Bloody Disgusting has been provided with a first look snippet from the upcoming indie genre movie Spirit Riser this afternoon, giving us a taste of a completely unrecognizable Whitney Moore as the film’s “Man from the Dark and Lonely Place.”
Directed by Dylan Mars Greenberg, Spirit Riser is said to be a “genre-bending fantasy with elements of horror, comedy, action, surrealism, and martial arts.”
Check out the exclusive first look clip below.
Spirit Riser features a cast that also includes Lynn Lowry, Amanda Flowers, and Kansas Bowling. And the film is narrated by Michael Madsen (The Hateful Eight).
The press release previews, “Under the skilled hands of makeup experts Edwin Monzon and Cici Andersen, Moore underwent a radical transformation using prosthetics that turned her into the terrifying, gaunt-faced male character central to the film’s enigmatic narrative.”

This weekend Screambox celebrates Earth Day with James Nguyen‘s authentically so-bad-it’s-good Birdemic: Shock and Terror, which is easily one of the best-worst movies ever made, as well as its sequels Birdemic 2 and the festival favorite Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle, which blew the roof off last year’s Fantastic Fest.
The first Birdemic was acquired out of a hilariously legendary screening in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival by Severin Films. It’s so raw, authentic, and comically terrible that it’s infinitely rewatchable. It also boasts the acting debut of Bloody Disgusting family member Whitney Moore, who has appeared in several horror films over the years and has become a well-known host in the metal and movie community.
All three films are now streaming on our Screambox platform!

After premiering last year at Fantastic Fest, Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle, the third film in James Nguyen‘s authentic so-bad-it’s-good franchise, arrives on VOD platforms tomorrow!
In the latest from Severin Films, the birds are back, and global warming has them roiled!
“When global warming triggers climate chaos along the Northern California coast, two scientific researchers will discover tender romance, awkward dancing, overly earnest moralizing, appalling CGI, automatic weapons, and a plague of attacks by sea eagles that could lead to the extinction of life on earth. Or as one character wisely proclaims in this conclusion of Nguyen’s immortal cinematic vision, ‘We have to accept our fate. It is death.'”

Fantastic Fest is back for its seventeenth edition featuring killer teddy bears, man-eating sharks, elderly zombies, cocktail-serving robots, and Park Chan-wook… all under one roof.
The festival will once again take over the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, TX from September 22nd – 29th and one film taking flight will be Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle, the third film in James Nguyen‘s authentic so-bad-it’s-good franchise that will celebrate its World Premiere.

Interestingly, the press release teases that this is the “director’s cut” of his thrilling, romantic, and worthy sequel. James Nguyen will be in attendance.

It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, people tend to take notice. Friday the 13th has once again graced us with its presence, and for some, it’s a very superstitious holiday. This year will be a pretty wild occasion, too, especially for horror fans, as Syfy has decided to air a 24-hour marathon of the Friday the 13th films to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original movie’s release.
Starting at the stroke of midnight and continuing on for the entirety of the day, the network will unleash Crystal Lake’s most notorious killer on audiences with back to back presentations of the films. The Friday the 13th marathon will feature eight of the franchise’s movies, including the original Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part III, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning,...

Young Justice has two overlapping, somewhat rabid, fan followings. First, there are those who delighted in Peter David’s energetic take on the young adult team, which led to the animated series on Cartoon Network.
In the hands of former DC assistant editor Greg Weisman, Young Justice developed a very unique voice of its own, carving an animated continuity all to itself, enjoying two seasons on cable before vanishing. Weisman, Brandon Vietti, and their team were rehired by DC Universe to produce a 26-episode third season, dubbed Young Justice: Outsiders, which aired in two sections throughout 2019.
The entire season is now a four-disc Blu-ray set from Warner Archive so if you don’t want to spend for the service, you can see what you’ve missed. We pick up some two years after season two and Meta-human trafficking is rampant, with the people turned into WMDs. Meanwhile, the Un in...

It’s a relatively contained secret that beneath the magic and the pixie dust, Disney has produced a whole lot of freaky stuff. And now that the House of Mouse has officially launched its expansive streaming site, Disney Plus, a large collection of that spooky material is available to cower over wherever and whenever you want!
Of course, this isn’t to say that there are blood fests on there – the company couldn’t even summon up the courage to include the R-rated Deadpool and Logan films – but rather point out that some of the studio’s most iconic features incorporate incredibly frightening scenes.
While the Mouse House has evidently filtered some of its more controversial content for Disney Plus – though they seem to have completely missed Dumbo‘s iconically problematic crows – Bloody Disgusting was still able to conjure up a video of some of the freakiest stuff to explore on the streaming service.

