Multiple Emmy-winner John Wells, one of TV’s most prolific producer/writer/directors, has a new series The Pitt, which stars Noah Wyle (ER), as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. The Max series tells the tale of medical personnel working in real-time emergency department shifts in fictional Pittsburgh (hence the show’s title) Trauma Medical Hospital. Wells is no stranger to medical dramas, having executive produced the hugely successful, long-running series ER as well as China Beach and Third Watch. One of his longest-running series was the American adaptation of the British series Shameless, which ran for a decade starting in 2011. Shameless told the story of the Gallagher clan, headed by patriarch Frank Gallagher (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee William H. Macy). His children were Fiona (Emmy Rossum), Phillip a.k.a “Lip” (Jeremy Allen White), Ian (Cameron Monaghan), Debbie (Emma Kenney), Carl (Ethan Cutkosky), and Liam (Christian Isaiah; Brenden Sims...

The end is in sight for The Conners.
ABC has set a March 26 premiere date for the comedy’s seventh and final season. The Conners is ending with an abbreviated, six-episode run; ABC announced the final season in May 2024.
The show will take up its usual 8 p.m. Wednesday time period for the final episodes. That spot’s current occupant, Shifting Gears, is scheduled to conclude its first season on March 19.
Season seven will bring the series to a total of 112 episodes, an increasingly rare accomplishment for a network comedy series. Only one other current live-action broadcast comedy — CBS’ The Neighborhood — has more than 100 episodes to its name. (Fox’s animated stalwarts The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers are also long past that mark.)
The Conners — a spinoff of ABC’s 2018 Roseanne revival that was canceled after one season following racist remarks by star Roseanne Barr — has been a solid performer throughout its run.

Although The Conners season 7 has very little screen time to wrap up the Roseanne franchise’s storylines, that doesn’t mean that the sitcom can avoid a couple of major canon plots. The Conners’ cast of characters is large, meaning most episodes of the family sitcom don’t include every supporting star. If an episode of The Conners centers on an argument between Dan and Jackie and a B-story involving Mark struggling with his mother Darlene and his stepfather Ben, this means it is tricky for the show to give Becky, Harris, Neville, Beverly-Rose, and Louise screen time as well.
This will be a much bigger problem for The Conners season 7. The final outing of the Roseanne franchise, The Conners season 7 will be a “Six-episode farewell event” according to TVLine. This means the show will have only three hours of screen time to wrap up the character arcs of The Conners’ main cast,...

The Conners‘ final season is approaching and with it the end of a TV era after the series carried on the legacy of ABC‘s former hit Roseanne. And as we near the farewell, TV Insider caught up with series star Emma Kenney who plays Harris Conner-Healy, daughter to Sara Gilbert‘s Darlene, who stepped up as the family leader of sorts following Roseanne’s (Roseanne Barr) death. As previously revealed, ABC will debut the shortened final season sometime in March, and until then, Kenney is offering some insight for die-hard fans. “Our series finale season is just six episodes,” she clarifies, noting, “We are used to having a lot more wiggle room and maybe a few one-off episodes.” Still, the onscreen family will be making the most of their time as Kenney adds, “This [season], every episode is very intentional and each character has their moment.” In other words, everyone...

Emma Kenney, star of The Conners, discusses the emotional process of wrapping up the series’ seventh and final season. The Conners, which debuted in 2018, serves as a continuation of the iconic Roseanne series, focusing on the Conner family’s struggles and triumphs in Lanford, Illinois. Kenney portrayed Harris Conner-Healy alongside John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris-Goldufski, and Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner-Olinsky. The Conners season 7 will close out a storyline that originated with the Roseanne premiere in October 1988.
During an interview with TVLine, Kenney explained how emotional the atmosphere on set was during the final days of filming, particularly for crew members who had worked on both Roseanne and The Conners. Her remarks suggest the finale will pay homage to the franchise's longstanding history while also providing closure for its characters. Emma Kenney previews her arrival on Happy's Place, where she will play Gracie, the daughter of Reba McEntire’s Bobbie. Gracie, a military member returning home on leave, is set to shake up the already tenuous balance of relationships within the titular bar and family.

While The Conners season 7 can wrap up a lot of lingering Roseanne plot holes, there is one storyline that is unlikely to make sense by the end of the series. The Conners’ large cast of characters makes the show’s upcoming final season a challenging prospect. For The Conners season 7 to succeed, the family sitcom will need to give satisfying endings to the character arcs of Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky, DJ, Beverly, Harris, Mark, and Beverly-Rose. That rundown doesn’t even include characters who aren’t members of the titular family, like their equally important love interests.

After The Conners failed to give Darlene’s daughter a meaningful purpose, Happy’s Place makes this mistake worse with Emma Kenney’s upcoming guest role in the sitcom. The Conners season 7 will arrive in March 2025, and the six-episode “Farewell event” will bring the Roseanne franchise to an end after 36 years. The large cast of The Conners means it will be tough for the series to give everyone a perfect ending, but some supporting characters need a significant role more than others. Chief among them is Emma Kenney’s Harris, first seen in the final seasons of Roseanne’s original run.

