On April 23rd, at 10pm Eastern and Pacific, the four-part horror documentary series Amityville: An Origin Story will be making its premiere on MGM+… and with less than a month to go before that date arrives, we’ve gotten our hands on a teaser trailer for the show. The short teaser trailer for MGM+’s Amityville: An Origin Story confirms the documentary series will be delving into the murders of six DeFeo family members in 1974 as well as the paranormal events that supposedly occurred in the home when the Lutz family moved in. The four-part docuseries will premiere on April 23, 2023 at 10pm Et/Pt following the season two debut of From.

MGM+’s trailer release was accompanied by new photos from the docuseries directed by Jack Riccobono (The Seventh Fire). Executive producers include Riccobono, Lesley Chilcott, Blaine Duncan, Brooklyn Hudson, Amanda Raymond, Rhett Bachner, and Brien Meagher.

The first Amityville Horror film, based on Jay Anson’s book, was released in 1979 and starred James Brolin and Margot Kidder. The MGM+ streaming service will be celebrating “Halfway to Halloween” on April 23 with “From” Season 2 as well as a new Amityville Horror series. Titled Amityville: An Origin Story, the four-part docuseries premieres at 10pm immediately following “From.”

David Lipper’s LA-based Latigo Films and Edward Noeltner’s Cinema Management Group (Cmg) have struck an international sales alliance led by new action thriller Hunt Club starring Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke and Casper van Dien.

Noeltner will commence sales at TIFF on Hunt Club as well as other films on the Latigo slate: horror thriller Wolf Mountain starring Danny Trejo, Tobin Bell and Cuban singer and Instagram personality Malu Trevejo, and rom-com My Favorite Girlfriend starring Bonnie Piesse and Tyler Johnson that Saban Films released recently in the US.

Epix announced that its upcoming adventure series “Billy the Kid” will premiere on April 24.

The series follows famous outlaw William H. Bonney, a.k.a. Billy the Kid (Tom Blyth), from his Irish roots to his cowboy days on the American frontier, including his role in the Lincoln County War.

The news came via Epix’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s 2022 winter press tour, during which they also released a new trailer.

Epix is continuing to rock with new music documentaries and is throwing some scares into the equation.

The MGM-owned cable network has ordered the four-part series Women Who Rock, exec produced by John Varvatos, who was behind its Punk series.

It is the latest music-focused series for the network, which recently aired Mr. A & Mr. M: The Story of A&m Records and has put a slew of titles into development (see the list below).

It has also ordered docuseries The Making of a Haunting: The Amityville Murders and renewed NFL Icons for a second season.

Women Who Rock will feature interviews with the likes of Nancy Wilson, Chaka Khan, Pat Benatar, Mavis Staples, Sheila E, Macy Gray, Rickie Lee Jones, Norah Jones, Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, Kate Pierson, Tina Weymouth and Nona Hendrix. Vanessa Kirby and Shia Labeoufhave been tapped to star in Pieces Of A Woman, an indie drama from Sam Levinson’s Little Lamb Productions, a division of Bron Studios. Kornél Mundruczó will direct from a script by his frequent collaborator Kata Wéber. The story is about a grieving woman who, when a home birth goes tragically awry, is thrust into an emotional inner journey by trying to come to terms with her loss while also dealing with the ramifications in her interpersonal relationships with her husband and estranged mother. Little Lamb co-founders Kevin Turen and Ashley Levinson will produce along with Aaron Ryder. Executive producers are Viktória Petrányi, Sam Levinson, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth and Stuart Manashil. Creative Wealth Media is co-financing production which will take place in Montreal starting in December.
