“Fox & Friends” was not laughing at Tom Hanks’ portrayal of a racist President Trump fan during the “SNL50” special on Sunday.
On Monday morning, co-host Lawrence Jones said he doesn’t “censor comedy, but that wasn’t funny.”
Fellow “F&f” co-host Kayleigh McEnany felt the same way, saying “SNL” “must have gotten the script from Don Lemon.”
“Remember when he made fun of Maga voters, or his guest did for not being able to point out a country on the map? That’s ridiculous,” she said.
Hanks played a man named “Tracy” who was wearing one of President Trump’s trademark red Make America Great Again hats while appearing on “Black Jeopardy,” but it was actually a recurring bit — Hanks played the same character on “SNL” before in a “Black Jeopardy” sketch in 2016. The original sketch is the second most-watched “SNL” sketch of all time.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, in her first White House press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, promised greater access for independent journalists, podcasters and social media influencers.
Displaying the results of a Gallup poll on a video monitor showing record low trust in media, Leavitt said that “it’s essential to our team that we share President Trump’s message everywhere and adapt this White House to the new media landscape in 2025.”
Leavitt said that a seat in the briefing room — previously occupied by the press secretary’s staff — would be designated as the “new media” seat. The first person to occupy it, though, was Mike Allen, co-founder of Axios and a longtime veteran of Beltway media coverage.
Leavitt promised to “work diligently” to restore press passes that were “wrongly revoked” by the previous administration. Policies were changed by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre after one reporter, Simon Abeta,...

This week Fox News received its marching orders from its favorite viewer: Donald Trump. As the former president attempts to soften his platform on abortion rights — claiming on Monday that he now supports states setting their own laws despite recently floating a national ban — the network is lauding the purported shift away from support for a national ban as the “right” move for Republicans battling post-Roe electoral backlash.

Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States on a promise to “Make America Great Again.” But a preeminent group of political scientists that Trump would no doubt characterize as “haters and losers” has once again ranked him as the worst commander-in-chief in the nation’s history.
The 2024 Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey was conducted at the end of 2023 among members of the Presidents & Executive Politics Section of the American Political Science Association — a group that publishes multiple academic journals — and scholars who have lately published peer-reviewed papers related to presidential politics.

Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany took an obtuse approach Wednesday to covering Donald Trump’s win in the New Hampshire primary — and the lies he told in his victory speech — focusing instead on how other news networks covered the comments.
McEnany, in the opening segment of her “Outnumbered” news talk show, attempted to shame MSNBC and CNN for not similarly covering President Joe Biden’s speeches.
“The media, they had a rather interesting decision to double down on not showing President Trump’s victory speech in full,” McEnany said before greeting her viewers and introducing fellow “Outnumbered” panelists Emily Compagno and Harris Faulkner. They were also joined by guests: former Michigan gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon and Democratic campaign strategist Kevin Walling.

Update: Donald Trump mocked Nikki Haley’s remarks to supporters after she lost the New Hampshire primary, telling supporters that “she was doing a speech like she won.”
“She didn’t win, she lost,” Trump said.
“Who the hell was the imposter that went up on the stage before and claimed victory. She did very poorly. She had to win. The governor said, she is going to win. She is going to win. And she failed badly.”
He seemed especially irritated during the speech, telling the crowd, “I don’t get too angry. I get even.”
He explained why he decided to focus on Haley in his speech, given that he’s all but assured to get the nomination.
“I find in life you can’t let people get away with bullshit. You just can’t do that. And when I watched her, in her fancy dress that probably wasn’t so fancy,...