Max Landis, the screenwriter known for Bright and Chronicle, is coming under fire for his alleged mistreatment of women – again. The latest allegations, as detailed today in the Daily Beast, include charges that he sexually assaulted and mentally tortured several girlfriends, at least one of whom he allegedly threatened to kill. The Lapd, however, says that it has not received any complaints about him, and his reps did not return phone calls.
The latest of eight women to come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Landis is actress Ani Baker, an ex-girlfriend who posted on social media that “this person is really destructive,” while telling the Daily Beast that she has heard from other women “that I had never heard of who are like, ‘I too was tortured by this person.’”

It’s great to see Fangoria back in action and producing horror movies! I really enjoyed their last film Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich. It really captured the greatness of those old-school B-horror films.
Their next movie is a horror comedy called Satanic Panic, which is said to include “a healthy dash of imaginative gore.” Rebecca Romijn (Star Trek: Discovery, X-Men) is set to star in the Chelsea Stardust-directed film.
The plot follows a pizza delivery girl (Hayley Griffith) at the end of her financial rope who has to fight for her life — and her tips — when her last order of the night turns out to be high society Satanists (led by Romijn) in need of a virgin sacrifice.
Sounds like it will be a silly fun horror film! Romijn and Griffith will be joined by Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day), Arden Myrin (Insatiable), Jerry O’Connell (Carter), Aj Bowen...

After writer Benjamin Percy did a fine job of capping Green Arrow‘s first year in the Rebirth era with issue #25, which also served as a great jumping on point, it seems like he’s more than ready to plunge into the next major story arc.
Not long ago, we were granted our first look inside the opening chapters of “Hard Traveling Hero,” which is set to take the Emerald Archer beyond the borders of Star City (formerly Seattle). So, if that title rings a bell, it should, because it’s paying homage to Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams’ legendary run on Green Lantern/Green Arrow, something Percy didn’t shy away from admitting right off the bat in a recent interview conducted by DC All Access’ Whitney Moore.

Yes, we may have a few months between us and the season premiere of Legends of Tomorrow, but DC’s acclaimed sci-fi show still remains on our minds. After all, who could forget that when we last saw the Waverider crew they had “broken time,” arriving in a setting that saw past, present and future merged into a horrific – yet visually stunning – world overrun by dinosaurs?
Aside from having some recent confirmation that there won’t be any sort of a time jump and the heroes must continue righting their wrongs, series star Caity Lotz confirmed just as much in an interview with DC All Access co-host Whitney Moore. Still, we don’t expect them to endure the dino crisis for too long, as they’ll probably move on after an episode or two just as Barry Allen did with Flashpoint last fall.
Regardless, life won’t get any easier for the White Canary,...

So far, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey has been one of the series that has most defined Rebirth’s mission statement by re-establishing a beloved team of superheroes, effectively placing the focus on the characters many devoted fans think of when this title is mentioned. Now, admittedly, Batgirl occupies a fair amount of the spotlight (notice that her name precedes the team, similar to that of Batman and the Outsiders or Red Hood and the Outlaws), but knowing that Black Canary and Huntress are back in the fold undoubtedly provides longtime readers with a measure of comfort.

Saying that this is a big week for Wonder Woman is certainly an understatement. Not only is there much buzz surrounding her first solo outing on the silver screen (you can read our review here), but her first annual yielded by the Rebirth era is also set to hit shelves.
Although said annual is slated to be an anthology of sorts, many readers are likely looking forward to the contribution made by Greg Rucka, who has served as writer on the flagship title for the past year, and artist Nicola Scott, who was paired with him for the Wonder Woman: Year One story arc.
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Whitney Moore chats with Rucka about his 10-page tale that actually takes place within the same time frame as Year One, effectively showing how Diana first met Batman and Superman in current continuity. Sure, we’ve all...

As time goes by, we’re slowly but surely gaining more insight into DC’s upcoming event book, Dark Nights: Metal, which is set to reunite the fan favorite creative team of writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo. The latest helping of knowledge comes by way of DC All Access, in which the most recent installment of the web series sees co-host Whitney Moore chatting with Snyder himself.
Over the course of the conversation, the superstar scribe says the usual things such as they’re “taking risks” and “exploring new territory,” but my ears perked when he spoke of an invasion by a “Dark Multiverse” that brings together the Justice League. Quite frankly, this caused me to think that there’s a dark matter multiverse counter to the DC Multiverse we’ve come to be familiar with and then I remembered that, hey, this series is kicking off the...

