With Venice finished and Toronto in full swing, a couple of key film acquisitions have taken place over the last few days. Here's the breakdown:
Focus Features has acquired Derek Cianfrance's thriller 'The Place Beyond The Pines' starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes. Gosling plays a motorcycle who commits a crime to support his child, putting him in the line of sight of a ruthless cop (Cooper).
Olivier Assayas' coming-of-age drama "Something in the Air" has been sold to more than 20 territories with IFC Films taking the North American rights.
FilmDistrict have acquired North American distribution rights to Spike Lee's "Oldboy" remake starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley. No potential release date has been given.
Outsource Media Group has acquired North American rights to the Mike Newell-directed "Great Expectations" starring Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Jeremy Irvine, and Holliday Grainger.