Updated, 5:08 Am Pt, Wednesday: Democrats won significant victories in off-year elections on Tuesday, with Andy Beshear reelected governor of Kentucky, an abortion rights ballot measure easily approved in Ohio and the party taking full control of Virginia’s General Assembly.
As cable news networks deployed graphics and teams of pundits to offer their takes, there was a bit of vexation when it comes to making sense of it all when it comes to 2024.
Earlier in the evening, CNN released the results of a poll showing President Joe Biden trailing former President Donald Trump in a rematch, giving fuel to the storyline that Democrats are facing a five-alarm fire when it comes to their prospects next year.
On MSNBC, as it was clear that Beshear was on his way to winning reelection over Republican Daniel Cameron in the deep-red state, Chris Hayes said, “If everything was going as poorly as people say things are going,...

The latest conspiracy theory bouncing around Fox News is that California Gov. Gavin Newsom secretly is running for president, even though he has pledged not to run against President Joe Biden.
“He is running a shadow presidential campaign,”former Donald Trump disciple Kayleigh McEnany told Fox host Jesse Watters on his show Thursday.
The “overwhelming” evidence McEnany and Watters provided was the fact that Newsom met with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week to talk about trade and economic policies and how to combat climate change.
So apparently the leader of the fifth-largest economy meeting with the leader of China, the second-largest economy, is cause for suspicion and points to conspiracy.
Watters played a recent Newsom interview, in which the Democratic governor said he wants to work with China on trade and environmental protection.
“We need China, and China needs us. Climate change … knows no boundaries, no jurisdiction,” Newsom said.

Kayleigh McEnany led the charge on “Outnumbered,” taking the roundtable handoff from Harris Faulker, whose parting remark — “I just don’t think we know the whole story” — left a perfect opening for the former Trump press secretary.
“It’s so true,” said McEnany, who was sitting on a show panel that also included retired NYPD Inspector Paul Mora. “And the interference of the deep state is what’s really interesting to me, Paul. Donald Trump has said he only hires “the best people,” but he stocked his presidential administration with a historically incompetent collection of fools who have no business working in government.
Just ask Donald Trump.
The former president has thrown countless figures he appointed to critical positions under the bus, deriding them as inherently stupid losers incapable of doing the job. The latest is John Kelly, who served as Homeland Security secretary under Trump before moving into the White House as chief of staff.

This is how petty and aggressively stupid the 2024 GOP presidential primary has become: several close aides and allies to Donald Trump want to challenge Ron DeSantis to a literal dick-measuring contest.
It wouldn’t be the first juvenile move by Team Trump in this young primary season. Already, Trump has suggested that DeSantis, his chief rival, might be secretly gay. He’s gone after DeSantis over pronunciation of his own last name. He has claimed to have salacious dirt on Florida’s governor, that he might release during the primary.

Greg Gutfeld and the guests of his namesake Fox News late night show took to the woodshed an opinion piece published Sunday in USA Today, spending the entire 13-minute “Gutfeld!” opening segment Tuesday night shredding sports writer Nancy Armour’s 800-word column about transgender athletes.
Armour’s piece called the views of ESPN reporter and “Sunday NFL Countdown” host Sam Ponder on transgender women and girls in sports “bigotry.” Ponder had recently publicly sided with Riley Gaines, the former college swimmer leading a campaign against transgender women and girls’ participation in sports at all levels.
Gutfeld himself kicked off the kicking, calling Armour “ghastly,” “godawful,” “riding in on her broomstick” and a “hack,” and suggested that USA Today is “the official doormat for Americans staying at low-priced hotels.”
Then things got mean.

Rachel Maddow on Monday night took a moment to examine the state of the Republican Party — first through the lens of the presumed 2024 GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, and second through the lens of other leaders within the party.
Using Arkansas governor and former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as a case study, the MSNBC host of “The Rachel Maddow Show” determined that “they haven’t exactly been cleaning up on big, political-winning issues just in the current news cycle.”
Maddow took particular issue with Huckabee Sanders’ efforts to end school desegregation settlements and minimize the restrictions of child labor laws in her state.
“Don’t worry, Republicans are in control in Arkansas, and they’re on both those big problems,” Maddow said sarcastically.
Beginning her segment Monday night, Maddow gave a brief recap of how Trumpism has influenced the GOP, looking back to the party’s stuttered,...

