Julia Mattison is a writer, actor, and musical comedian. She has appeared on Broadway (Godspell), television (Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show), and film (How To Be Single). She and her writing partner Noel Carey debuted their latest original comedy for Audible, called Is Anyone Alive Out There? at the Minetta Lane Theater in New York. The show is available to stream on Audible, and was named one of Audible's "Best of 2019: Direct from the Stage". Julia and Noel also co-wrote multiple musical commercials for Olay, including "I Can't Wait To Wash My Face," which has garnered millions of views online and aired on the MTV VMA's, as well as the one-night-only Olay Live! Musical starring Ana Gasteyer at New World Stages. After the show, Julia filled a cardboard box with free Olay products and gave them away like a skincare Santa Claus. Julia recently wrote, directed, and starred in her debut short film Stomach People, which was EP'd by Michael Showalter. She is the co-creator and writer of the hit web series Brooklyn Sound, which was nominated for a 2017 Webby Award for Best Comedy, won the 2016 Streamy Award for Best Indie, and received multiple awards at the 2016 New York Television Festival, including a Development Deal with Comedy Central and a Best Actress win for Julia.
As a musical comedian, Julia and her pal Joel Waggoner created the viral holiday sensation "Joel & Julia's Advent Carolndar" (@adventcarolndar on Instagram) where they've shared 25 brand new carols every December for three years running. Joel and Julia were featured on NPR's Weekend Edition and Jimmy Kimmel Live! supporting Ben Platt. Additionally, Julia's performed her original musical comedy around NYC for shows like The Sweet Show with Seth Herzog (The Tonight Show), and has written and debuted multiple original shows in New York, at Joe's Pub (Noel and Julia's Wayward Brainchildren) and Feinstein's/54 Below (Ruby Manger: A Farewell Engagement). She's played opposite Darrell Hammond in the Funny Or Die sketch "Thoughts and Prayers," in the Comedy Central web series Road To Hollygrove, and as a guest on Doug Loves Movies. In reading this bio, you may have noticed that Julia's two main collaborators are named Joel and Noel. Julia looks forward to this being a hilariously confusing situation for years to come. Julia is represented by Namoff & Co, WME. She is the kind of person who is most likely to say "you too" after a hotel concierge says "enjoy your stay."
