During the DC Comics crossover Absolute Power, Amanda Waller made the world think heroes were committing crimes worldwide. Then, her Task Force VII stole powers from heroes and villains across Earth Prime and kept them for themselves. To make things worse, Waller was helped by Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Batman’s android, Failsafe. Of course, the heroes eventually fought back. With Nightwing leading, the heroes attacked Waller and took their planet back.
Now that the series is over, here's everything you need to know about the finale of Absolute Power and how it affects DC Comics.

This may explain why The Flash‘s Barry Allen didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes upon super-speeding to the year 2031.
When last we tuned in, a desperate Barry had time-traveled forward 10 years to get clues about how he will one day do Earth dirty. His first stop, though, was a doozy, crashing a swanky soiree attended by Supergirl‘s Alex Danvers, Batwoman‘s Ryan Wilder and more of the Arrowverse’s finest — and where Eobard Thawne (played by former series regular Tom Cavanagh) was doting on Iris!

We now know how Arrow‘s Mia — who lives as a grown-up in the year 2040 or so — will figure into the conclusion of The Flash‘s five-part “Armageddon” event.
Now two episodes into its five-week run, “Armageddon” has Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) puzzling over his alleged role in the titular destruction of Earth in the year 2031. Thus far, Barry has hung out with Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer/The Atom (from Legends of Tomorrow), Supergirl‘s Chyler Leigh appeared as Alex Danvers via a video chat, and at the close of Part 2 Barry met up with Cress Williams...

Kara Danvers and the Super Friends have been through a lot at this point
Originally published March 31; updated to reflect recent plot developments.
The sixth and final season of “Supergirl” just hit the mid-point and, let’s get honest: Kara Danvers and the Super Friends have been through the wringer many times over at this point. The mid-season finale literally saw most of the super friends experience their deepest fears, thanks to a loose Phantom. It was…rough, to say the least.
Can we finally get them into therapy?
They’ve had a therapist within reach for awhile now: Kelly Olsen (James’ sister), the psychologist specializing in trauma who is currently dating Alex Danvers. And, according to series star Azie Tesfai, who has played Kelly since Season 3, the “Supergirl” cast talks fairly often about this, and like to imagine what an actual Super Friends group therapy session would look like.

The moment really didn’t require much acting between Leigh and Melissa Benoist in the mid-season finale
Warning: Spoilers ahead for the mid-season finale of “Supergirl.” Don’t read if you haven’t seen it.
Getting in and out of the Phantom Zone is no easy task, but we always knew that if anyone could do it, it was Alex Danvers and the super friends. And indeed, in the mid-season finale of “Supergirl,” Kara made it back to her family. And, as it turns out, it was more than a reunion between on-screen sisters; it was a reunion in real life too.
Admittedly, it looked for a moment like the reunion might be an illusion, what with all the characters experiencing their worst fears and struggling to separate what was real and what was fake, thanks to some Phantom Zone turbulence freeing the Phantom aboard the Tower ship. But in the end,...

The episode highlights what she considers to be the “greatest honor of my career”
Chyler Leigh made her directorial debut on “Supergirl” this week, marking what she considers the “greatest honor of my career so far.” Of course, it was a bit different than when her co-stars have directed in the past. Where Melissa Benoist and David Harewood have pulled double duty, acting and directing in their episodes, Leigh only had to focus on directing — but she got to direct her younger self.
Ok, technically it wasn’t a younger version of Chyler Leigh, it was a young version of Alex Danvers, played by Olivia Nikkanen. But at this point, the two actresses could be one and the same. In fact, Leigh notes that in directing Nikkanen – along with her on-screen sister Izabela Vidovic – she really didn’t have to give many notes at all because the younger actresses had...

If you had to name one television network that has decent diversity, you might say the CW.
After all, how could it not be the CW? There is Riverdale, a show with an interracial lesbian relationship. Supergirl’s Alex Danvers had an incredible coming out storyline. The list goes on forever.
However, having diversity does not automatically make it good representation. Arguably, the CW has largely mishandled both LGBTQ+ and racial diversity on their shows.
A prime example is their teen drama, Riverdale, a show that seems to have a lot of representation on the surface. So, that should be okay, right?
Wrong, because their version of “representation” is just tokenism. They queer-baited the audience on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 1 when Betty and Veronica kissed during cheerleading tryouts.
Riverdale tried to play it off as “faux-lesbian kissing,” but this relationship quickly hooked viewers, especially since Betty and Veronica remained close on the following episodes.

