Thayne is an interdisciplinary creative professional with a robust background in film, photography, and design. He holds an MFA in Film Directing and a BFA in Illustration from the prestigious ArtCenter College of Design, where he honed his skills in visual storytelling and artistic direction.
With experience spanning across various roles in film production, he has worked as a Production Designer and Art Director on a range of independent films, commercials, shorts, music videos, and PSAs. His early start was as a Director of Photography and was driven by his strong foundation in photography, where he earned notable awards such as the Kodak Award and recognition from the Professional Photographers of Idaho.
In addition to his film work, he has contributed as a graphic artist, set builder, and props designer, further demonstrating his versatility in the art department. His interdisciplinary expertise across film, illustration, graphic design, and photography is a testament to his deep understanding of how various creative fields intersect and enhance storytelling.
Outside of his work on set, Thayne is a passionate educator with over a decade of teaching experience in film, art, and design at both the collegiate and professional levels. His ability to teach across these disciplines stems from his diverse background, and he has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of filmmakers, designers, and visual artists.
Growing up in a military household, living mostly overseas, Thayne developed a global perspective that influences his work today. His father's career in the Army's Special Forces and Military Intelligence also instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and adaptability, which he brings to every project he undertakes.
