- Producer
Born and raised in LA, Laurence attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for film production. After college, Laurence directed the short film 'Life in Text', a relationship drama starring Alexandra Daddario (HBO's "The White Lotus") and Tyler Ritter ("Homecoming"). It was featured on Bustle and Slash Film, and premiered at LACMA's Art+Film Lab. He then wrote the biopic 'Nichols & May' which follows legendary improv duo Mike Nichols and Elaine May during their magical relationship in 1950s Chicago/NY. The screenplay was a quarterfinalist in ScreenCraft's True Story Competition.
Later on, Laurence began directing and producing a wide array of music videos and short documentaries. He helmed projects featuring Grammy-winner Iggy Pop, Common, indie virtuoso Andrew Bird, Valerie June, and Robert Glasper, as well as legends like Steve Martin, R.E.M., and Elvis Costello.
Major indie Concord selected Laurence to direct the first-ever music video for Creedence Clearwater Revival's iconic song "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." Set in Montana, starring Sasha Frolova, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty ("The Boys"), the video has 454+ million views to date. He then directed 'Connie & Sly', a female-driven dance film, and created a monologue series inspired by Raymond Carver.
Laurence is directing a 10-year documentary which follows the lives of actors, writers, and comedians as they make it in LA. He's also writing his next original screenplay, a multi-vignette drama in the vein of 'Magnolia'. His next short, 'Don't Be Shy', based on a true story, stars Ali Fumiko Whitney (Netflix's 'Find Me Falling'), Sydney Taylor (upcoming: Nick Cassavetes' 'Marked Men'), and Zak Takowsky.
