Actor and emerging director Kipan Rothbury has signed with high-powered Us talent management firm Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Rothbury’s Australian agent Morrissey Management helped engineer the deal with the company whose roster includes Bohemian Rhapsody’s Oscar-winning Rami Malek, Brad Pitt, Amy Adams, Michelle Williams and Adam Sandler.
“He is an extraordinary actor who has been making his own projects to critical claim,” Morrissey Management’s Fleur Griffin tells If.
A finalist for the 2018 Heath Ledger Scholarship (which was won by Charmaine Bingwa), his credits including Jeremy Sims’ upcoming drama Rams alongside Miranda Richardson, Sam Neill and Michael Caton, and Kosta Nikas’ thriller Sacred Heart with David Field.

Filmmaker Kosta Nikas and businessman Peter Lord have created a free networking and job creating app and website for screen industry practitioners.
The founders say The Green Room enables users to access information about projects and crew availabilities and to connect with peers who have shared experiences and interests in ways that were not possible before.
While the target market primarily is Australia, the app has been downloaded more than 3,300 times in around 50 countries including the Us, the UK, Colombia, Canada, India, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, France, Sweden and Germany since the iPhone version was launched six weeks ago, followed by the Android version.
The app is designed as a communications tool for virtually anyone involved in the production of audio-visual content, from features, shorts and docos to a fashion shoot.
The founders are developing the technology to encompass more sectors within the creative industries.

Genre sales company Devilworks will introduce four titles to buyers at Cannes this year.
On the roster is Dennis Ho’s feature debut A Better Place [pictured], which tells the story of a young man who uses his abnormal regenerative powers to heal people, despite the cost to himself.
The film has already picked up prizes at Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (best independent film, emerging actor for star Stephen Todt), and the Los Angeles Movie Awards (Best Narrative Feature).
Also on the slate is Jennifer Liao’s debut feature, the comic thriller End Of Days, Inc, which follows a group of laid-off employees who discover that processing the last of their inventory will lead to catastrophic consequences.

European sales agency Devilworks has acquired international rights to the Australian independent feature Sacred Heart starring, David Field.
Sacred Heart is written and directed by Kosta Nikas and stars David Field, Kipan Rothbury and Lizzie Schebesta.
It is produced by Screenlight Pictures Pty Ltd.
Director, Kosta Nikas, said it was damn hard as independent filmmakers to connect with the right sales agency..
"Unlike other sales agents where your title gets lost in the heap, Devilworks liaises closely with producers to ensure optimum sales strategies and results," he said..
"We.re the perfect fit for each other."
Devilworks chief executive, Matteo Rolleri, who negotiated the deal with Nikas said he was over the moon with the collaboration.
"It is such an intelligent and powerful film, which has great scope," he said.

Actor-director-writer David Field plans to pen a biography of his great mate Bill Hunter.
Field revealed his plans on Facebook, prompting numerous offers of help from colleagues and friends of the much-loved actor who died in 2011, aged 71.
Close buddies for more than 25 years, Hunter and Field often discussed co-writing a book but never got around to it.
.We were having too much fun,. Field tells If. He may use the title suggested by Hunter, which trades on one of the actor's favourite expressions, .Stand Where and Say What?.
Field first met Hunter, whose credits include Newsfront, Gallipoli, Strictly Ballroom, Muriel's Wedding, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, Road to Nhill, Crackerjack, The Pacific and The Cup, at the Belvoir Theatre.
They worked together twice, in Laurie McInnes. 1993 black-and-white drama Broken Highway and in Alkinos Tsilimidos.s 2004 film Tom White, which starred Colin Friels as an architect whose life unravels after a nervous breakdown.

The 8th annual Sydney Underground Film Festival is a power-packed event featuring outrageous cult films, provocative documentaries and wild short films that will run September 4-7 at its usual haunt, The Factory Theater.
Opening Night: The fest opens with Housebound, a New Zealand horror comedy by Gerard Johnstone about a woman in trouble with the law who comes to believe that her family home is haunted.
