Here’s a project that has sounded rather enticing, ever since it was first announced in April of last year. Ruben Östlund, the filmmaker behind Force Majeure and Triangle Of Sadness has assembled an exciting cast for what looks to be a story examining the darker impulses of human nature.

A24 is backing The Entertainment System Is Down, and the boutique studio is really backing Östlund in what we’re hoping retains the filmmaker’s arthouse sensibilities while also appealing to a broader audience. As well as footing the bill for an incredible ensemble of acting talent, A24 has also backed the purchase of a retired Boeing 747 for the film, which is presumably sitting on a studio backlot somewhere in Budapest as Östlund uses it to make his movie.

We come bearing bittersweet news, Billy the Kid fans! This outlaw's story is coming to an end with Billy the Kid season 3 being the final season. The good news it that the show got renewed at MGM+, and this outlaw's story will get a proper ending. What's sad of course though is that we're almost at the finish line.

MGM+ has officially renewed the Western drama Billy the Kid for a third – and – final season. The series will conclude with eight episodes arriving in 2025.

“In season two, Michael Hirst, Donald De Line, along with Tom Blyth and the rest of our talented cast, captivated audiences with the dramatic events leading to the infamous Lincoln County War, during which Billy is struggling to hang on to both his soul and the love of his life,” stated Michael Wright, head of MGM+. “In season three, we are excited to bring the naturally cinematic story of one of American history’s most fascinating, and often misunderstood, characters to its conclusion, as only MGM+ can.”

The series, created by Michael Hirst (Vikings), ranks in the top three of all original shows on the network.

MGM+ has renewed “Billy the Kid” for Season 3, which will also be the show’s last season.

The final season of the series, which stars Tom Blyth as the legendary Old West outlaw, will consist of eight episodes. The news comes just over two months after the conclusion of Season 2.

The official description for Season 3 states:

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the sci-fi action thriller War Machine, which will be helmed by Patrick Hughes, known for The Expendables III, The Hitman’s Bodyguard and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, has now added more cast members to the film. Alan Ritchson, of the hit Prime Video series Reacher, has signed on to lead the film. The logline reads: “In the final 24 Hours of the world’s toughest selection process, a team of Army Rangers encounter a threat beyond their imagination.“

THR reports that Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Esai Morales and Jai Courtney are all set to co-star in War Machine alongside Ritchson. Additionally, it is also being reported that singer-turned-actor Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash), and Daniel Webber (The Dirt) have rounded out the cast of the film. The sci-fi actioner is set to stream on Netflix. It’s been scheduled to shoot in Australia this week.

Taylor-Joys titular character and Hemsworths tyrannical Dr. Dementus faced off against one another back in May, but Furiosa surprisingly turned out to be one of the biggest financial disappointments to come out during the 2024 summer movie season at the box office.

Director George Millers latest big-screen installment set in the Wasteland only made $67.5 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo. The post-apocalyptic franchise received a prequel following the character this year, titled Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over the younger titular character, and Charlize Theron just addressed the film.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the party for her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, Charlize Theron confirmed that she has seen the film. For the prequel, director George Miller decided to cast a younger actress instead of asking Charlize Theron to come back to tell the origin story for Imperator Furiosa.
