Biography

Ellie was so determined to achieve her goal of becoming an actress/performer that she applied to Italia Conti and was offered a coveted place, aged 12, after auditioning. She had already had a featured role in 'Frank', a feature film by Richard Heslop, set in Newcastle upon Tyne, and a London Agent had already contacted her parents, having seen the film, to ask to be her Agent. Ellie also attended Arts Ed school, and trained at weekends in dancing and singing with Spirit Young Performers in their elite team. She has had featured roles in BBC's Call The Midwife, ITV's Granchester and BBC's Casualty and BBC Doctors, as well as in 4 feature films;- Frank (nominated Best Film in BIFA), Molly Crows (won Best Drama at Portobello), Soundproof and the short film of Notes on Blindness (award winning at Sundance), Swipe Right and Blonde.Purple, as well as lead in 8 music videos (including Dear Reader's 'Took Them Away' which won Best Music Short at London F Fest) and in 11 short films (three were selected for London Film Festival, two went to the final short list for BAFTA 2015 and 1 was screened at Berlin & Aspen), plus is a writer of award winning short film 'Taciturn' in which she was lead actress. She has also been in 2 plays for 2 series on BBC Radio 4 with Greg Wise and John Sessions. Ellie had offers from 2 London Drama Schools to take her BA in Acting, but has been too busy with auditions and filming so far to take up her place.

Ellie attended stage school from the age of 9. She was cast in her first feature film aged 10, 'Frank' by Richard Heslop, a dark comedy set in Newcastle upon Tyne. A London Agent saw Ellie when the film was screened as part of the BIFA awards and contacted Ellie's Mum to ask if she could represent her. Ellie then auditioned successfully for Italia Conti while attending Spirit Young Performers Company in their Elite Team every Saturday and Sunday, and was cast in a horror film, Molly Crows, as well as building up her portfolio of leading roles in 8 short films, two of which were on the long short list for a BAFTA, and appeared in various stage performances. She has since played lead in three feature films, and has had featured roles in BBC's Call The Midwife, BBC's Casualty (in 2 episodes), BBC Doctors and ITV's Grantchester, as well as in two series of BBC Radio 4 plays with Greg Wise and John Sessions. Ellie wrote the script for a short film, Taciturn, when she was 15 and that went on to win various festival awards and was screened at Cannes, so she developed it into a feature film called 'Tell Me Why' while on her school commute by train aged 16. This is under development, 2022, and the trailer reached the finals of a Hollywood trailer festival. In 2022 Blonde.Purple, in which she was a lead, was released on Amazon Prime and other platforms, and two short films have been released.
