What's the use of getting all pissy about a kiddie cartoon? Watch Ice Age: Collison Course and see how you feel. The fifth entry in the Ice Age series is a loud, lazy, laugh-starved cash grab that cynically exploits its target audience (I use the term advisedly) by serving them scraps and calling it yummy. Even two-year-olds can see through the hustle.
You can't blame the animators, who do what they can to spark the visuals. But screenwriters Michael Wilson, Michael Berg and Yoni Brenner are running on less than empty.

The Ice Age flicks are the cinematic equivalent of drive-through nuggets of reconstituted chicken slurry served by a bored teenager in a cardboard hat. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): really hate this series
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Manny the Mammoth is back! In this Very Special Episode of Ice Age, Manny gets exasperated by the fact that his wife, Ellie, and daughter, Peaches, are independent creatures with minds of their own: “Women! I don’t get ’em!” he exclaims [insert laugh-track clip of a 1967 studio audience roaring]. Watch what happens when Manny forgets his wedding anniversary — he’s gonna be in trouble with the missus! [studio audience groans dramatically] And then there’s Peaches’ upcoming wedding to loveable doofus Julian. [studio audience: “awwwww!”] Is it the end of Manny’s world now that his little girl is officially all grown up? It just might be… what with that massive asteroid heading straight for planet Earth!

Constantin Films has released a new UK trailer for their CG animated adaptation of Tarzan. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't look any better. I like the story of Tarzan, but this just doesn't look like a very good adaptation of the classic adventure.
While in a remote part of Africa exploring a mineral cache in a mysterious cave, entrepreneur John Greystoke and his wife Alice are killed in a tragic helicopter crash, leaving their three-year-old John, Jr. to fend for himself. Rescued by Kala, a gentle ape, the traumatized child is brought up by a band of mountain gorillas as one of their own, learning the ways of the wild as he grows into a strong and indepdendent young man known as Tarzan. At 14, Tarzan first encounters another human: Jane Porter, a pretty and intrepid teen visiting Africa with her naturalist father. His contact with a creature so like himself leaves...

It was over a year ago that we saw the first posters for the latest incarnation of Tarzan. This time we get to see a film both in 3D and shot completely using motion capture (the same effect that was achieved to create films like Avatar).
The latest iteration of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic story will be arriving on the big screen next summer, this time under the direction of Reinhard Klooss (Animals United). Kellan Lutz (Twilight, Immortals) leads the motion-capture cast, alongside Spencer Locke (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as Jane, and Jaime Ray Newman (A Town Called Eureka), Robert Capron (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Mark Deklin (Gcb), and Trevor St. John (One Life to Live).
Klooss is directing from a script he co-wrote with Jessica Postigo (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) and Yoni Brenner (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs).

We've got a new full trailer for the 3D animated retelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic jungle tale, Tarzan. The movie was directed by Reinhard Klooss for Constantin Film, and unfortunately, it doesn't really look that good at all. The CG animation is pretty cheap looking. Video games are far superior to the stuff we are seeing in this trailer.
Tarzan 3D was adapted for the screen by Jessica Postigo (The Mortal Instruments) and Yoni Brenner (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs), and stars Kellan Lutz (Twilight) as Tarzan and Spencer Locke (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as Jane.
There's no word on when the movie is being released. I won't be seeing it when it comes out, anyway.

Tarzan 3D is a thing, and it’s thingin’ its way to screens internationally next summer. As of now, there isn’t a release date for the U.S.
What is Tarzan 3D?
It’s a motion-captured, computer animated re-telling of the Tarzan legend, directed by Reinhard Kloos, and written by Jessica Postigo (The Mortal Instruments) and Yoni Brenner (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs).
Check out the trailer, it’s a doozy:

Here's the first trailer for director Reinhard Klooss' 3D mo-cap retelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic jungle tale Tarzan. I totally forgot all about this project which has yet to find a U.S. distributor. The film is slated to open next summer in international markets.
As Blastr points out, the effects on this thing look waaay dated. It seems they tried to strike a balance between kiddie animation and photo-realistic CGI. I feel Steven Spielberg struck the right balance between the two for Tintin, but Tarzan doesn't quite stack up. It just looks cheap. I'll have to wait for another trailer to see if they actually look to have a good take on the story.

Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga) as Tarzan and Spencer Locke (Resident Evil) as Jane are featured in a trailer for Constantin Film’s motion-capture 3D animated family flick Tarzan.

