning to his signature creation,” said Image Comics Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Eric Stephenson. “Rob’s vision for these characters and this concept is what originally attracted me to Image Comics way back in the 1990s, so it’s especially exciting that the series that started it all is finally coming home!”
Liefeld and Rosenberg promise more details in the weeks ahead, but initial plans include a Youngblood Vault Edition representing high resolution scans of the original art from the first Youngblood series in a deluxe oversized hardcover, as well as a Facsimile Edition of Youngblood #1 to mark the title’s 33rd anniversary in April 2025, both to be published by Image Comics.
Platinum Studios, Inc. is a comic book-based entertainment company. Productions include the Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig movie Cowboys & Aliens.

Comic book creator Rob Liefeld is plotting a return to the property that helped launch his post-Marvel career more than 30 years ago.
Liefeld will return to write and illustrate a Youngblood title for Image Comics, which will publish the book next year. It marks his first work on the property in seven years, and he is working with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who oversees the property for rights holder, Rip Media Inc.
“It’s so great that I can run into the comfort of characters that I created, that launched a movement. They carry such history. I love Youngblood so much. These characters are my absolute passion,” said Liefeld.
Youngblood came after Liefeld created breakout hits for Marvel, including Deadpool, Cable and X-Force. Then in 1992, he and other top creators departed Marvel to launch Image. Youngblood launched Image Comics, and became the first title outside of Marvel or DC to bow at No.

Funko Fusion has hit the shelves and digital storefronts as a celebration of a mass of different IPs. Developed by 1010 Games, led by two of the original guys behind Traveller’s Tales’ Lego Games, Funko Fusion’s more than what the Lego games aimed to be, aimed at pleasing fans of the franchises old and new alike.
I was lucky enough to discuss the game, the future of the franchise and what we can expect, and much more with Arthur Parsons, game director and driving visionary of Funko Fusion at Gamescom 2024.

It is difficult to imagine Invincible without J.K. Simmons’ Omni-Man. Perhaps one of the breakout performances of the show, Simmons has managed to cement himself as one of modern Hollywood’s greatest tragic characters, right up there with the likes of Darth Vader and Thanos.

It is because of this celebrated performance that it is odd to imagine that the actor turned down the role initially, not finding himself to be fit for the role of the Viltrumite. Speaking with Collider, he revealed what went through his mind when he eventually read the script, talking about how it might not have worked out for him after all.

“If Daryl dies, we riot.”
This was the rallying cry from fans during the early days of “The Walking Dead” on the way to an 11-season run, as Norman Reedus’ character, Daryl Dixon, quickly rose to the forefront of the expansive ensemble and became a favorite.
And it’s not hard to see why.
Dixon was a wholly original creation absent from Robert Kirkman’s comic book source material. Thanks to his characterization as a taciturn badass with a slowly-revealed heart of gold (a sturdy archetype in pop culture if ever there was one) coupled with Reedus’ multi-layered portrayal, fans proclaimed loudly and passionately that, while the “Walking Dead” cast was famously expendable from the start, Daryl was not.
As such, the franchise shifting to smaller, character-centric spinoffs in the aftermath of the flagship’s conclusion in 2022 has been particularly suited to Daryl, allowing his progress to continue while rewarding...

The Last Of Us has established itself as a fantastic zombie drama that is even better than The Walking Dead in many ways! Here's why.
Debuting in 2023, The Last of Us became an instant sensation. Adapted from the acclaimed video game sereis by Naughty Dog, the show takes place in a world where a deadly plague has killed millions around the world and mutated many more into dangerous feral creatures. Survivors are scattered, with society collapsing into different types of rule with several American cities under ruthless military control.
Joel (Pedro Pascal) is a hardened man making a semi-criminal living when he's hired by the Fireflies, a paramilitary group fighting the oppressive military rule over what's left of civilization. Joel is hired to escort Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a young teen who, for some reason, is immune to the plague and might hold the key to a cure. That takes them...

Star Trek's newest era has not been the most universally acclaimed version of the era. The series has seen seven shows and counting announced and or begun filming since 2017. Each show has been received pretty differently from one another. Some shows, like Strange New Worlds and Prodigy, are beloved for their refreshing but familiar takes on the franchise.
Others, like Lower Decks and Short Treks, intrigued fans for their uniqueness and ability to expand the universe. Then there are shows like Picard and Discovery that did more harm than good to the health of the franchise.
That doesn't mean every show is without merit, nor does it mean that the worst shows in the Nu Era of Star Trek don't have some redeeming qualities. Yet, the desire to expand ideas past their original inception and add nuance to a variety of factors didn't sit well with a lot of fans.

Thanks to Prime Video's animated adaptation, Invincible is one of the most popular superhero properties in the world right now. Everyone wants a slice. For instance, Skybound Entertainment is in early development of a triple-a video game, and of course, a live-action movie has long been in the works at Universal.
Announced in 2017, the live-action movie seems no closer to becoming a reality than it was back then. Almost seven years after it was announced, Robert Kirkman has finally weighed in on the project. The good news? It's still very much happening! The bad news? Invincible on the big screen remains many years away. In terms of a timeline, we don't know, but Kirkman recently joked to The Direct that "it may take so long that Timothée Chalamet can play Omni-Man."
Speaking more candidly on the matter, Kirkman explained that the movie isn't being scrapped. The team is just biding...

