His daughter tracks him down and tells him his boss has been dead for years. He has been solely using the classified section of various newspapers to receive his orders - only to discover that his division's actually been shut down for a long time. They set out to find out who has actually been giving him his instructions and sending him on missions. Aaron Eckhart stars with Abigail Breslin, plus Tim Roth, Matt Hookings, Myles Clohessy, Kim DeLonghi, and Joe Azzopardi. This looks like another made-on-Malta tax write off.

Matt Routledge’s conspiracy thriller “The Awakening” has kicked off principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London this week.

Produced by Camelot Media and Awakening Productions, the film stars Justin Tinto, who also wrote the script, as Jason Byrd. The plot centers on a global conspiracy.

Joining the cast are Alice Eve (“Star Trek Into Darkness”), former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall (“Expendables 4”) and Daniel O’Riley (aka Dapper Laughs). They join previously announced cast members Peter Stormare (“Fargo”), Steven Berkoff (“A Clockwork Orange”), Matt Hookings (“Prizefighter”) and Julian Glover (“Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”).

Filmmaker and self-described kung fu film enthusiast Matt Routledge is preparing to direct The Awakening, a conspiracy thriller currently in development from Camelot Media.

The film will follow Justin Tinto’s character who discovers a global conspiracy and sets out to awaken the world, as reported by Screen Daily. Peter Stormare, Steven Berkoff, Julian Glover and Matt Hookings also star in the film. Hookings and Tim Kent are on producing duties.

Tinto commented on the film, saying The Awakening aims to deliver a “message about the importance of critical thinking and the dangers of believing everything you read or hear.”

Shooting is set to take place at Pinewood Studios after pre-production is completed. The film has been financed completely independently.

Camelot Media has set action-adventure film franchise “The Lost Book of Creation.”

Roel Reine will direct the first film of the planned three-film franchise. Matt Hookings (“Prizefighter”) has written the script and will also star alongside Madalina Diana Ghenea. The film follows archaeologists Slade (Hookings) and Eve (Ghenea) as they set out to find the legendary lost Book of Creation, which is believed to hold the secrets of the universe and the answer to why and how humankind exists.

Hookings and Ghenea will be joined by comedian and actor Bobby Lee and Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall (“Expend4bles”), who won the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition.

There’s an interesting story to be told about Jem Belcher, the Bristol bare-knuckle prizefighter and Champion of All England in the early years of the 19th century who became a working-class hero and pop-culture icon mentioned by Dickens and Conan Doyle. This biopic is clearly a labour of love for its writer-producer-star Matt Hookings, himself the son of a boxing champion, David Pearce, the “Welsh Rocky”.

Hookings’ feature suggests that Belcher was the first star boxer, a pioneer of the modern sport – and speculates he was even one of the first to use gloves. But despite the film’s historical interest, it plays like a Carry On film without the gags, and the way it is shot makes it look like a coffee commercial. Exclusive: Amazon Prime has quietly picked up domestic rights to UK boxing movie Prizefighter: The Life Of Jem Belcher.

Also kept relatively quiet has been the casting of Oscar winner Russell Crowe in a key supporting role alongside protagonists Matt Hookings, Ray Winstone, Marton Csokas, Jodhi May, Steven Berkoff and Julian Glover.

Set at the turn of the 19th century, the movie charts the story of a gifted young boxer (played by Hookings) who fought his way to becoming champion of England under the watchful eye of trainer and surrogate father Bill Warr (played by Winstone). The feature has been a passion project and labour of love for Hookings.

XYZ struck the multi-million dollar domestic deal a little while ago and is soon taking delivery of a cut of the film for the Cannes market, where sales are due to continue. The Amazon delivery will follow this month. Above and below are first look images.

US-based XYZ Films has acquired world sales rights to Daniel Graham’s boxing biopic Prizefighter: The Life Of Jem Belcher.

The film is now shooting in the UK, and will later move to Lithuania and Australia, with the shoot wrapping in early September.

Lionsgate has set its long-delayed science-fiction movie “Chaos Walking,” starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley, for a Jan. 22, 2021, opening.

“Chaos Walking” was originally set to launch on March 1, 2019, but reshoots forced Lionsgate to push back the opening. Doug Liman directed the film, based on Patrick Ness’ “Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go,” a book that was published in 2008 as the first in a trilogy set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Joe Drake told analysts Thursday that he was bullish on the project. “We’ve two of our biggest stars on the planet today leading,” Drake added.

Project begins shooting in Malta this week.

Peter Stormare has joined Timothy Spall in the cast of The Obscure Life Of The Grand Duke Of Corsica, a UK comedy that begins shooting in Malta this week.

Daniel Graham is directing the project, his second feature after 2017 drama Opus Zero, which starred Willem Dafoe.

Stormare will play the titular Grand Duke, an eccentric billionaire who commissions a cantankerous architect (Spall). When an epidemic hits the island, all its inhabitants must flee, but the architect remains behind to finish the job.

Stormare’s previous roles include Fargo, Prison Break and Minority Report.

Mr Turner actor Timothy Spall has boarded the cast of writer-director Daniel Graham’s The Obscure Life Of The Grand Duke Of Corsica, which London-based Amp International is launching at this week’s European Film Market (Efm) in Berlin.

Spall will play a cantankerous yet brilliant architect who embarks on a highly unusual commission in Malta for an eccentric billionaire. Negotiations are underway to cast the latter role.

Producers are the UK’s Matt Hookings of Camelot Films and Dominic Norris of Serotonin Films. Finance partners include LipSync Productions, umedia and the Malta Film Commission.

Cast includes Kierston Wareing, Dominique Pinon and Frank Leboeuf.

A dim-witted detective hunts a serial killer in this plodding and generic British crime drama

Filmed in a photogenic but seldom shot-in corner of England, with a cast of barely knowns and a budget raised independently, Winter Ridge is the kind of plucky, low-budget British feature one so wants to like. If only it weren’t so achingly middling to its core with decidedly shabby edges, like something acquired in a package deal by a desperate distributor in the last days of the film market at Cannes.

Matt Hookings stars as Ryan, a detective constable in a small town that is experiencing an unexpected surge in mysterious deaths of elderly people.
