After bursting onto the scene in 2011, Music Collective Odd Future has remained mostly quiet since 2013. Aside from the Domo Genesis mixtape and Under the Influence 2 released in 2014, the collective has focused more on their show Loiter Squad and their merchandise. Russell Simmons' recently launched All Def Digital YouTube network will predominantly spotlight young, talented artists looking to gain a wider audience, but one of its first series takes an inside look at a trio of well known hip-hop personalities. Odd World: MellowHigh follows three members of the Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All collective--Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, and Left Brain--as they record the first album for their new project, MellowHigh. Though Hodgy, Domo, and Left haven't not achieved the same level of mainstream attention as fellow Odd Future members Frank Ocean, Tyler the Creator, and Earl Sweatshirt, they share the same youthful energy and in-your-face attitude that has helped make Odd Future into one of hip-hop's most controversial groups. Therefore, while Odd World will spend plenty of time in the studio, we can expect MellowHigh to throw out plenty of surprises. "I mean this is MellowHigh,...

Nineteen-year-old Earl Sweatshirt's album "Doris" is among the most highly anticipated LP's in hip-hop, and a newly unveiled tracklist is sure to only build the hype.
Legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper-producer RZA appears on a song called "Molasses," alongside plenty of Odd Future favorites (Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Domo Gensis, Vince Staples). "Watching Movies With The Sound Off" rapper Mac Miller is also featured on the album, which drops Aug. 20. Earl is currently on tour with Miller, and the two were seen having a great time at Earl's Vitamin Water Uncapped show in New York on Monday night.
On the production side, it turns out that Pharrell Williams will continue his hot streak with a track called "Burgundy." Williams has appeared on or produced tracks for Daft Punk ("Get Lucky," "Lose Yourself to Dance"), Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines"), 2 Chainz ("Feds Watching"), Azealia Banks and more this year, so it's...

Earl Sweatshirt, one of the shiniest members of Odd Future in terms of rapping ability, is set to release his fifteen-song debut album, Doris, on Aug. 20. The track list reveals features from RZA, Mac Miller, and Odd Future buddies Tyler, the Creator and Domo Genesis. Pharrell produced a song called "Burgundy." As payback for the Sweatshirt-featuring "Super Rich Kids" on Channel Orange, Frank Ocean will sing on a song called "Sunday." Also, the video for "Hive" dropped yesterday. It's ridiculously sparse and impressive.

I’m going to start this review with a confession; I planned on doing it last weekend. Unfortunately, last weekend was Easter weekend and well, I’m not a Christian but, I honourably celebrated it as best as I could; right through from Good Friday to Easter Monday – it’s what Jesus would’ve wanted. At the time it was being streamed on the Odd Future website for free as a response to the album leaking ahead of release; a kind of damage control. Anyhow, once I’d sobered up the album was out, the stream was taken down and after a few play-throughs on Spotify my listening limit ran out.
So here I am reviewing the album thanks to a full-album-containing YouTube video because I’m that kind of music journalist. I would’ve bought it honest but overdrafts have a limit, you know? Anyway,...

-- Tyler, the Creator, "Wolf" (Odd Future/Sony/Red)
Before you listen to Tyler, the Creator's third album, "Wolf," keep this in mind: The rapper lives to offend. "Wolf" has enough slurs against gays to keep GLAAD busy for the next year, and he is an equal opportunity offender, doling out insults against women and others over 18 tracks.
Much like his breakthrough album, 2011's "Goblin," Tyler continues to rap with no filter, but in trying to be overly brash, he ends up detracting and distracting from what overall is a pretty good album.
When the 22-year-old isn't dropping f-bombs, he often reflects on his childhood and his ascension from being a "dweeb" to becoming famous. That's when he's most compelling. On "Pig," he tells a story about an often bullied kid who decides to carry a gun, willing to shoot the ones that constantly picked on him.
Tyler is lyrically strong on the Pharrell-assisted "Ifhy,...
