Spider-Man: Far From Home had one of the most shocking endings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! How did it unfold to lead to other big projects?
As this 2019 movie begins, the MCU is still getting used to “The Blip,” the five-year period between when Thanos “snapped” half the universe into dust in Avengers: Infinity War, and when everyone was restored in Endgame. That means Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his various “blipped classmates” are all still in high school again.
Peter is still mourning Tony Stark as he takes part in a class trip to Europe. Nick Fury then recruits him to aid Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), who claims to be a hero from an alternate Earth fighting massive Elemental creatures who destroyed his Earth’s heroes and are now targeting the McU's Earth.
Peter and Mysterio get along well, and Peter also reveals his identity as Spider-Man to Mj (Zendaya). Eventually,...

After 29 movies, seven Disney+ series, and nine tangentially connected television series, we know the characters of the MCU pretty well. We know that Nick Fury is the one-eyed man with all the secrets. We know that one-time Captain America Steve Rogers retired after traveling through time to return the Infinity Stones used to defeat Thanos. And we know that good boy Peter Parker is rebuilding his life as Spider-Man after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
But what if we were wrong? What if the characters we thought we knew and understood were all a lie, secretly using their positions in the public trust to launch a world-dominating attack? That’s the central hook of Secret Invasion, a long-in-development Disney+ series that may have major repercussions for the MCU.
The First Invasion
As is often the case, the series takes its name from a previously published Marvel comic book.

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”]
One of the big twists in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is the revelation that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck/Mysterio is lying about the Multiverse. The character does not hail from an alternate earth and is actually a former employee of Stark Industries who has stolen some illusion technology to create the Elementals. The twist turns Mysterio into the “Far From Home” big bad, but originally the film included a double twist. Screenwriter Chris McKenna recently told Collider an early version of the McU tentpole revealed Mysterio was a Skrull alien invader.
“There were some early, early versions of this movie where Mysterio was a Skrull,” McKenna said. “There were a lot of Skrull versions of the story early on. When you’re doing a con artist movie, what we finally landed on—we sat down and talked about how do we keep on fooling the audience,...

Sadly, everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. Envise chose to support these two charities because of the great variety of work they do to advocate for those affected by cancer – from cutting-edge research and influencing legislature, to personal programs such as rideshares, healthy living and peer groups. Cancer is a frightening diagnosis, but with the important work of American Cancer Society and Cancer Schmancer, the future is brighter, and more importantly, the patient is never alone in their journey. Envise stands with these two deserving non-profits in celebrating survivors and eradicating this dreaded disease.