Update: Fox News issued another statement to address potential changes to its primetime schedule, this time on the status of Laura Ingraham.
A network spokesperson said, “Reports based on various tweets by left wing activists are wildly inaccurate — Laura Ingraham, the top-rated woman in cable news, is now and will continue to be a prominent host and integral part of the Fox News lineup.”
The latest Fox News statement does not address whether she will remain in her 10 p.m. Et time period, but the network statement is a pushback on social media rumors that she is exiting.
The speculation about Ingraham started after the Drudge Report, in its main headline, reported that Fox News was about to overhaul its primetime line up, with Hannity leading the 8 p.m. hour and shows hosted by Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld taking the later slots. That left the question of what would happen to Ingraham.

After Tucker, a deluge of speculation.
Fox News Channel is considering “multiple scenarios” for its primetime lineup after the ouster of Tucker Carlson, with the network declining to comment on a recent report that veteran Sean Hannity might move into its primetime lead-off hour at 8 p.m.
“No decision has been made on a new primetime line-up and there are multiple scenarios under consideration,” Fox News said in a statement Wednesday. Since Carlson was ousted in late April, Fox News has filled his hour with “Fox News Tonight,” an opinion show that relies on a rotating array of hosts. Lawrence Jones, Brian Kilmeade and Kayleigh McEnany are among those who have filled the seat for a week.
Fox News issued the comment in the wake of The Drudge Report posting a plan it said could be underway: moving Sean Hannity to 8 p.m.; switching Jesse Watters, who has fared well at 7 p.

Newsmax’s right-wing panel show “The Right Squad” was reduced to an incomprehensible screaming match Friday during a debate over the killing of Jordan Neely.
Neely, a homeless street artist, was choked to death by U.S. Marine veteran Daniel Penny on a New York subway earlier this month after the former began shouting he was hungry, thirsty and had little to live for. Neely had allegedly been acting erratically prior to Penny’s chokehold, but had not attacked anyone, a witness who recorded the incident told CNN. Neely’s death was ruled a homicide, and Penny has been charged with second-degree manslaughter for the fatal choke.
Newsmax host Jenn Pellegrino asked the panel if these charges marked “the beginning of the end of the Good Samaritan,” which sparked a lively shouting duel amongst the pundits.

CNN aired more footage of Pelosi on Thursday night, including a clip of her saying she “hoped” Trump would come to the Capitol. “I’m going to punch him out,” she says, visibly enraged.

They all were directed at the hearing’s main narrative: Well aware of that was happening, Donald Trump did not fail to act during the 187 minutes between leaving the Ellipse and telling the mob to go home. He chose not to act,” said Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-il) at the start of the hearing.

In bombshell testimony to the Jan. 6 committee, former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified that on Jan. 6 an irate President Trump railed against aides and Secret Service officers who refused to transport him to the Capitol, allegedly yelling, “I’m the f-ing president, take me to the Capitol now,” and attempting to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limousine as it left the rally at the Ellipse.
“The president reached up toward the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel,” Hutchinson testified. “Mr. Engel grabbed his arm and said,...

Chris Stirewalt, the Fox News political editor let go from the network in January 2021 said that he has been called to testify before the January 6th Committee and will do so on Monday.
“I have been called to testify before this committee, and I will do so on Monday,” Stirewalt said on NewsNation, where he serves as political editor.
He told anchor Adrienne Bankert that he was “not in a position now to tell you what my testimony will be about,” but said that he wanted to make a full disclosure.
The committee already has indicated that it would explore how Donald Trump’s false election claims were spread in the media.
Stirewalt was dropped from Fox News in January 2021, in what the network said was a restructuring. But Stirewalt later wrote that he was fired from the network after defending the Fox News decision desk’s call of Arizona...