Once a TV doctor, always a TV doctor. Patrick "McDreamy" Dempsey, former star of Grey's Anatomy, shared a post earlier this week reminding his followers to wear a mask because "it's a good day to save lives," and it got us wondering...what's he up to now? In fact, what are all of the former doctors from Seattle Grace/Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital up to these days? Some, like Derek Shepherd, have only been gone a few seasons. Some have been gone for more than decade. Some of the actors have even gone on to appear on our TV screens regularly on other shows. Some of the former Grey's doctors even came together for an ad back at the...

Supergirl's Alex Danvers didn't just inspire a legion of fans, she also inspired the woman who plays her. In a recent post on her website Create Change, Chyler Leigh opened up about how Alex's journey to come out as a lesbian in season two inspired her own journey with her sexuality. "What I didn't realize was how the scene where she finally confessed her truth would leap off the pages of the script and genuinely become a variation of my own. Irl," Leigh wrote. Supergirl actress Chyler Leigh is publicly opening up about her sexuality for the first time.
In a recent post on the Creating Change website, an LGBTQ+ organization the former Grey's Anatomy actress co-founded, Leigh opened up about how the coming out story of her Supergirl character Alex Danvers helped her come to terms with her own sexuality.
"When I was told that my character was to come out in season 2, a flurry of thoughts and emotions flew through and around me because of the responsibility I personally felt to authentically represent Alex's journey," she said at the top of the post.
She continued, "What I didn't realize was how the scene where she finally confessed her truth would leap off the pages of the script and genuinely become a variation of my own."

Supergirl star Chyler Leigh has played Alex Danvers, adoptive sister to the Girl of Steel, on The CW show to acclaim from fans for the past five seasons. In particular, Alex’s coming out storyline in season 2 was widely praised for being sensitively handled by the writers and brilliantly performed by Leigh. The actress has now revealed just how personal this storyline was to her though, opening up about her own sexuality in the process for the first time in public.
Leigh came out in a lengthy, honest post shared to the website for Create Change, a LGBTQ+ organization that she co-founded, in which she speaks about how she learned to accept herself just as Alex was doing the same in the series.

The Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the world of film and television more than anything in their history. The entertainment industry has endured writers’ strikes, global depressions and even World War II, but nothing’s come close to the sheer impact of Coronavirus.
Of course, The CW’s Arrowverse line-up has been no exception. Though many of the episodes were already shot, the various effects studios working on their CGI had to quickly adapt to working from home, which caused delays. This meant repeats being aired in the place of new episodes, a practice that looks set to continue for just a little longer.
Supergirl was originally slated to return to our screens on April 26th, but will now air one week later on May 3rd. The rest of The CW’s superhero lineup seems to be on schedule though, with The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman still set for April 26th.

Those of us who watch genre shows understand the importance of needing an escape when real life gets too crazy.
We live for those few hours a week where we can just sit back, relax, and let the stress from our lives melt away with a new adventure.
Genre shows have always provided that outlet for anyone who needs to get away.
But lately, it hasn't been enough. There seems to be something missing. Genre shows have great characters and intriguing plots, but their dynamics haven't been up to par.
It's not specifically the dynamics themselves, but rather, their lack of representation.
We just can't help but notice there are plenty of romances between those of the opposite sex, and even several between two men.
But there are very few for sapphic women. We don't even get confirmation that some of these women might be bisexual. They're just presumed to be straight.

Supergirl returns this weekend but, for one week only, the title will refer to Alex Danvers rather than Kara. Called “Alex in Wonderland,” the sixteenth episode of the Girl of Steel’s fifth season will continue Alex’s adventures through Obsidian’s virtual reality world, following on from last week’s “Reality Bytes.” In that episode, we saw Alex eyeing up her own super-suit for a moment. Next time around, she’ll put it on and take to the skies as she gets a taste of her sister’s life.
Chyler Leigh has been teasing this development for a while, posting a behind-the-scenes snap of herself in the super-suit on social media. These new promo images give us a much better look at the costume, though. As you can see in the gallery below, Alex’s Supergirl suit resembles Kara’s, but with the red and blue swapped for black and turquoise.

