Originally shot in 2012 as a thesis project at the School of Visual Arts, professor Roy Frumkes is the film’s executive producer, Animosity had a festival run that included Fantasia and the Boston SciFi Film Festival. But after a small release it quickly faded into obscurity. Then writer/director Brendan Steere had an unexpected, and unlikely, hit with The VelociPastor.

Never one to pass up a quick cash in, Wild Eye Releasing has now dusted Animosity off and scheduled it for re-release. Is it one of their better finds, or just another student film that should stay forgotten?

Previously at Eye For Film, we've addressed the subject of moving house in horror films and how it's usually a bad idea. Now imagine you've moved into the middle of the woods, and you have a neighbour who randomly fires a gun in the grounds of your house, and when you talk to said neighbour he points the gun at you and tells you to back off, and then your husband tells you not to bother the police about it. Imagine that you wake up at night to find that another man has broken into your home, and he grabs you, and after you manage to drive him off your husband tells you not to bother the police about it. Would you stay in that house? Would you stay with that man? Would you want to stay in that film?

This is the predicament in which Carrie (Tracy Willet) finds herself.

Director/Writer Brendan Steere (The Velocipastor) and Executive Producer Roy Frumkes (Street Trash, Document Of The Dead) present the horror-thriller feature film Animosity.

A newlywed couple moves into a house in the middle of the woods. Soon, they discover the forest surrounding the house is host to sinister supernatural powers that cause them to turn against each other.

Animosity was produced by Brandon Taylor (The Remembrance) and Michael Allen. It is the first feature film lensed by cinematographer Jesse Gouldsbury.
