Doc Kane is founder of Marianne Productions and Co-founder of Maplopo, both located in Kobe, Japan. His interests as producer with Marianne center on developing stories that either take place in Asia or Southeast Asia, or share a kinship with this part of the world. At Maplopo, he and his wife translate Japanese literature into English for a worldwide audience. He is a former story analyst for Leeding Media, founding member of Chicago's Stage 18, former student at The Second City in Chicago, and author of 14 books (mostly short ones!). Doc has volunteered as a script reader for film festivals, was an early team member with Chicago's Asian Pop-up Cinema, and occasionally dusts off his acting chops for voice work and the occasional on-screen appearance in both Chicago and in Japan. One of his proudest professional achievements was helping to bring The History Channel's Emmy-nominated "Vietnam in HD" to television with an amazing crew of editors and other stellar professionals who all rallied behind the effort.
