After more than 100 episodes on ABC, “The Conners” are bidding farewell with their final six episodes. The seventh season will kick off on March 26 at 8 p.m. Et.

“For over three decades, audiences have followed along with the Conners as they navigate the daily struggles of life in Lanford,” ABC said in a statement. “Dan, Jackie, Darlene and Becky grapple with parenthood, marriage, financial pressures and aging in working-class America. Through it all—the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns—with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”

The series, which is a continuation of the sitcom “Roseanne,” stars John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy, Emma Kenney as Harris Conner-Healy, Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy and Jay R. The end is in sight for The Conners.

ABC has set a March 26 premiere date for the comedy’s seventh and final season. The Conners is ending with an abbreviated, six-episode run; ABC announced the final season in May 2024.

The show will take up its usual 8 p.m. Wednesday time period for the final episodes. That spot’s current occupant, Shifting Gears, is scheduled to conclude its first season on March 19.

Season seven will bring the series to a total of 112 episodes, an increasingly rare accomplishment for a network comedy series. Only one other current live-action broadcast comedy — CBS’ The Neighborhood — has more than 100 episodes to its name. (Fox’s animated stalwarts The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers are also long past that mark.)

The Conners — a spinoff of ABC’s 2018 Roseanne revival that was canceled after one season following racist remarks by star Roseanne Barr — has been a solid performer throughout its run.

Although The Conners season 7 has very little screen time to wrap up the Roseanne franchise’s storylines, that doesn’t mean that the sitcom can avoid a couple of major canon plots. The Conners’ cast of characters is large, meaning most episodes of the family sitcom don’t include every supporting star. If an episode of The Conners centers on an argument between Dan and Jackie and a B-story involving Mark struggling with his mother Darlene and his stepfather Ben, this means it is tricky for the show to give Becky, Harris, Neville, Beverly-Rose, and Louise screen time as well.

Emma Kenney guest stars as Bobbie's no-nonsense daughter, Gracie, who visits Knoxville during military leave. "The Macallister Girls" sees Isabella go over the top in an attempt to bond with her niece, but Gracie appears disinterested in forming a friendship. While they don't get off on the best foot, the women eventually realize they have more in common than they initially thought.

Their conversation leads to a much-needed talk between Bobbie and Gracie, in which the latter admits she enlisted in the military to escape her mom. However, Kenney believes that the mother-daughter relationship will only strengthen from their honesty, with Gracie promising she will return to Knoxville. The episode ends when Gracie asks Isabella to join their family photo, showcasing the bond that's formed between them.

Even without Barr, the revival of the beloved 1990s sitcom Roseanne has been a huge success for ABC since The Conners first premiered in 2018. After Barr’s dismissal following her racist tweets directed at Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett, the reworked sitcom sans title character was the #1 new comedy for the 2018 season, and, though The Conners suffered the same gradual drop-off that most sitcoms see in later seasons, ABC is reportedly eyeing 2025 for the release of the seventh and final season of the now-John-Goodman-led comedy.

This means that, in some alternative universe, Sabrina Carpenter is currently getting ready to send off her Conners character Harris Conner-Healy with grace, and Emma Kenney released the song of the 2024 summer with “Espresso.”

While The Conners season 7 might wrap up the Roseanne franchises story well, there is no getting around a harsh reality highlighted by the spinoffs highest-rated episode. The Conners season 7 will bring the sitcom spinoff to an end, wrapping up the titular familys story decades after Roseanne originally debuted in 1988. The Conners large cast of characters all deserve a fitting ending after all that the beleaguered family has been through over the years, but the sitcom will only have seven episodes to tie up everyones character arcs before the Lanford familys saga is finished for good.

First airing on ABC in 2018, the Roseanne spinoff series follows the members of the titular family as they navigate life after the death of Roseanne Barr's matriarch character.
