The latest Star Wars game is out now, and it brings players to the seedier parts of the galaxy as they bargain with the enforcers of Jabba the Hutt, the spies of Crimson Dawn and more. Made by Massive Entertainment and Assassin's Creed developer Ubisoft, Star Wars Outlaws is the first Star Wars game to be released since Electronic Arts' 10-year exclusivity contract expired. There's been a lot of pressure to see how it performs, and so far the reviews have been mixed.

Andy Serkis gained critical acclaim for his role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Serkis made a name for himself in motion capture soon after he did the role of Gollum. While the actor was praised for his incredible performance in the role, he was not admired by all.
Andy Serkis shared that there were many people including some older actors from the industry who mocked him when the first movie in the Lotr trilogy came out.
Andy Serkis as Gollum
The role of Gollum changed the world of CGI and motion capture forever. It led Serkis to more motion capture performances like King Kong and Caesar in The Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy. However, it is sad that the actor initially turned into a joke when Gollum first appeared in 2001’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Andy Serkis is hailed as a legend of motion capture performances. His work behind the mo-cap suit in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Planet of the Apes trilogy are widely appreciated by fans worldwide. However, it can’t be denied that motion-capture performances have still not received the critical acclaim they deserve.

When the King Kong actor was asked his thoughts on motion-capture acting having a separate Oscars category, he strongly refused it. Serkis thinks that motion-capture acting is not different from normal acting and can also be acknowledged in the present Oscar categories.
Why is Andy Serkis against motion-capture acting getting a new Oscar category?

There may have been several renditions of the Planet of the Apes franchise but it is Andy Serkis’ phenomenal performance in the 2011 reboot that solidifies him as the inimitable legend who can never be surpassed as far as the role of Caesar is concerned. In simple terms, Andy Serkis is to Caesar what Heath Ledger was to the Joker and in his core, the motion-capture actor has mastered the ape in a way that no other actor can or ever will be able to mimic.

Although released in the USA on August 14, the sci-fi drama District 9 is only on its second weekend here in the UK.
Having been away on two holidays in the past few weeks, I missed the press screening and have just had chance to see this film, hence this slightly belated review.
But I'm determined to write about it here on The Geek Files because I want to recommend this as a must-see piece of cinema and one of the best films this year.
Drama, suspense, humour, action, intelligence, social observation, sci-fi, relatable themes, and layers of meaning that point a knowing, accusing finger at the inhumanity of man. It's all in there.
Produced by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) and co-written and directed by Neill Blomkamp in his feature film debut, District 9 might seem at first glance like a rather overt apartheid allegory or derivative of Alien Nation,...

District 9 Studio: Sony Pictures Rated: R for bloody violence and pervasive language. Starring: Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope, David James, Mandla Gaduka and William Allen Young Directed by: Neill Blomkamp What it’s about: After an alien craft comes to earth 28 years ago, the creatures on board are restricted to a refugee camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. Now, the South African government is evacuating the alien prawns to a new location. When a bureaucrat leads an evacuation force into District 9, he stumbles into a secret among the aliens that puts him on their side of the conflict. What I liked: District 9 embodies the essence of speculative fiction, which allows storytellers to present concepts and ideas to an audience, using a fantastic element that reveals something insightful about ourselves. This film holds a mirror up to its audience and dares us to look into it and decide if the reflection is accurate. District 9...

Chicago – Neill Blomkamp’s “District 9” is easily one of the most daring, inventive, and original films of the year, a thrill ride through a talented new filmmaker’s unique vision of an alternate universe where the aliens haven’t just landed, they’ve been here for years. Blomkamp and star Sharlto Copley recently sat down with HollywoodChicago.com to discuss their backgrounds, process, and even the potential for a sequel.
Blomkamp was originally tapped by Peter Jackson (“Lord of the Rings”) to work on the adaptation of one of the biggest video games of all time, “Halo”. When that project fell apart, Jackson and his partners, Fran Walsh & Phillipa Boyens, saw the potential in Blomkamp and gave him the freedom to do whatever he wanted instead.

A new sci-fi thriller movie entitled "District 9", is set to hit the theaters this weekend. Distributed by TriStar Pictures (Sony), it stars : Sharlto Copley, and David James The movie trailer (below) looks pretty interesting. The movie is about aliens who arrived to Earth about 28 years ago,and humans were waiting for them to attack or to get huge advances in technology. Neither of those things happened because the aliens were refugees, and the last survivors of their home world. As the world argued over what to do with them, they were put in a makeshift home over in South Africa called "District 9." Eventually control over the aliens was contracted out to a private company who were uninterested in the alien's well being.

The only thing we’ve seen of the Peter Jackson-produced “District 9″ so far has been trying to sell us the viral side of the movie. It’s all very clever and cute, but it’s about time we saw some real plot from this movie, and this latest trailer does just that. I just hope that when all is said and done, this isn’t another movie about Government conspiracies and cover-ups, with the aliens ended up being exploited by the big bad humans and are just fighting back, etc. Man, that would be so predictable… An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology. Three new images from Neill Blomkamp’s South African sci-fi drama “District 9″, which is quite the intriguing movie. As to the execution, well, that remains to be seen. But from everything I’ve seen of it, it sure looks like it has the potential to be good, or at the very least, something very different in sci-fi fiction. Being that it’s been a while since we’ve gotten something different, I think we should definitely give the film a shot.
