The announcement was made during his podcast Car Stories with Sung Kang and Emelia Hartford, where he discussed his passion for cars and drifting1.

Initial D is a Japanese comic series created by Shuichi Shigeno that follows the exploits of Takumi Fujiwara, a young tofu delivery driver who becomes a legendary street racer in his father’s Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86. Exclusive: Sung Kang is swapping the Fast & Furious franchise for a doc series on car cultures around the world.

The actor is co-producing and starring in The Ride Life with Sung Kang, a multi-country car culture show that’s set to hit Mipcom Cannes next week.

Kang’s Raison D’Etre Stories is making the show with Singapore-based Beach House Pictures, Bros Studios and Insight TV, the international action and adventure network.

Kang will be in Cannes next week promoting the six-part show, at a presentation held Tuesday, October 17 at 4pm at the Infocomm Media Development Authority (Imda)’s ‘Singapore Hour,’ which will showcase new productions with ties to Singaporean companies.

The “Gran Turismo” movie filming is underway, and David Harbour is teasing what fans can expect in the upcoming flick, which is based on the popular PlayStation video game.

MotorTrend Group, a Warner Bros. Discovery company, has given a greenlight to “Super Turbo Story Time,” an all-new adult animated series telling larger than life, untold and (mostly) true stories from the automative world, it announced Thursday.

The eight-episode series, the first adult animated title in the history of MotorTrend, will be produced with legendary American animation studio Titmouse and by MotorTrend Studio.

“Super Turbo Story Time” will debut first quarter of 2023 on MotorTrend Plus, the top motoring SVOD service.

Every episode has two hosts who meet to trade their favorite car stories. “While one host shares their most unbelievable automotive legend, the other host listens carefully, ready to flag any holes in the story or simply crack jokes from the peanut gallery,” MotorTrend said in a press statement. It described the series animation as “energetic” and “stylized,” blended with active interviews with top celebrities and automotive authorities.