Remember when "The Walking Dead" was the hot new show on cable? In 2010, the zombie apocalypse series debuted with an engrossing and ambitious supersized premiere. With its gritty, small-scale stories from the end of the world, the Frank Darabont-created series took the world by storm, and continued to hold TV fans in its grip for several high-rated seasons to come. Developed from a long-running comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, the show was always destined for big things, but early fans never could've guessed just how big the franchise would ultimately get.
These days, the "Walking Dead" franchise doesn't always pull in headline-grabbing audience numbers, but it does offer a surprising breadth of stories from within the flagship show's universe. With seven shows and counting (not to mention webisodes), the "Walking Dead" property has multiplied itself faster than walkers in a city struck with Wildfire Virus back in the day.

A live-action adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible was announced four years before the animated series even premiered on Prime Video, and still, there’s been little movement on the movie. Is it even still happening? According to Kirkman, apparently so. They’re just taking their time with it.
“It’s still in development,” Kirkman said at San Diego Comic-Con (via The Direct). “We’re still working with Universal. You know, the show is going so well. I think the movie absolutely has to be perfect. And so it’s taking a lot of time, like getting the pieces aligned and getting everything to work so that we can come out and make it as good as it can possibly be. So it’s been in development for a long time, and it’s probably going to be in development for a while longer.“

Invincible gained a notorious reputation for the delays faced by the animated show’s second season. Based on the Robert Kirkman comic of the same name, the show’s second season premiered almost two years after its debut season. Meanwhile, a live-action film based on the comic, which has been stuck in development is facing similar struggles.

During a recent interview, Kirkman spoke about the delays in getting the live-action film off the ground. The disappointing update certainly does not inspire hope of the movie materializing anytime soon. However, the reasons for the delay in a live-action Invicincble adaptation might just make fans go easy on Marvel’s Blade, which seems to be stuck in developmental hell.

It's the final new comic book week of the month and sometimes companies save the best for last. It appears to be the case with this week’s new releases.
You’ll see more changes in Absolute Power after learning about Amanda Waller’s first outing with Task Force X. Both X-Men comic books on this list are crucial if you’re following From the Ashes or a fan of mutants. There’s also more going on in Skybound/Image Comics Energon Universe during a very emotional issue of Void Rivals.
Normally, this list is only five comics. But this week was too heavy with good issues not to add an extra one. Let’s get right to it with the best comic book of the week.

Similar to The Boys, Amazon’s animated adaptation of the Invincible comic book also became a huge hit for the company. This animated adaptation of a popular comic offers us a whole new perspective on the superhero genre than that we had been used to while – at the same time – parodying conventional American superhero comics.
Even though it is an animated series, it has managed to attract a lot of interest and became one of Amazon’s most popular programs in a variety of ways. It achieved this by attracting a substantial audience and building a devoted and engaged following. For this reason, it is among the most captivating and watched television shows today.
But, while the animated series is pushing forward, many fans are wondering about the state of the live-action adaptation that was announced by The Hollywood Reporter back in 2017. And while no official updates have been given,...

We first learned of plans for a live-action Invincible movie in 2017. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg boarded the project as writers and directors, with Point Grey Pictures and Skybound Entertainment producing and Universal Pictures set to distribute.
All signs pointed to the project being a priority. Unfortunately, it seems to have fallen by the wayside, with the focus shifting to Prime Video's animated Invincible TV series based on Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley's comic book.
There have been a few updates suggesting the movie is still happening, something Kirkman confirmed during an interview with The Direct when he said, "It's still in development."
The prolific comic book writer added, "We're still working with Universal. You know, the show is going so well. I think the movie absolutely has to be perfect. And so it's taking a lot of time, like getting the pieces aligned and getting everything...

While audiences are currently enamored by the Amazon Studios animated Invincible series, many might have forgotten that a live-action film was announced years ago—and it is still in development.
The original announcement was made by The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, a full four years before the animated show aired. At the time, it was revealed that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg would write and direct the film, but not much well was known at the time.
Ever since then, however, word has been minimal on the project’s status—generally only including brief confirmations from Invincible creator Robert Kirkman that the movie is still alive.

On August 16, 2024, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that comic writer Garth Ennis has written a script for a movie adaptation of his comic series "Crossed". Ennis' "Crossed" script has been acquired by the indie production company Six Studios.
These days, Ennis is most known as co-creator of "The Boys" (alongside artist Darick Robertson), the vicious superhero parody that's become one of Prime Video's premier programs. If you think "The Boys" can indulge in ultra violence and bad taste, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Published by Avatar Press, "Crossed" has well over 100 issues to its name, spread out over various mini-series and the long-running "Crossed: Badlands." Alan Moore even wrote the "Crossed +100" installment. What is this horror tale of epic length about? "Crossed" is basically Ennis' take on a zombie apocalypse.
In "Crossed," a pandemic sweeps the world that robs people of empathy and inhibition. The infected turn into raging sadists, their...

Skybound Entertainment (founded by "Invincible" creator Robert Kirkman) has turned into a comic book industry power player thanks to some lucrative licensing deals. Skybound is the current owner of the "Transformers" publishing license, and their ongoing comic is an Eisner Award-winning bestseller. Skybound's franchises don't end at the robots in disguise.