While Batwoman‘s debut season has had some rocky moments with its ratings so far, in my opinion, it’s performed a good job of balancing Batman mythology with allowing Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane to stand out on her own merits. In addition, Batwoman‘s use of an out gay lead playing a gay character has strengthened the Arrowverse’s long history of Lgbt representation, something that’s been picked up on by GLAAD in surveying the 2019 television landscape.

When you hear any writer or filmmaker talk about assembling a superhero team-up, they’ll tell you about how it’s vital that a villain worthy of battling multiple heroes be incorporated. After all, if the most formidable forces wearing capes and cowls are fighting alongside each other, then one average villain just won’t do.
So, in situations such as these, you’ll often see one of three threats: an alien invasion, a team comprised of supervillains, or a being so powerful that they can go toe-to-toe with an entire squad. Considering how past DC TV crossovers have already featured the Dominators and Nazi doppelgangers from Earth-x, it’s only appropriate that the Anti-Monitor finally show his face.

The Arrowverse has already firmly established the concept of a multiverse and many different Earths. Over the course of the various CW series, we've seen different incarnations of the same characters. Alex Danvers, for instance, has already been presented to us as two completely separate individuals.
The upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths is set to feature lots more realities, all of which will have their own version of these popular heroes and villains. We know that Ray Palmer will also be Clark Kent in this crossover, showing us that there's plenty of opportunities for these well-established characters to be someone completely different. One thing in particular The CW has long excelled at is being able to cast great ensembles for their series. Since the network’s inception in 2006, I’ve watched at least two shows making up its prime time lineup each season. Thanks to the arrival of the Arrowverse, that number has inflated with each passing year, and I’m continually amazed at how this trend has held up.
Though Supergirl originated over at CBS, it really came into its own once the series migrated over to The CW. And despite how some key characters carried over from its previous home, others joined the fold throughout seasons 2-4. Though Supergirl originated over at CBS, it really came into its own once the series migrated over to The CW. And despite how some key characters carried over from its previous home, others joined the fold throughout seasons 2-4. Much like The Flash and Arrow, this show gives us more than one hero to rally behind.

We’ve known for a while that Kara is getting a costume change when “Supergirl” returns for its fifth season in October, but until now we’ve only had a single, somewhat obscured photo to see what it looks like. That changed Thursday when The CW released five new images from the upcoming season, including a bright and surprisingly casual look at the new uniform, and it’s pretty cool.
In addition, the CW also released four other images from the upcoming season, so fans of Dreamer, Querl Dox (Aka Braniac 5), Alex and J’onn J’onzz (or maybe Hank Henshaw) are covered, too.
But first up, the new uniform for Kara (Melissa Benoist) ditches her old super skirt and tights for a body suit similar to the one worn by her cousin Clark/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). It’s a cool take on the classic Kryptonian good-guy outfit and we...

Much like The Flash, this summer hasn’t yielded much in the way of Supergirl news following San Diego Comic-Con. It seems like we have something new pertaining to Arrow to discuss nearly every day, but that’s to be expected with that particular series heading into its eighth and final season.
If you’ve been clamoring for some fresh content relevant to the Maiden of Might though, then today is most certainly your day. We say that because a handful of photos taken from the season premiere have been released by the network. Titled “Event Horizon,” the episode in question shares its name with both a scientific term and a cult favorite science fiction movie directed by Paul W.S. Anderson of Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil fame, so we can’t be sure of which the producers are referencing.

National City is getting two new residents: “Supergirl” Season 5 has added Julie Gonzalo as DC’s Andrea Rojas aka Acrata, and UK-based actor Staz Nair as renowned reporter William Dey, executive producers revealed during The CW show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
Gonzalo’s version of the DC Comics character is described as “a polished businesswoman and heir to a Central American tech empire, Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata) is now making a hostile advance into the world of media. Unapologetic and unafraid to make waves, she also holds a mystical secret.”
Nair — who played Qhono, a Dothraki warrior loyal to Daenerys Targaryen on “Game of Thrones” — is set as “hardened reporter William Dey,” an original character created for the CW series.

