Isaac Ruth is an award-winning writer and director working in film, TV, and digital media. Having been an editor, director of photography, composer, colorist, sound designer, and producer in numerous projects, he specializes in having a keen eye toward all facets of filmmaking. I would know because I'm him. Hi. It's me.
After being scouted by Apple for his specialty in short-form horror, Isaac worked with Media Arts Lab to develop Apple's first shot-on-iPhone short horror film, Those That Follow, eventually attaching director Parkpoom Wongpoom (Shutter) to direct and shoot in Thailand. The short film went on to win multiple awards and garner over 11 million views, becoming one of Apple's most successful film projects.
Isaac's feature script Searchers was optioned for development after a successful run on the Blacklist as well as several festivals, with Netflix's involvement soon to follow. Though its development was put on hold during the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, he has begun development through his own company, Ruthless Stories, and created a proof-of-concept short film for the project which has earned wide critical acclaim and has since been purchased by Alter.
His extensive work with Square Enix included not only the creation of their 7-part Starter Guide Series, creating original characters, writing each episode, and directing voice actors, but also the campaign for their latest expansion Dawntrail. The pitch for Dawntrail included the creation of the fictional Board of Turalism, which was eventually awarded and starred Rhys Darby as the comical Interim Deputy Director of Turalism.
Isaac is represented by Colton James at Randy James Management.
