Exclusive: Billy Rosenberg is exiting his post as Senior Vice President of Comedy, Hulu Originals.

Rosenberg joined Hulu in 2016. Throughout his time at the streamer, he helped to shape the comedy brand and oversaw the development and production of Hulu Originals series such as Pen15, Ramy, Only Murders In The Building, Pam & Tommy, This Fool and Solar Opposites.

Previously, Rosenberg ran The Lonely Island’s company Party Over Here. In his two years there, Rosenberg produced a number of pilot presentations under the company’s deal when it was with Fbc, including I’m Sorry that was ordered to series at TruTV, and the Freeform pilot Alone Together starring Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo.

Freeform has canceled its Lonely Island-produced comedy series, “Along Together” after two seasons.

“Alone Together” starred stand-up comedians Esther Povitsky (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) and Benji Aflalo (“Not Safe with Nikki Glaser”) as two overlooked millennial misfits from different backgrounds trying to make their way in the vain and status-obsessed culture of Los Angeles. These two only find salvation in their male/female strictly platonic friendship.

Chris D’Elia, Ginger Gonzaga, Edgar Blackmon and Nikki Glaser also starred. Povitsky and Aflalo wrote and executive produced the series alongside The Lonely Island trio of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, and Paul Mather and Becky Sloviter.

Well, at least they have each other (as friends): Freeform has cancelled the decidedly unromantic millennial comedy Alone Together after two seasons, our sister site Variety is reporting.

Alone Together starred Esther Povitsky (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Benji Aflalo as a pair of platonic best friends leaning on each other as they work towards something resembling adulthood in modern-day Los Angeles. But as much as they might like each other, they do not love each other… at least not in that way. Povitsky explained to TVLine that the characters’ relationship is meant to challenge our culture’s “weird, inherent sexism.

Freeform has canceled “Alone Together” after two seasons.

The series was a half-hour, single-camera comedy starring Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo. The pair play platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture. Despite their sometimes contentious relationship, when push comes to shove, they’ve got each other’s back and they have nobody else to hang out with.

Povitsky and Aflalo co-created the series with Eben Russell, serving as writers and executive producers as well. Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, Akiva Schaffer, Billy Rosenberg and Hunter Covington also served as executive producers. Daniel Gray Longino directed the pilot.

The show averaged a 0.05 rating in adults 18-49 in its second season, as well as 127,000 viewers per episode, down around 50% in both measures from Season 1. The second season aired back in August.

Freeform has opted not to renew for a third season the Lonely Island comedy series Alone Together, which starred Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo as platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture of Los Angeles.

The news comes following the run of the show’s second season. Freeform previously renewed Alone Together for Season 2 two months before its series premiere.

The 10-episode sophomore season aired in an unusual pattern as the network focused on digital vs. linear play for the series. It was available to stream on Hulu along with running back-to-back new episodes over five Wednesdays on Disney-owned Freeform. The cable net offered a sneak peek of the first four episodes across all of its digital platforms and Hulu beginning July 25.

ABC, People, and Four M Studios will present “The Story of The Royals,” a two-night, four-hour prime-time television event documenting the lives of the British royal family. “The Story of The Royals: Part One” airs Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 9-11 p.m., and “The Story of The Royals: Part Two” will air Thursday, Aug. 23 from 9-11 p.m. Both parts will air on the ABC.

Comedians, YouTubers and members of Hollywood are mourning the loss of Stevie Ryan.

The late YouTube star passed away at the age of 33 on Saturday, July 1, in what the L.A. County Coroner’s Office has ruled a suicide by hanging. They did not immediately respond to People’s request for additional comment.

The actress first rose to fame through her YouTube series called Little Loca, and later transitioned to doing celebrity parodies on the video platform.

After learning about her death, there was an outpour of love and penned condolences on social media from those who worked alongside Ryan and revered her work.

At today’s Freeform Upfront presentation, the network’s upcoming slate of new TV was given a sneak peek. With its young adult viewers ever present, Freeform has fully committed to utilizing digital platforms, much as it did with the success of “Beyond” being made available on demand to binge immediately on its premiere.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.

Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

The Writers Guild of America announced some of its nominees for its 2015 awards on Thursday, including television, new media, and radio, and among the TV nominees are series both new and old, and all beloved.

In the comedy series category, freshman Netflix show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" scored a nomination for best series, as well as an overall best new series nod. "The Last Man on Earth" also landed in that latter category, and was singled out for its pilot episode writing, too.

On the drama side of the equation, lauded "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" also got best series and best new series nominations, in addition to a an episode writing nod. Newly-minted Emmy winner "Game of Thrones" also scored a best drama citation, as well as an episodic writing nomination.