Two new cast members are heading to National City for Supergirl‘s upcoming fifth season, which will also see a new look for Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
Kara (Benoist) will be sporting a new Kryptonian supersuit this season — the first revamp since her co-worker, friend, and confidante Winn Schott designed her iconic red and blue gear in season one. See image below.
The new suit, conceptualized by Supergirl costume designer Victoria Auth and created by Ironhead Studios and Bill Hargates Costumes, follows the evolution of supersuits in executive producer Greg Berlanti’s Arrowverse, which has seen redesigns of both the Arrow and Flash suits in recent years.
“We’re beyond excited to update Supergirl’s iconic suit, said Supergirl executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner. “We think her new image is strong and powerful. We hope the fans are as excited about it as we are.”

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 21
It’s high time for everyone in Kara’s world to know that she’s Supergirl, though I suppose for now I’ll settle for Alex knowing. Any return to Midvale is welcome, and it’s always great to hear The Format (Nate Ruess’s band before fun.) The neural pathways thing feels like scifi gibberish flimflam but sure, fine, whatever. If nothing else, it allows for a great montage of memories of Alex and Kara flooding back as Alex realizes Supergirl is her sister. The beautiful visual of kara pulling sunlight from the plants, trees, moss is truly stunning as well.
The Danvers sisters are the heart of this show, and in a season that feels like it has gone so far astray, it feels right for...

Nothing says successful family like people wanting in on that action, whether formally or informally.
Television shows over the years have offered us plenty of sibling bonds, all of which have stayed in our mind somehow.
Some have been entertaining and fun, while some have taught us more lessons about the work that goes into a family sticking together.

There are some TV siblings that stand out because they make us wish we could be part of that family. It could be the emotion behind them, or maybe it is all the adventures that fans see themselves having along the way.

This year was a memorable one when it came down to the representation, and we were offered within our favorite television shows.
Writing and casting people that make the story feel inclusive isn't about quantity, it is about quality. But the shows that stood out to us managed to achieve both.
They offered us a wide range of diverse characters, all with rich storylines that felt like they would appeal to the audience in various ways.
29 Internet Boyfriends You Should Still Be Crushing On
Not everyone would see themselves in every character, but they would be able to connect to someone because of the care that was put into it from the very beginning.

The Arrowverse’s “Elseworlds” crossover event came to a close on Tuesday night, with what was admittedly the most by-the-numbers installment of the Flash/Arrow/Supergirl three-parter.
The black-suited Superman who confronted Barry and Oliver (aka the criminal “Trigger Twins”) at the end of Part 2 was in fact Dr. John Deegan, having chosen this new form to serve his book-toting god complex. After Barry and Oliver escape SuperDeegan by giving him rugrats to rescue, they seek out Cisco, whom they hope can get them to the true Man of Steel on Earth-38. To see beloved characters pushed to their limits can be hard, but there is no feeling quite like the one you get when the character you're backing bounces back even stronger. It's even better if said character doesn't have supernatural healing abilities or impermeability to bail them out of a beat down.

Supergirl is like the girl version of Superman.
There. No need for an introductory paragraph. I said it.
Supergirl was Arrowverse’s first female-led superhero show, and it was just apt to have it that way. Even before the news came out, it was a no-brainer that the first female superhero who would get their own show within the Arrowverse starts with Wonder, Bat, or Super.
When the first news broke about Supergirl being made into series in 2014, the excitement was overflowing. Add to that the news of Calista Flockhart and Chyler Leigh casting into the roles of Cat Grant and Alex Danvers, respectively.
Also, being a fan of the multiple incarnations of Superman in films and television, I couldn’t help but be intrigued about what could make Supergirl, as the main hero, different than when she was just a side character next to her famous super-cousin.

Anti-alien sentiment exploded overnight on Supergirl after the world found out the president is an alien.
When we first met the Deo in season 1 of Supergirl, it was a hardline anti-alien agency. In the intervening years, however, Supergirl, J'onn J'onzz and Alex Danvers have transformed it into a justice-oriented policing organization (if such a thing can exist) with aims toward tolerance and harmony between all peoples on Earth.
But according to this exclusive clip from this Sunday's episode, "Fallout," that mission just became infinitely more difficult.