Constantin Film, the German film production and distribution company behind the WWII film Downfall (Der Untergang) which has become famous for it's Hilter reaction internet meme, is moving forward with an animated feature based on the classic story of Tarzan. Kellan Lutz (photo), best known for playing Emmett Cullen in the Twilight movies, and Resident Evil actress Spencer Locke, will star in the performance-capture 3D movie Tarzan, adapted from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic tale, and to be directed by Animals United’s producers / directors Reinhard Klooss and Holger Tappe. Needless to say, Lutz will bring Tarzan back to life, while Locke will play Jane. The screenplay was written by Klooss, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs‘ Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo, whose sole listed credit on the IMDb is Harald Zwart’s The Mortal Instruments, currently in pre-production. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it updates Burroughs’ story by having Tarzan’s parents killed in a plane crash, the CEO of Greystoke Energies as the film’s chief villain, and Jane as an environmentally conscious heroine. Come to think of it, the first "update" isn’t something really new: Boy’s...

Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novel Tarzan is getting yet another big screen adaptation. This time it will be a CG animated 3D film shot using motion capture technology. It doesn't sound like this project is the same one that Footloose Craig Brewer was attached to direct last year. This seems like a completely new project that popped up out of nowhere.
The movie will star Kellan Lutz (Twilight) as Tarzan, and Spencer Locke (Resident Evil) will be taking on the role of Jane Porter. Reinhard Klooss will direct the film from a script that he wrote along with Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo.
According to THR the script is a larger update of Burroughs' classic jungle character. For example, "Tarzan’s parents, billionaire adventurers, are now killed in airplane crash rather than being marooned with their child. And the movie’s villain is the CEO of Greystoke Energies, a...

"Twilight" hunk Kellan Lutz and "Resident Evil" actress Spencer Locke have been cast in a performance-capture 3D feature re-imagining of "Tarzan" for Constantin Film says Heat Vision.
The story updates the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs jungle hero. In this version Tarzan’s parents are billionaire adventurers who are killed in an airplane crash.
Jane Porter meanwhile is the daughter of an African guide and committed to conservation of the African jungle. She eventually works with Tarzan to defeat the mercenary army of Greystoke Energies led by the film's villain - the CEO that took over the company after the death of Tarzan's parents.
Reinhard Klooss and Holger Tappe are helming from a script by Klooss, Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo. Kloos and Robert Kulzer will produce.

The "Immortals" star will soon be swinging from a vine as he's signed on to play the title role in a new version of "Tarzan," according to Deadline.

We've come a long way since Johnny Weismuller (look him up kids). It's the new millenium and we're gonna get a new Tarzan and Jane to swing on a vine into the multiplex.
Deadline reports that Kellan Lutz aka Emmett Cullen, is now signed up to lead "Tarzan." Guess David Cronenberg and David Michod weren't returning his calls (ouch, burn sauce!). Meanwhile, Spencer Locke, who is probably best known for her role in "Resident Evil: Afterlife" is in talks for Jane. Excited yet? Well it gets better/worse. Backers Constantin are gonna be spending some bucks on this to make it mo-cap with animated CGI for some reason. Maybe Lutz's pecs will look better or be improved via digital trickery? Anyway, Reinhard Klooss (never heard of him) is directing and he co-wrote the script with Jessica Postigo ("The Mortal Instruments") and Yoni Brenner ("Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs").

Like a hardy perennial, Edgar Rice Burroughs’ animal-befriending, vine-swinging, valley-yodelling hero Tarzan just keeps getting re-invented every few years. And now Resident Evil producers Constantin Film think that Twilight’s Kellan Lutz is the top choice to don the loincloth.Actually, Lutz will be spending his time in a performance capture leotard, as the movie, set to be directed by Reinhard Klooss, is going to be CG animated from the cast’s work. And every Tarzan needs his Jane, which explains why actress Spencer Locke (who has cropped up in two Resident Evil movies as K-Mart and will next be seen in Detention) is in talks to play the woman who wins his heart.Klooss (whose name makes him sound like the villain on a kids’ spy show), has been working on this one for a couple of years now. Chicago – When did “gentleness” first become “unhip” in children’s films? Practically every studio in America, with the exception of Pixar, feels the need to make their “all ages” entertainment as abrasive, dumb and crude as their escapism targeted at teens and simple-minded adults. What’s the difference between a picture like “G-Force” and “Transformers”? A handful of swears and a few excessive shots of Megan Fox’s midriff. Kids movies in America can get away with endless mean-spirited gags and bathroom humor, just as long as there’s a sticky moral tacked on to the end. The “Shrek” series flourished under this principle, and so does “Ice Age.”
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.5/5.0
Yet while DreamWorks has found financial success with multiple franchises (“Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “Kung Fu Panda”), Blue Sky Studios still insists on focusing most of its moviemaking efforts on the decade-old premise of prehistoric creatures riffing through an arctic wasteland.
