Betye Saar

As a young artist I was, like many artists, ambitious. Now I feel more relaxed about it. I want to present things that speak to the authentic me, rather than what's popular in the art world or whether it can sell. My studio is still full. That's the only drive I have - to use up what I've got - because behind each thing I've collected is an idea.