We broke the news last month that The CW was working on a lesbian Batwoman series with The Vampire Diaries executive producer Caroline Dries and CW Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti overseeing the project.
“Greg is in early stages of development at this point,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz today. Batwoman was initially announced to be a major part of a December DC crossover event before CW announced a series.
“We’ll do a pilot for mid-season, whether it goes to series, I cannot tell you,” said Pedowitz about the status quo, “We have five (DC shows) on the air and just added a sixth night.”
Could he rule out Batwoman as a potential villain? “I can’t even answer that question,” said Pedowitz. The CW boss added that “Batman already exists in the Arrowverse, because Thea Queen mentioned his name at one point.”

As various Arrowverse series continue fleshing out their casts, it’s only natural for some viewers to favor supporting characters over the titular heroes. By now, I’m sure some of you reading this adore Caitlin Snow over on The Flash, or – hold for effect – happen to be a devoted follower of Arrow‘s Felicity Smoak.
On that note, I must confess that my favorite member of the Supergirl crew is that of J’onn Jonzz Aka the Martian Manhunter. No joke, ever since the big reveal hit back in season 1, I’ve really taken to David Harewood’s iteration. Having been a fan of said superhero for years prior, I will say the guy has made me proud on countless occasions.
Still, it’s been hard to overlook how J’onn shows up in his Earthling guise more often than not, as his appearance more familiar to comic book readers relies heavily on CGI.

The Batwoman series now in development for The CW will not only feature TV’s first gay lead superhero character, but an out lesbian actress will ideally fill the title role.
Sources tell TVLine that the would-be Arrowverse addition is seeking an out lesbian actress, open ethnicity, to play age 25 to 29. (TVLine has reached out to The CW and Warner Bros. for comment.) Batwoman aka Kate Kane will first be introduced in this fall’s four-way crossover event between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, before potentially fronting her own series.

The Arrowverse shows are mostly about superhero action, but occasionally they feature a different type of action as well. Though things don’t get too steamy, as the four DC TV series are mostly family-friendly, there are love scenes every now and again. In particular, one character who’s had a number of scenes between the sheets is Sara Lance, as she’s been with several romantic partners since Caity Lotz debuted in the role back in Arrow season 2, before moving over to head up Legends of Tomorrow.
While talking at a panel at the Popsugar Play/Ground Festival, alongside The Flash‘s Candice Patton and Riverdale‘s Ashleigh Murray and Vanessa Morgan, Lotz spoke about how “nerve-wracking” filming sex scenes can be. In particular, she talked about the experience of shooting such a sequence with Supergirl‘s Chyler Leigh in an episode of last year’s four-way crossover “Crisis on Earth-x.

Outgoing Legends of Tomorrow star Keiynan Lonsdale – who plays Wally West/Kid Flash – has spoken about how he’d like to see more Lgbt superheroes in the Marvel and DC movie universes. The Arrowverse, which he’s a part of, features a number of gay or bisexual leading characters, like Sara Lance or Alex Danvers, but unfortunately comic book cinema has yet to catch up with superhero TV.
While speaking with Too Fab about his role in Love, Simon, the teen romantic drama praised for its Lgbt characters, Lonsdale was asked if he thinks movies like that one will open the door for better representation in the superhero genre. The actor seemed very positive about the chances, saying “We will see it, 100 percent.” He then elaborated further, stating:
“I’m super excited to find out where it all goes. Like 100 percent going to have queer superheroes and queer superheroes of...

Even though we finally received a live action Justice League movie this year, there are those who’d argue that its effort was bested by what DC was doing on the television side of things, that being the latest Arrowverse crossover. And while it may take a few more viewings of both to make a definitive decision of my own, it’s impossible to deny that Crisis on Earth-x was quite the achievement.
Basically, the heroes from all four of The CW’s currently running DC shows – Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow – found themselves doing battle with their villainous doppelgangers from Earth-x, a world where the Nazis were victorious in World War II. Not only that, but this seamless four-hour event had repercussions throughout the Arrowverse, ultimately culminating with a major character death and a couple of weddings. Suffice it to say, it proved to be an...
