Gio's first interactions with the craft of acting were in two short plays. In both productions he had a supporting role but recognized that he could command the attention of the audience and get a laugh; both of which left an impression on him.
During his teen years, he fell in love with movies like "Back to the Future", "Indiana Jones", and anything with Jerry Lewis. But being in a small school with no Art program and a small town with little opportunity he was left to all the shenanigans kids normally get up to until he befriended the hilarious and talented sons of Judy Russell at Enchainement Dance Studio in Prince George, BC. Here he sang, danced, and acted in many of the studio's local musical productions.
While in his final year of high school, directionless, and with no particular interest in the opportunities present in his small town, his high school principal suggested he check out a small theatre school. Having no idea theatre schools even existed he was suddenly filled with the hope that perhaps there was a way to make a living doing the only thing he enjoyed; acting.
He studied acting at Rosebud School of the Arts in Alberta where he completed his studies and immediately started working in the theatre in Western Canada. He toured around with a devised theatre company called Trickster Theatre where he would create 20 minutes of new material, with kids, rehearse, and perform them every week during the school year. He would then act on both the main and studio stage over the summer at Rosebud Theatre. This continued until he met his wife and moved to Vancouver, BC.
In Vancouver, he continued to work in the theatre starring in "Mary's Wedding" at Gateway Theatre, "Almost Maine", "The Whipping Man", "Doubt", and "My Name Is Asher Lev" at Pacific Theatre, "Over the River and Through the Woods", and "Amadeus", at Chemainus Theatre, "Fiddler on the Roof", and "Confessions of a Paperboy" at Rosebud Theatre. He also saw it as his opportunity to begin pursuing a career in Film and TV with selected credits: "Life XP", "My True Story", "Supernatural", "All of My Heart 3", "Intruders", "Aftermath", "The Romeo Section", "When Calls The Heart", as well as the lead in the feature "She Has A Name" (available on Amazon Prime).
Eventually, it became evident that Vancouver had a glass ceiling and if he wanted to take a risk at doing something great he would have to go where the action is, so he and his wife moved to Los Angeles, CA.
Now in LA with experience, expertise, a little older, a little wiser, with a more developed and expanded palette of interests, he is not only acting but has begun to create, direct, and produce projects. He hopes you enjoy his work.
