Tel Aviv-based multinational studio Dori Media Group (Dmg), has launched international sales, outside of the U.S. and Latin America, of the ViX Original romcom “Lalola,” a remake of the 2007 International Emmy-winning hit from Argentina.
Shot in Mexico with a whole new cast led by Bárbara de Regil (“Rosario Tijeras”), Diego Amozurrutia (“Cuna de Lobos”) Alejandro de la Madrid (“La rebellion”) and Alexis Ayala (“Amar a Muerte”), the new version debuted Feb. 2 on the fast-growing Spanish-language streaming platform run by TelevisaUnivision.
“Lalola” follows a prosperous businessman used to getting his way with women to boost his ego. He gets his comeuppance when he wakes up one morning in the body of a woman. "Cabo", the Spanish cime thriller, based on the 1985 Mexican telenovela "Tú o nadie", stars Bárbara de Regil and Matías Novoa, now available on Las Estrellas:
"...hours after the wedding of 'Sofía' and 'Alejandro', he leaves to attend to a business matter and dies in a plane crash. Devastated, Sofía travels to Cabo to meet her in-laws. When Sofía arrives, she is reunited with Alejandro, who is alive, and discovers that he is not the man she fell in love with. Alejandro reveals to her that his name is actually 'Eduardo' (Diego Amozurrutia) and that he changed it so that she would be legally married to his brother, who was the one who died in the accident, and so that together they can inherit his fortune.
"Sofía refuses to go along with Eduardo's plans, who now threatens to put her father in jail because he has incriminated him of being responsible...

We’ve had flesh eaters populating so many cinema screens, it’s sometimes difficult for zombie movies to portray a world wherein zombie movies don’t exist. MexZombies, a horror comedy out of Mexico taking its festival tour now to the Toronto After Dark Film Fest, doesn’t ever try to ignore zombie movies, but instead, treats them as important information for the characters. MexZombies plays to those of us who made our contingency plans after consuming zombie media and maybe kind of secretly hoped we’d be validated when the monsters showed up, making our movie geekdom suddenly incredibly cool and tough.

Shout! Factory is celebrating Halloween months early with the launch of its new horror-themed streaming channel Scream Factory TV, set to bow this spring.
Based on Shout! Factory’s “Scream Factory” brand, and following the recent launch of the company’s Shout! Factory TV service, Scream Factory TV will offer horror films, thrillers and science-fiction films, with a particular focus on cult classics. The titles will be available both on demand and as a 24/7 stream of the films.
The channel will launch this April with an initial slate of 30 titles. Notables films include “Black Christmas,” “Dark Star,” “Sleepaway Camp” and “The Last Man on Earth.” In addition, two George Romero films, “Night of the Living Dead” and “Day of the Dead,” will stream on the service.
