Peter Lord Moreland has built an impressive body of work as an award winning songwriter, record producer and director working with the likes of Prince, Bruce Springsteen and Heather Headley. Peter wrote global mega hits "Rush Rush", "Blowing Kisses in The Wind" and "Promise of a New Day" for Paula Abdul. In 1992 Peter won Billboard's Pop Songwriter of the year award for having the most highly charted songs of the year followed by a Grammy nomination in 1993 for "Rush Rush" and in 2003 for "He is" by Heather Headley. Peter won Songwriter of the Year in 1993 by New York Music Awards, and UrbanWorld named Peter Best Screenplay Winner in 2012 for "Agent 12" and "The Messiah Stone".
Peter is no stranger to using his words to tell stories with melodies with over 600 songs written and released with several #1 pop, rock, dance and R&B singles in the US and around the world.
Peter grew up in Brooklyn, New York with Jamaican and American parents and is the youngest of two children. Peter attended Howard University and has a degree in music composition and studied film, theatre, and screenwriting in some of the top programs in the world such as The Writers Retreat in Montreal, Robert McKee in Los Angeles, The Gotham Writers Workshop and The New School in New York. For the last 15 years, Peter has focused his creative energy and writing to tell larger stories with four feature films in development, five TV/Streaming Series and one stage production in development. His work is known for being eclectic & groundbreaking, using a wide range of genres to express thoughts on society, politics, sexuality, and spirituality.
As a natural synergy, Peter co-founded Jupiter Rising Film, a creative and production company whose focus is making content at its highest forms.
