“These strikes have taken a terrible toll on our amazing crews, and it isn’t over yet. Even with the WGA strike ending, most crew members won’t be able to start work again until the SAG-AFTRA deal is ratified,” Leeds said in a statement. “Even then, many will be fighting to survive as they wait for productions to start back up.

Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Bell, Kristen Wiig, and Will Forte are among the performers scheduled to take part in One Night Only, a Groundlings musical improv show to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund.

The show, set for Thursday, October 26 in Los Angeles, will be a “fully-realized production of a well-known Broadway musical,” the catch being that the performers won’t know what show or their roles until 24 hours before curtain. “The audience finds out what the show is when the curtain rises on the most terrified group of actors you will ever see,” the improv company says.

It takes everything from the Spanish film, except for the great campaign that was made to judge a film not by its cinematic content but by its more social side.

In Champions, Marcus is a recently fired minor league basketball assistant coach who, following his humiliating firing, gets into a car accident while under the influence. Marcus is sentenced to community service, coaching a team ofadults basketball players with intellectual disabilities at the local community center. While coaching The Friends, Marcus becomes a better coach, willing to listen and connect with his players.

The Friends, on an unexpected winning streak with Marcus, could go further than ever before straight to the Special Olympics championships. Champions is directed by Bobby Farrelly and written by Mark Rizzo. Champions stars Woody Harrelson, Katlin Olson, Ernie Hudson, Cheech Marin, and Matt Cook.

Over time, coaching The Friends forces Marcus to become a more understanding coach who connects with his players, leading the team to an unexpected victory streak. Marcus and The Friends soon discover that they are on track to go further than anyone ever expected, straight to the Special Olympics. The latest installment in the beloved horror franchise opens Friday in approximately 3,675 domestic locations. Previews took place Thursday evening at 3,125 theaters starting at 5:30 p.m. The Paramount and Spyglass Media Group film is expected to earn $35 to $40 million this weekend, possibly besting “Scream V,” which opened to $30 million. For a comparison, that film grossed $3.5 million at the Thursday box office in January 2022. It went on to make $81.6 million in the U.S. and $137.7 million worldwide against a $25 million budget.

Bolstered by a starry cast and stellar early reviews (79% from critics and 93% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes), “Scream VI” is aiming to beat the franchise box office record, currently held by “Scream 3” with $34.7 million ($60.3 million in today’s currency).

Billed as a “modern folktale,” the film explores a young man’s fractured identity after his mother’s mysterious disappearance. Guided by a father figure and old friends who care deeply, his journey through the dreamlike spaces of rural England brings him face to face with the loss that haunts him in ways he could never have expected.

Inland is the first feature from writer-director Fridtjof Ryder. The film had its World Premiere at the 66th BFI London Film Festival, where it featured in the festival’s Official Selection category. The film has also been longlisted for 5 awards at this year’s British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).

Rylance is also an Executive Producer on the project and he stars alongside Rory Alexander, Kathryn Hunter, Eleanor Holliday, Alexander Lincoln, Nell Williams, and Shaun Dingwall.

ABC News Studios unveiled a slate of narrative non-fiction projects as part of its official launch, with three feature documentaries and 15 series and specials in production.

Plans are to produce more than 100 hours of programming for ABC, Hulu, Disney+, National Geographic and other platforms in 2022. Dawn Porter; Irene Taylor, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard; and Stanley Nelson are among those attached to projects.

Reena Mehta is senior vice president of streaming and digital content, and Mike Kelley, the vice president and ABC News Studios lead, will oversee the creative and business direction of the unit.

David Sloan will serve as senior executive producer and creative lead of ABC News Studios, while Jacqueline Glover is head of documentary for Onyx Collective and oversaw the initial slate of feature documentary films for ABC News Films.

Exclusive: London- and Australia-based film and technology company Fablemaze has partnered with UK science fiction film festival Sci-Fi-London to host the 2022 Short Film Program on its new video hosting and annotation platform. The program has been extended to June 4.

Developed in-house at Fablemaze, the platform is designed to bridge the gap between premium content streaming services and online video platforms while also bringing a facility for filmmakers to add extras that commonly have appeared on DVDs.
