Thank You For Coming
Starring Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi
Directed by Karan Boolani
In my favourite moment in this amiably anarchic rom-com, the well-behaved utterly devoted fiancé to out uncontrollable tantrum-throwing heroine, after she breaks their engagement , says to her, “Don’t worry about me. I am happy the way I am. It is you I am worried about.”
What does one do with the craziness of Kanika Kapoor?
Amidst all the beery, blaring bacchanalia and shrieks of inebriated joy Thank You For Coming has a sensitive heart beating gently, reminding women that the biological clock need not dictate the way they lead their lives.
Bhumi Pednekar, in a rousing performance, plays Kanika Kapoor the youngest in a family of women where the grandmother (Dolly Ahluwalia) is chilled out but in a restrained way. The mother played with passionate intensity by Natasha Rastogi is the wild one.

There is a visible dearth of chick flicks, and more so, films that celebrate woman and womanhood happen few and far between. ‘Thank You For Coming’ is one such film with a gang of girls who smash the patriarchy and share such a bond that they talk about everything – life, life-partners, individual problems and so much more. For the uninitiated, the pun in the title might be a hint for the audience, especially the extrovert females, about a sense of what they can expect – female friendships, relationships, marriage, dating, sex, orgasms, et al.
Tyfc (Thank You For Coming) opens up about men getting wrong or rather misunderstood thinking women don’t have needs at all. It seldom occurs to them that women too, crave for sexual pleasures.

After India recently had one of its spacecraft reach the moon, Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor says it’s time for the country’s booming film industry to land more box office performers in the West.

Toronto Film Festival gala presentation “Thank You for Coming” is that rarity – a Bollywood sex comedy that also serves as a patriarch-bashing women empowerment tale.
Bhumi Pednekar stars as Kanika Kapoor, a Delhi food blogger and serial monogamist, who has spent her adult life seeking a satisfying love match, both emotionally and physically, but has never had an orgasm. The morning after her engagement to a dull suitor, she wakes up satisfied, but can’t remember who’s responsible.
The film is written by two women, Radhika Anand (“Broken But Beautiful”) and stand up comic Prashasti Singh and directed by a man, Karan Boolani, making his feature directing debut. Boolani previously directed series “24: India” for Viacom18’s Colors channel and Netflix’s “Selection Day.”

This start-to-finish small project action film will be directed by Karan Boolani who is rumoured to be a close friend of Rhea. Even though the film Aisha didn't really ruffle any major feather at the box office, it gave Bollywood two names to watch out for. One is Sonam Kapoor, while the other being Rhea Kapoor. While Sonam has been on a film signing spree, Rhea wants to take each day as it comes. That's why, post Aisha, even though Rhea was offered many rom-coms, sex comedies and even chick flicks, she waited for the right script, that apparently has come in the form of Mainak Dhar's novel 'Herogiri', which revolves around an ordinary man possessing extraordinary powers. Rhea, who has recently bought the rights of the book, said that when she read the book, she was highly entertained and thought it would be exciting to keep the genre of superhero films alive. Reports are rife that Aisha's director Rajshree Ojha and producer Rhea Kapoor are at loggerheads as Rhea, who is known to be dating first assistant Karan Boolani since she worked with him on Wake Up Sid, was pushing her beau for bigger responsibilities. Boolani also shot a song at Rishikesh on Rhea's behest, despite Rajshree's presence on the sets. But Rajshree clears the air, denying any such rift. "I don't know where such news comes from. I am shocked. People should get their facts right. Such stupid stories make things tough for me. I want people ...

Just when you the filmi market is silent from the screams of controversy and rumors, a big one makes an appearance. And this time it is not the older Kapoor daughter making the news but rather the young daughter of Anil Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, incidentally also producer of her sister's upcoming Emma's remake Aisha.
It seems that the director of Aisha, Rajshri Ojha, and Rhea never really saw eye to eye throughout the making of the film. Whilst sister Sonam Kapoor made it rather apparent on sets that she didn't agree with Rajshri's vision, Rhea made life as difficult for the director by constantly outshining her in attempts to give her boyfriend, Karan Boolani, an assistant director of the film, more limelight.
The two sisters made it obvious that Rajshri was the minority voice on the sets despite being the captain of the ship. Whilst Sonam's dislike for Rajshri's approach...
