Gordon Ryde
- Actor
Born in England in 1957, Gordon's family moved to Australia when he was 3 and settled in Sydney.
Returning to the UK in 1999, he made Scotland his home, but it wasn't until early 2010 that he decided to take drama classes. By the end of that year he had already appeared in a number of roles on local stage and in independent films.
In 2012 he was invited to a residency with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre Of Scotland, under the Open Stages Initiative.
Then, in 2014, he was booked as a featured extra in the Starz hit series, Outlander, as a Chieftain of the Clan Mackenzie.
Gordon continued appearing in indie films and local stage productions, one of which was the 2015 Inverness Musical Theatre's 90th anniversary production of Calamity Jane, in which he played the role of Henry Miller.
Moving away from support artist work in feature films, he enrolled in the LAMDA Exams Ready course in 2015 and was placed in (Elite) Silver - 2015/16 and Gold - 2016/17, both of which he passed with distinctions.
In 2016, Gordon was accepted into Actors Equity, wherein he took the stage name Ryde.
He continues to work in independent films, but is now being noticed by film makers further afield.
