His grandfather, William L. Graham, won the Class II Scientific or Technical Award at the 49th Academy Awards in 1976 for helping develop a continuous, high-speed, color motion picture printing system for Technicolor. He shared the award with Manfred G. Michelson, Geoffrey F. Norman, and Siegfried Seibert.
