After its first, and so far only, season Netflix announced that Wu Assassins would be getting a sequel in the form of a stand-alone movie. And now just about a year from that announcement, Fistful of Vengeance has arrived. Reuniting the show’s three leads Kai, Lu Xin and Tommy.
Fistful of Vengeance opens with a fight against a supernatural creature in a Bangkok nightclub. At some point between the end of the series and now someone, or more accurately something, killed Tommy’s sister Jenny and the trail has led them here and to Ku An Qi a powerful entity that has used her powers to seize control of the city’s underworld.

"This woman you're dealing with... she needs to be stopped!" Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for a martial arts action film titled Fistful of Vengeance, made by a Dutch filmmaker named Roel Reiné. A revenge mission becomes a fight to save the world from an ancient threat when superpowered assassin Kai tracks a killer to Bangkok, Thailand. Kai Jin, a young Chinatown chef in present day San Francisco, becomes entangled with the Chinese Triad's pursuit of deadly ancient powers known as the "Wu Xing". Iko Uwais stars with Lewis Tan, Lawrence Kao, and Pearl Thusi in this fast-and-furious martial arts action film. Also featuring JuJu Chan Szeto, Jason Tobin, and Yayaying Rhatha Phongam. This is a crazy cool, fully action-packed trailer with all kinds of fun characters and fight scenes. I dig it! Looks like a good time. Living with a Jason Statham “superfan” (aka my wife) means that his version of The Mechanic – a remake of the Charles Bronson original – has become something of a legend in our household. I have seen the film more times than I care to admit and more times than any other Statham-starring feature. Which means, honestly, that excitement level for this sequel, Mechanic: Resurrection, was at an all time high.
This time round Arthur Bishop, aka ‘the mechanic’, is settling into retirement when a vicious crime boss, Crain, offers him an assignment. After Bishop turns him down, Crain kidnaps Bishop’s new girlfriend Gina and sets him a near-impossible task to get her back: he must kill three...

I don’t watch as many fighting movies as I’d like so when I got the chance to review Warrior King 2 I was at first happy. I’m a Tony Jaa fan, especially because of Ong-Bak so when I watched this I had that movie in my mind as where the bar would be set. Maybe that was unfair or not, but Warrior King 2 is a movie that has the best of intentions, but struggles to see them through.
When Kham’s (Tony Jaa) elephant is stolen he goes on the hunt for the kidnappers, soon finding himself the number one suspect in the death of the man he believes to be to blame. With not only the police on his trail but also...

Written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Bronson), Only God Forgives was released earlier this summer to critical acclaim, but a mixed response from audiences across the globe. Some found the dark, mysterious and artistically minded style and pacing of the film to be beautiful, creepy, entertaining and thought provoking, while others found it to be patronising, obnoxious and, dare I say it, hollow.
It takes a certain kind of film to divide opinion so heavily, and this film is that certain kind of film. Winding Refn, here, has crafted a surrealist thriller that uses its long and personal shots of violence and landscape to fill in for its purposeful lack of dialogue. The cast is a remarkable assembly, with Ryan Gosling at the forefront,...

It’s not a good idea to give Tony Jaa anything sacred or precious. Chances are someone is just going to steal it, kill it, or cook it. “Ong Bak” director Prachya Pinkaew’s “Tom Yum Goong 2″ (aka “The Protector 2″) finds the hero from the original film searching for a missing elephant one more time. Here’s hoping he has better luck this time around. In addition to Jaa, the upcoming sequel features Petchtai Wongkamlao, Marrese Crump, JeeJa Yanin, Dan Chupong, Rhatha Phongam, and RZA. I’m particularly excited about JeeJa Yanin’s involvement with the flick. I could literally watch that girl kick phone books for 90 minutes. Do people still use phone books? Never mind. I feel old. Check out this synopsis: Kham is the last in long line of guards who once watched over the King of Thailand’s war elephants. Traditionally, only the perfect elephants could successfully help defend the throne.

