Bloody Disgusting has been provided with a first look snippet from the upcoming indie genre movie Spirit Riser this afternoon, giving us a taste of a completely unrecognizable Whitney Moore as the film’s “Man from the Dark and Lonely Place.”

Directed by Dylan Mars Greenberg, Spirit Riser is said to be a “genre-bending fantasy with elements of horror, comedy, action, surrealism, and martial arts.”

Spirit Riser features a cast that also includes Lynn Lowry, Amanda Flowers, and Kansas Bowling. And the film is narrated by Michael Madsen (The Hateful Eight).

Max Landis, the screenwriter known for Bright and Chronicle, is coming under fire for his alleged mistreatment of women – again. The latest allegations, as detailed today in the Daily Beast, include charges that he sexually assaulted and mentally tortured several girlfriends, at least one of whom he allegedly threatened to kill. The Lapd, however, says that it has not received any complaints about him, and his reps did not return phone calls.

The latest of eight women to come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Landis is actress Ani Baker, an ex-girlfriend who posted on social media that “this person is really destructive,” while telling the Daily Beast that she has heard from other women “that I had never heard of who are like, ‘I too was tortured by this person.’”

After writer Benjamin Percy did a fine job of capping Green Arrow‘s first year in the Rebirth era with issue #25, which also served as a great jumping on point, it seems like he’s more than ready to plunge into the next major story arc.

Not long ago, we were granted our first look inside the opening chapters of “Hard Traveling Hero,” which is set to take the Emerald Archer beyond the borders of Star City (formerly Seattle). So, if that title rings a bell, it should, because it’s paying homage to Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams’ legendary run on Green Lantern/Green Arrow, something Percy didn’t shy away from admitting right off the bat in a recent interview conducted by DC All Access’ Whitney Moore.

From the get-go, Titans hasn’t been shy when it comes to exploring the bigger mysteries surrounding the young Rebirth era. Having already detailed the reason for the pre-Flashpoint Wally West being in current continuity proved this title wasn’t messing around and, according to series writer Dan Abnett, he’s not slowing down any time soon.

I’m secure in saying that I’m probably not the only one who thinks the wait between DC animated movies feels like an eternity, even if they’re only mere months apart. With but a few weeks to go until the release of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, the folks at DC All Access have thankfully tided us over with a new clip and other goodies.

Although said footage treads very far from spoiler territory, it’s pretty cool to see some fresh content nonetheless, especially when you factor in that it involves Starfire. Up until Justice League vs. Teen Titans, she was a character that was really only hinted at in other related films, so it’s nice to see a version of her that’s more mature than what you’d find on a series airing on Cartoon Network be explored.

You have to respect an artist with a vision. Sometimes they make Dances With Wolves or The Passion of the Christ and are rewarded critically and commercially for their risky works of passion. Other times you get James Nguyen’s notorious 2008 film Birdemic. The film is an homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds and Al Gore’s Oscar winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Shot largely on weekends and funded completely by Nguyen’s day job as a software salesman in Silicon Valley, the film is actually quite magical for bad movie fans due to the tonal shift midway through. It’s kind of like two awesomely bad movies for the price of one!

A little bird dropped by our mailbox to let us know that the sequel to Birdemic: Shock and Terror (review here), entitled Birdemic II: The Resurrection, will begin hitting theatres in June with screenings being held everywhere from Los Angeles to Paris, France.