Although “The Button” has yet to conclude, DC isn’t giving readers a chance to catch their breath as they begin yet another huge crossover this week in the form of “The Lazarus Contract.” Beginning with Titans and then spilling over into Teen Titans and Deathstroke before concluding in an oversized annual later this month, the tale sees Slade Wilson attempt to harness Wally West’s Speed Force abilities in an effort to resurrect his son, Jericho. Sure, we already know that a bold new era awaits the assassin this summer, but part of the fun is seeing how he gets there.

After months of hype, “The Button” has finally kicked off, intending to be the next tale to explore some of Rebirth’s greatest mysteries. Spanning four issues – Batman #21 & 22 and The Flash #21 & 22 – this monumental crossover unites two of the DC Universe’s greatest detectives. After all, if they can’t get to the bottom of something, who can?
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Whitney Moore manages to video conference with current Flash writer Joshua Williamson from the showroom floor at WonderCon. Basically, they dance around major spoilers, but are still able to tease what’s to come, namely appearances from Thomas Wayne and Jay Garrick. Plus, we’re given vague hints as to how this’ll cause reverberations throughout DC’s entire publishing line, chief among which will be the next major story arc to be explored within the pages of the Scarlet Speedster’s own ongoing title.

Right now, I think we can all agree there’s a lot riding on Wonder Woman. Not only is it the Amazon Princess’ first headlining gig in a live action film, but many are also looking to it to be the great redeemer for a DC Extended Universe that has thus far proven to be divisive. And if the latest trailer is any indicator, it may very well be.
Seeing as how the movie takes place during World War I and Diana herself is a born warrior, it comes as no surprise that much of the promotional material released to this point has maintained a focus on action. Likely having such things in mind, DC All Access co-host Whitney Moore had that very topic near the top of her list of things to discuss when having the opportunity to catch up with director Patty Jenkins at WonderCon.

From the get-go, Titans hasn’t been shy when it comes to exploring the bigger mysteries surrounding the young Rebirth era. Having already detailed the reason for the pre-Flashpoint Wally West being in current continuity proved this title wasn’t messing around and, according to series writer Dan Abnett, he’s not slowing down any time soon.
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Whitney Moore had the opportunity to video chat with one of the publisher’s more prolific writers at the moment, as he discussed Titans Annual #1. As you may be aware, annuals can often be either entertaining standalones or overpriced throwaways, but thankfully, Abnett and company have decided to make use of this opportunity by tying it into the grand scheme of things.

I’m secure in saying that I’m probably not the only one who thinks the wait between DC animated movies feels like an eternity, even if they’re only mere months apart. With but a few weeks to go until the release of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, the folks at DC All Access have thankfully tided us over with a new clip and other goodies.
Although said footage treads very far from spoiler territory, it’s pretty cool to see some fresh content nonetheless, especially when you factor in that it involves Starfire. Up until Justice League vs. Teen Titans, she was a character that was really only hinted at in other related films, so it’s nice to see a version of her that’s more mature than what you’d find on a series airing on Cartoon Network be explored.

There are films that can be called “so bad they are good” and other bad films that are funny to watch for all the wrong reasons… What camp does Birdemic: Shock and Terror sit in? That’s for you to decide. With a story similar to The Birds, Birdemic tells the story of two lovers Rod (Alan Bagh) and Nathalie (Whitney Moore) who find themselves caught in the “Birdemic” with birds of prey suddenly attacking a small seaside town.
It is hard to defend Birdemic: Shock and Terror, it just isn’t a good movie. I can see why some may champion it as being so bad its good, but it didn’t fit that category for me. This review isn’t going to be me bashing it though, because that would be unfair. Why would you consider purchasing the Blu-ray?...

Birdemic, described by director James Nguyen as a romantic thriller, is a story about a young couple falling in love against the backdrop of a batshit insane tale of a town under siege by homicidal eagles! Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (in fact The Birds actress Tippi Hedren makes a cameo in the film in stock footage), the film also tackles topical issues such as global warming and world peace, all wrapped up in a film so inept that you’ll leave the film with the hugest grin on your face. We’ve all heard the phrase “so bad it’s good”, well Birdemic is the epitomy of that phrase!
Where to begin reviewing a film like Birdemic? It’s script? Garbage. It’s actors? Terrible, however the blonde female lead (Whitney Moore) is nice to look...

Director James Nguyen’s “Birdemic 2: The Resurrection” is either the dumbest movie ever made or a calculated slice of comedy gold. I honestly can’t figure it out.