For most viewers, the surest sign that a show's going downhill is when the main character is suddenly written off. Nobody thinks the golden era of "The Office" includes those two seasons where Michael Scott was off in Colorado, just as nobody's favorite season of "That '70s Show" is the one where Eric's off in Africa while Seth Meyers' brother swoops in to date Donna in his place. Even when a show manages to replace its lead in a surprisingly effective, fan-pleasing away — see "Community" season 5 — there's still that pervasive feeling that the show's on borrowed time and its writers are delaying the inevitable by trying to keep the party going.

Although Roseanne’s spinoff The Conners never mentioned Martin Mull’s Leon Carp, the original show’s season 8 Christmas episode featured a historical piece of gay representation centered on the supporting character. One of the harsh realities of rewatching Roseanne is the realization that some of the show’s jokes have aged terribly. However, for every gag that feels tasteless or problematic in 2024, there are moments that stand out as strikingly progressive. Roseanne’s story of a working-class middle-American family tackled poverty, gay rights, racial discrimination, parental abuse, and a whole host of other hot-button issues with surprising tact and dexterity.

Was Sabrina Carpenter rejected from The Conners? (Photo Credit – Instagram/Facebook)

Roseanne Barr claims that getting kicked off of Roseanne was the worst thing that ever happened to her. For Sabrina Carpenter, getting cast on it could have been even worse.
Even without Barr, the revival of the beloved 1990s sitcom Roseanne has been a huge success for ABC since The Conners first premiered in 2018. After Barr’s dismissal following her racist tweets directed at Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett, the reworked sitcom sans title character was the #1 new comedy for the 2018 season, and, though The Conners suffered the same gradual drop-off that most sitcoms see in later seasons, ABC is reportedly eyeing 2025 for the release of the seventh and final season of the now-John-Goodman-led comedy.
This means that, in some alternative universe, Sabrina Carpenter is currently getting ready to send off her Conners character Harris Conner-Healy with grace, and Emma Kenney released the song of the 2024 summer with “Espresso.”

Sabrina Carpenter might have said “Please Please Please” to The Conners’ casting agents, but former showrunner Whitney Cummings is glad the pop star didn’t get a part on the Roseanne spinoff. Cummings revealed the casting near-miss with People last week at Elle’s Women in Hollywood Celebration in Beverly Hills, California. While reflecting on getting comfortable with rejection in Hollywood — which she deemed one of the biggest lessons she has learned about showbiz — Cummings shared that Carpenter auditioned on the day they were casting the part of Harris Conner-Healy on the Roseanne revival. Emma Kenney was eventually cast in that role, and the revival aired one season as Roseanne before being rebooted as The Conners without Roseanne Barr. “Sabrina Carpenter auditioned … and it wasn’t the right fit,” Cummings said. “She got a rejection that day when we were casting the daughter.” Justin Stephens/Disney But Cummings is glad...

While most people know that actors like Emmy Rossum and Jeremy Allen White starred in Shameless, many don't know that Disney Channel icon Dove Cameron was also on the show. Running for 11 seasons, the black comedy series centered on the Gallaghers, a working-class dysfunctional family led by alcoholic patriarch Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy). With six Gallagher siblings, Shameless saw a revolving door of guest stars playing various figures in the kids' lives, from friends to lovers to co-workers.
While Shameless was her very first acting gig, singer and actor Dove Cameron got her claim to fame from the Disney Channel series Liv and Maddie. Her musical talent earned her the lead as Mal, daughter of Maleficent, in Disneys Descendents, a musical film franchise centering on the children of famous Disney villains. The Conners' Highest-Rated Episode Is A Harsh Reality Check For Something Season 7 Probably Won't Do
While The Conners season 7 might wrap up the Roseanne franchises story well, there is no getting around a harsh reality highlighted by the spinoffs highest-rated episode. The Conners season 7 will bring the sitcom spinoff to an end, wrapping up the titular familys story decades after Roseanne originally debuted in 1988. The Conners large cast of characters all deserve a fitting ending after all that the beleaguered family has been through over the years, but the sitcom will only have seven episodes to tie up everyones character arcs before the Lanford familys saga is finished for good.

This shorter final season brings with it some unfortunate limitations. The Conners actor Emma Kenney finished filming as early as October 2024, sparking speculation about her role in the final season.

The news that one star of Roseannes spinoff The Conners season 7 has already finished filming proves that their characters role may be diminished in the shows final outing. The Conners has a large cast of characters , so it is no surprise when some of them are absent for a few episodes at a time. Roseannes spinoff has three generations of the eponymous clan to keep up with, not to mention their spouses. As such, it was not a shock when Darlenes son Mark didnt appear in the first three episodes of The Conners season 6.

Ahead of its premiere, an original The Conners actor has wrapped up filming for the Roseanne spinoff sequel. Born out of the unexpected death of Roseanne following Roseanne Barr's firing, the ABC family comedy has been a steady ratings winner for the network in the last six years. Shameless is a TV-ma show with mature content like nudity, violence, sex, and substance use. The young characters face adult situations, so the show is not suitable for viewers under 15. For family-centered comedy options for younger viewers, try Modern Family, Black-ish, or Good Luck Charlie.