Nicolas Winding Refn is a director who has taken the ‘Show Don’t Tell’ mantra to the nth degree. Valhalla Rising saw him center an entire movie on a character that was unable to speak. His 2011 film Drive focused around a stoic stunt driver who was clearly a man of few words. Refn’s style is almost Kubrickian – not so much in his technique – but how he has little regard for pleasing the audience. They feel less like exercises in filmmaking and more so vehicles for Refn to experiment with. Personally Refn is one of my favorite directors working today as I adore his film’s unique structure. ‘Only God Forgives’ review: Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘darkest and most oblique’ film (photo: Ryan Gosling in ‘Only God Forgives’) In Nicolas Winding Refn’s surrealist revenge thriller Only God Forgives, Julian (Ryan Gosling, of Refn’s Drive) and his brother Billy (Tom Burke) run a Muy Thai boxing academy in Indonesia. The place is a front for a drug-smuggling operation. Both brothers are criminally sadistic, but Billy is truly unhinged. In the first ten minutes of Only God Forgives, he attempts to buy sex with the twelve-year-old daughter of a brothel owner. When denied this particular fetish, Billy rapes and arbitrarily murders a young female prostitute. The police arrive on the scene led by captain Chang (veteran actor and Thai fighting master Vithaya Pansringarm), but as portrayed in Only God Forgives, Chang is an avenging angel, endowed with the ability to know the truth and mete out justice either swiftly or brutally — or both.

He joined his costars Kristin Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringarm, and Yayaying Rhatha Phongam and director Nicolas Winding Refn at Bam's Harvey Theater in Brooklyn to screen the film, which hits theaters in a limited release on Friday. We were on the scene to talk to Ryan about his new project, including what it was like to reunite with Nicolas, whom he previously worked with on Drive, and how "intense" Kristin got while channeling her evil character. Only God Forgives has released a new trailer.
The video shows Ryan Gosling's Julian on the trail of his brother's killers.
Nicolas Winding Refn's violent thriller centres around a Bangkok gangster and retired boxer (Gosling) who is goaded by his ruthless mother (Kristin Scott Thomas) into taking action after his brother is killed by a crooked Thai cop.

The film - which reunites the Drive director with his star Gosling - received a mixed response from critics at its Cannes Film Festival premiere in May.

Radius-twc's eagerly anticipated release from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn now has a new image with Ryan Gosling ready to fight as always in this Only God Forgives poster also with Kristin Scott Thomas and Yayaying Rhatha Phongam. If 2011′s Drive proved anything, it was that Nicolas Winding Refn is a director to look out for. His amazing visual style turned what could have been an ordinary story of a getaway driver into something extraordinary. Now Refn returns with his latest effort entitled Only God Forgives, a film that premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
While there have already been a number of previews for the film, including a teaser and a red-band trailer, yet another full-length theatrical trailer has been released, and as you can probably guess, it shows off Refn’s visual acuity in all its glory.
The film tells the story of Julian (Ryan Gosling), a drug-smuggler is Bangkok’s criminal underworld, who is compelled by his mother to hunt down and kill the person responsible for his brother’s death. The synopsis alone might sound somewhat generic, but given what Refn...

Craig was fortunate enough to see the film at its Cannes debut – you can read our review here – and the countdown is very much on for its arrival a little later this summer.
With its Us release date little more than a month away, Collider have released a new character poster for the movie, giving us a look at one of Gosling’s co-stars, Vithaya Pansringarm.
Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.

Check out the new poster for Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives which features Vithaya Pansringarm as Chang. The FilmDistrict release opens on July 19th and brings together Drive star Ryan Gosling with the film's director, adding Kristin Scott Thomas into the colorful crime thriller. Also with Tom Burke and Yayaying, Only God Forgives is an intense drama about Thai boxing, drug cartels, revenge and justice in the criminal underworld of Bangkok. This adds to the recent poster of Kristin Scott Thomas which we added just over a week ago.

After seeing Drive which also starred Ryan Gosling, we, like many others, are super-keen on Only God Forgives. Distributed by FilmDistrict, who also sent out Drive, the film is an intense drama about Thai boxing, drug cartels, revenge and justice in the criminal underworld of Bangkok. Although, admittedly, Refn's Valhalla Rising and Bronson certainly aren't for anyone, Refn's stylish filmmaking is a wonder to see, and this shouldn't be missed. Here we have Kristin Scott Thomas in this latest poster, courtesy of IMPAwards. The film opens on , and also includes Vithaya Pansringarm, Tom Burke, Gordon Brown and Yayaying.

For mature eyes only, a new clip from "Only God Forgives" hit the web on Wednesday (May 22) ahead of its big summer release.
The dramatic thriller follows Julian, a drug-smuggler thriving in Bangkok's criminal underworld who sees his life get even more complicated when his mother compels him to find and kill whoever is responsible for his brother's recent death.
Written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, the movie stars Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas, Yayaying Rhatha Phongam, and Tom Burke.
Check out the clip below, in which Ryan's character says nary a word, as he's overshadowed by his vindictive mother. The video contains language which may be offensive to some audiences.

Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn re-team for an emotionally breathtaking, aesthetically brilliant and immensely violent thriller set amongst Us expatriates in Bangkok
It may not win the Palme D'Or, but it could win the Walkout D'Or, a gold trophy of a cinema-seat banged up into the upright position. Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives is a glitteringly strange, mesmeric and mad film set among American criminal expatriates in Bangkok.
It is ultraviolent, creepy and scary, an enriched-uranium cake of pulp, with a neon sheen. The first scenes made me think that Wong Kar-wai had made a new film called In the Mood for Fear or In the Mood for Hate.
Ryan Gosling plays Julian, the co-owner of a Muay Thai boxing club with his brother Billy (Tom Burke): an operation which is a front for selling drugs. Both brothers are naturally angry and violent, though in keeping his feelings in check,...

A fresh poster is up for FilmDistrict's Only God Forgives, starring Ryan Gosling in the Nicolas Winding Refn film. The crime thriller opens July 19th, and looks like another solid collaboration between the helmer and star of Drive. The film is an intense drama about Thai boxing, drug cartels, revenge and justice in the criminal underworld of Bangkok. I love the style of these posters, particularly the second one. Also in the cast are Kristin Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringarm, Tom Burke and Yayaying.

Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling will be heading to Cannes once more this month, reuniting after the immense Drive for the highly anticipated Only God Forgives.
Winding Refn and Gosling were so incredibly in sync on Drive that you can only expect more brilliant things from Only God Forgives.
We’ve already seen three brilliant trailers for the film so far, along with a beautiful French poster last month. And with its debut on the Croisette just days away, another beautifully blue-tinted French poster has surfaced online.

After working together on Drive, Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling have reunited to bring us Only God Forgives. Following the immensity of their first time working together, the film is understandably one of the most anticipated of the year.
We had been hoping that Winding Refn might debut the film at Venice or Tiff last year, but it’s now looking like a Cannes debut might be on the cards for the writer-director once more. And now Yahoo Movies have debuted a brilliant first red-band trailer.

Watch the red band movie trailer for Only God Forgives, starring Ryan Gosling in the film from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. This is an intense drama about Thai boxing, drug cartels, revenge and justice in the criminal underworld of Bangkok, and also includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringarm, Tom Burke and Yayaying. Refn helms and writes the crime thriller which is produced by Lene Børglum. Presented by FilmDistrict, and distributed by Radius TWC Stateside, with no set release date as yet, but folks in France, Denmark, Sweden and Norway can catch it in May. With this director star combination, which delivered, in my opinion, one of the most outstanding films of all time in Drive, one can't go wrong.

Reuniting after the immensity that is Drive, Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling will be back this year to bring us Only God Forgives.
We had been hoping that this would be debuting at Venice or Tiff late last year, but it’s now looking increasingly likely that it will be premiering out in Cannes in May.
We saw the first teaser footage from the film at the start of the year. And now a handful of new images have been released over at AlloCiné, giving us another brilliant look at the leading players for Only God Forgives.

Only God Forgives
Director/Writer: Nicolas Winding Refn
Producer(s): Lene Børglum
U.S. Distributor: RADiUS-twc
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas, Tom Burke, Yayaying
Put a hype, young filmmaker who is already known among cinephile circles (Pusher series) and team him with a versatile, talented actor who has a knack for choosing roles that only show his prowess and you’ve got a match made in heaven. Drive‘s Nicolas Winding Refn re-teaming with Ryan Gosling for a second time in a row will turn out to be recommended viewing for those who want style and substance with a good old fashion blood bath.
Gist: A Bangkok police lieutenant and a gangster settle their differences in a Thai-boxing match.

Nicolas Winding Refn’s follow-up to Drive is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and for good reason. Only God Forgives sees the writer-director reteaming with Ryan Gosling, and the few set photos we’ve seen so far suggest we’re in for another bloody and epic crime-thriller.
Craig was fortunate enough to see the press preview at Cannes last year – you can read his preview report here – and as you can imagine, he really liked what he saw.
We got our first look at the promo poster a few months back, and now the first footage from the film has surfaced in a teaser reel. The quality’s not brilliant, but we’ll take everything we can get from what will almost certainly be one of the best films of the year.

Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives, his follow-up to 2011’s Drive, is naturally one of the most anticipated films of next year.
Reteaming with the brilliant Ryan Gosling, we got our first official look at Gosling in the lead back in the spring, and most recently saw some great set photos of the leading actor looking bloody and bruised, and now the first promo poster has debuted online, with a similarly battered and bruised Gosling front and centre.
