- "Beauty will be convulsive or will not be at all."
This quote from André Breton deeply resonates with me as writing is in my flesh and cinema runs through my veins.
For as long as I can remember, I've written every day - poetry, short stories, ideas - a habit I owe to author Michel Tournier whom I met by chance after a bicycle accident in front of his house. His advice: "If you want to write, write every day, no matter what."
I am driven by an all-consuming passion for creating unique universes and characters that venture off the beaten path. This artistic quest is rooted in my personal history. From an early age, I felt a fierce need to tell stories and shine a different light on those who are overlooked or stigmatized.
This particular sensitivity naturally led me to cinema, which I see as a total art form where all other disciplines meet and where technique must always serve emotion. To express myself in this art, I needed to master every aspect. I developed extensive expertise by training in all facets of filmmaking, from writing to directing, including optics and acting.
My journey has been marked by meaningful encounters with talented actors like Nicolas Marié who believed in my projects, and passionate technicians who joined me in pursuing humanist and demanding cinema, always aimed at creating original works that challenge conventional formats. My short film « Night is meant for sleeping » (starring award-winning Nassim Lyes) perfectly illustrates this approach: a social thriller that subverts genre codes to better reveal its characters' humanity.
Another significant encounter was with the (often misunderstood) art of Clowning, which for me represents the purest essence of acting. I wrote and directed Alice Costello's show "Mandibules," which received the SACD Humor Award.
My ambition is to create cinema that challenges certainties, broadens horizons, and touches hearts. My artistic signature has been forged through this constant pursuit of excellence and authenticity. I've developed a distinctive aesthetic using vintage photo lenses rebuilt for cinema, chosen for their 'beautiful imperfections' rather than technical performance.
This aesthetic work aims to transcend everyday impressions and elevate narratives to the universal. I find my singular creative voice in this alliance between meticulous technique and humanist perspective, guided by R. Bresson's credo: "Make visible what might never have been seen without you."- IMDb Mini Biography By: Adrien Comelli
